Larry Smith outdoors did a cooking video last summer maybe. He cooked sheep head and Walley then gave them to his office neighbors for a blind testing and they all said the sheep head were better.

I've had sheephead on Green Bay straighten my hooks like that! But what a blast! Yah definitely when catching kitties on light line it will need to be replaced! They do whatever they can to get off and in doing so they destroy your line!

Drums or sheepshead are decent when cooked right specially if the water is cold. Also bleeding the fish will be best.

Dave, i'm incredibly shocked that as much as you know about gills. That you never learned that bluegills, pumpkinseeds, and green sunfish spawn every full moon through out the summer. Thats how they can overpopulate any body of water without sufficient predators, in a very short time. And by all means go ahead and eat some drum. They are very bony, but have a mild flavor. They are really good smoked. Later bro, think of me when you hook your first flatty.

First flatty this year, because I gave you advise on your very first one ever. And I live here in Wisconsin and find bluegills etc on the beds in June, July, August and warm September's in Beaver Dam lake and surrounding lakes every year.

Yes stop saying "should I keep one of these next time and cook it" and do it already! They're not that bad. My daughter made me keep one once and it was as good as the bluegills we had that night! Just like a white bass, remove all the fatty tissue on the meat and they're as good as walleye!
