People get fool by those tiktok or influencer thinking trading is quick easy money when it is not, the thing I like about the career is that it is a self gatekeeping regulating job, if you suck you will lose, if you're good you will make money. There is no corruption, no networking, no nepotism, no selective hiring to push you into higher financial position, just a job that require pure skill and merit.

Such an unfortunate event to lose money that you can't afford. PLEASE never, especially in trading, take risks that you can't take the loss that might come with it. Always educate yourself before investing. Read a few books, watch some free YT videos, and join our monthly or annual membership to get familiar with common trading pitfalls. The investment is a fraction of what you might loose.

My brother used his house to buy AAPL around the early 2000's $6-$7 followed by a 50% drop. He could not hold due to leverage on his home. He lost is home. Sad story due to AAPL being where it is now. Right idea - wrong execution using his house as leverage. Don't use what you can't lose PERIOD.

Looks like she bought TSLA on a earnings day. If you want to speculate on earnings buy put/calls your premium is the risk. And she's buying TSLA after a 90% run in the 2 months prior. Really unfortunate !

tesla 295 was a little before earnings last year. I actually sold tesla around that price last year before earnings and I remember tesla dropping sharply after earnings.

She bought in anticipation of the earnings, either a day before or 2 days before, earnings were July 20th 2022. In 2022/2023 I have pretty much traded TSLA intra day on a daily basis, and also have held core positions in it. @@ice_kube96

I only trade names at ATH, or strong uptrends. So I can define a clear stop level as a swing trader. No. 1 rule is ‘no big losses’ hope she has the courage to trim 1/2 or take it.

@BearBullTraders i have been learning the last 2 years. Luckily I have lost only bout 2k. People need to only trade what you can AFFORD TO LOSE. I had 1k and then I deposited 50 bucks weekly until I had 1k in another brokerage.. I still play small amounts 100 shares or 1or 2 contracts if doin options. Options have killed me so I am weening myself off of options

I actually averaged down on a losing stock and eventually stock went up and I made money. There is not black and white answer to such situations

Of course not, not the best experience, you are rewarding a bad habit really

Averaging down occasionally works: the problem emerges when it stops working, or when it creates a viscous habit of adding more and more. Feed this habit enough and you will wipe out your account on a few bad days.
