You can do this pretty easily in Davinci, it might even save you some time. You can highlight certain areas on separate nodes and manipulate them in the same project.

Thank you so much for this! Very creative approach. I like to try and solve problems in my head as I go to see how my approach would be different and at the beginning of the video I thought you were going to take an HDR approach where you blend 2 clips together (one exposed to the highlights and one exposed to the shadows). I've seen this done with photos but not with videos. Your approach was very unique and I loved it! Thanks for sharing!
@JooWorks

V-log has more DR than rec709 can show so V-log is already like having two exposures. I once started to do a tutorial about exposure blending two shots, but it ended up being a bit too complicated. But hmm... you are correct this could work for that. :-D

Do you mean to use planar tracking to rotoscope elements manually? I don't simply have patience for that. :-D give after effects a try on this one. Rotobrushing so much faster. I guess fusion migth have something similar.
@JooWorks
@JooWorks 6 жыл бұрын
Jay Warrior So there I similar rotoscoping function or just the planar tracking? I can only find planar tracking videos.

Joo.Works davinci is way easier for this, also I would just use a circle on the skintones and track that
@JooWorks
@JooWorks 6 жыл бұрын
Jay Warrior yes, but it's still unclear are you talking about the "draw a mask and track positoin, scale, rotation & pespective" -function or is there a proper rotobrush tool? In Ae you have mocha tracking extention that you can do the same thing. It's faster for moving shots, but you can't cut between pixels and you need to add feathering to make it blend and then you migth introduce halos. I bet that resolves tracking is faster, it's really great.

I have a question, if a have a scene in Premiere and I want to color grade the entire scene, how would you do it? Replace all clips of the scene with AE? But then they become a composition and Im not flexible in the timeline anymore. Would you replace clip after clip? Then I cant watch it as an entire scene while color grading in AE. What would be the most professional way?
@JooWorks
@JooWorks 5 жыл бұрын
I do my colour in premiere pro. If .I want to do it in AE, I'll open the sequence in AE. It will open it up automatically as a AE-sequecnce.
@silklion7375
@silklion7375 5 жыл бұрын
@@JooWorks Thank you. Im just very confused when you replace an entire sequenz with many clips into a composition in AE, all the clips become only one composition in Premiere. So you can't cut in Premiere anymore. You could but it doesnt make sense if many clips become one clip. We had to do that for university and I was confused why we were not allowed to WB and color grade in Premiere. But anyway thanks and we are still waiting for a video about the G80, G70 or GX85 and what settings you would use (cinelike D, natural, higligts +/-, etc.) And how you would collor grade it. Panasonic told me the colors between GH5 and my G80 (some places 81 or 85) are different. Alot of People have this cameras and they would be happy about such a video from you! Your videos are very good!

this is awesomw ! I have question, in gh5, we possible to record video in 8 bit and 10 bit, can you explain to us whats the different between them? thank you..
@JooWorks
@JooWorks 6 жыл бұрын
8 bits or 10 bits just tell how many possible colour/luma values each pixel can get. In some situations, for example shooting v-log 8 bit doesn't give enough options for different possibilities of colour/luma -values resolving into blocks of similar values (often magenda and green) and visible banding or odd compression artefacts (colour noise for example).

@JooWorks
@JooWorks 6 жыл бұрын
Sam Goldward you can track masks, but is there proper rotoscoping tools? Fusion migth have.
@samgoldward
@samgoldward 6 жыл бұрын
Joo.Works you don’t need rotoscoping tools when dealing with colour as you can selectively mask everything you need to effect the davinci does the animation perfectly for you also your work flow would become incredibly difficult once theres and complicated movement in the shot.
@JooWorks
@JooWorks 6 жыл бұрын
That is true, rotoscoping is pain in the ass with moving shots. Premiere pro's track mask is super slow so I have been using AE for this kind of work. I rarely use Resolve, but maybe the tracking is faster on resolve than in PR.
@samgoldward
@samgoldward 6 жыл бұрын
Joo.Works yeah do your normal edit workflow in Premiere then once you have the clips assembeled just export all the clips as xmls and import into davinci its quite quick do your grade and masking then export the clips bring it back into premiere and finish you edit especially if you shoot with a gh5 your grades will be so much easier to control in davinci and get the results you want

@JeremiahBostwick
@JeremiahBostwick 6 жыл бұрын
That is entirely dependent on the project you're doing. If you're trying to do bi-weekly 15 minutes VLOGS, then yeah, this technique is probably not for you. But if you just spent 30-90 days shooting a production, then you're going to spend the time to make every image look as good as it possibly can. Context is everything.

If you style is more run and gun vlogin of coure this is unnesessary advance trick. I would not use this on every shoot. But when I wanna do something that looks really good. I would take the time.
