"Any piece of hardware is good, for the right price." This is the right attitude, folks... I'd be interested to see if a paste change would help the thermals... Dell has historically had terrible paste application on their machines. The GPU fan could probably be replaced with one off of eBay for a few bucks, provided you can find one that matches the size of what's on the card now. Also, switching to a dual-channel memory kit would certainly help performance overall.... but still, not a bad find for a little fixer-upper of a machine.

Thanks to this PC I never found out about the GPU shortage until it was over. I got it in 2020 for $550 from Dell during their black Friday sales. It came with a single stick of 8gb ram (which I eventually upgraded to 16gb), 10th gen core i5, and GTX 1650 super. I played games such as Final Fantasy 14, Skyrim and resident evil, and it worked well for me. I had move on from it but this brings back memory 😀

I actually picked up one of these half scrapped resonably cheap through the gpu shortage, came with a 1660TI but no cpu, i put in an i5-10400 NON F variant. it initially ran pretty warm, after playingf around i actually swapped my cpu cooler to a cooler from a dell optiplex because i had one laying around and it surprisingly dropped my average 4-5 degrees on average. I have since added an RTX 3060 twin force, remoed the 3.5" HDD bay, added another 92mm fan in the front, and although it can still get a little warm witht he side panel on (MAX 80 on the gpu), without the side panel I can go 4-5 hour of demanding use on warzone with thermals staying under 72 figured id also mention, RAM configurations in these are terrible, almost proprietery if you will.. very few ram sticks will acheive their max speeds, the bios restricts most configurations to 2666mhz or 2333mhz.

I’d just leave the side panel off if it gets that hot. I had a optiplex that I really pushed to the limit 100% of the time and that was the easiest solution I found

For under $400, it's perfectly fine as a low end gaming rig/office pc. Swapping out that single 16GB stick for a 2x8 kit or even 2x16 kit would help performance, as would replacing the i3 with a i5 and maybe adding a 2TB SATA SSD on the cheap. Overall not a bad entry level rig at that price point.

From what I can remember after purchasing this in January 2019 for $700, it was advertised more than what It was capable of. Well, for one, you will see that PC from Dell circulating around with a see thru side panel with inner illumination. Not a solid one like I received. It also had a single stick of 8GB of 2333 or 2666 and a 1650 4gb vc. Can't game DMZ with those kind of poor specs. Was way too expensive at the time for what I was and wasn't getting. So because of how great the economy was in February 2019, I got an ASUS ROG STRIX, which I still use today and has amazing specs that can still play current AAA games.

While responding to someone’s comment "Any piece of hardware is good, for the right price" I had an epiphany moment, whether it’s The Toastybros, JayzTwoCents, or TheRcSaylors, channels that are supported in anyway by youtube revenue and also do any types of reviews, all share the same enigma, none of them have any actual skin in the game. Even if something isn’t supplied to them free from a manufacturer then, regardless of the spin they put on it, the purchase was still made with money they essentially got free through youtube and the longer they do it the further away they get from “what it feels like to spend money that you had to actually work really long and hard to get”…….

The "latency" you're talking about is just the time between each frame. The higher your FPS the lower the number will be.

I've learned from this video that be sure that you 1. reapply new thermal paste. 2. Get better CPU Cooling Solutions like a faster CPU fan. and/or 3. Get a better GPU cooler.

I got the dell G5 a cpl years ago brand new in a dell OEM box in a plain box from a good ebay seller that came with a 17-10700F & a pny gtx 1070. It ran great but it's even better after i put a zalman cooler on the cpu & upgraded the ram to 64GB cuz I always run everything I want to at the same time & many times i use 41 to 47GB ram so... :)

You should check if the PC you review can do 4k because PS5 and Xbox Series X can do 4K at 30 or 60hz. Folks might want to plug it to a 4k TV

if you don't need to play Cyberpunk at 1440p and 100 fps, than for most titles(up to 2021) the 5600 XT will play just fine with fsr I could play God of war low to mid 1440 p and get 70 fps, it's essentially a 5700 with two less gigs of ram

Not a great value but not a bad value. I'd throw in 32gb in 4 channel, then replace that gpu cooler with a 2 fan style cooler. Alot of my other problems with the 5600 I had were fixed with an undervolt and a simple oc.

I have the g5 5000 pc, which has a 10700f, gtx 1660 ti, and 64gb of ram (vengeances rgb pro) it's because my cousin gave it to me, I also added more/better fans to it and a better cpu cooler. I really regret buying the pc but the cpu and ram I got is good but the rest I need to upgrade and basically have to build a new pc ( 2 ssds). its a good starter but def not very upgradeable cause the psu and mother broad.

also, the gpu is alright and good for 1080p ofc but the DELL 1660ti is so bad it gets hot but never crashes so I guess that's good, btw the cpu fan I upgraded to is the ag500 rgb blk which helped a lot but the rgb doesn't work cause there's no connection for it. since there's no other ssd connection i had to get a pcie ssd ( my friend gave me a free ssd)

@Phyron101 its all over priced, im a fan of AMD and MSi never let me down, ive been building pc's since we have been building pc's ill get stick for the MSI, my new rig AMD Ryzen 7 5800x MSi B550 tomahawk cheap corsair rgb ram 32gb got it for less then £200 used but all in original boxes. i dont think ill need to upgrade for many years the performance is astonishing oh and still rocking a 980ti i aint playing them new gpu prices, home pc building used to be a cheap hobby.
