@@SeanWintersi think the big issue people had is with your second part- what’s wrong with not wanting kids? i’m not saying you necessarily said it was wrong, but you saying “not those that wanted kids but couldn’t have them” implies that women that don’t want kids are lesser than women that want kids. which isn’t true. as someone that wants kids, there’s no need to shame someone for not wanting kids for whatever reason. it’s their body, their life.
@GeorgePerakis
@GeorgePerakis 9 күн бұрын
@@user-kd7el1rm1dHi bot. It's okay to shame people for not wanting kids. In fact you should do it. America has a birthrate far below replacement. That means you have a declining, aging population, that means your economy will eventually collapse under its own rate unless serious levels of automation kick in. So yeah, everyone who chooses not to have kids when they can afford to is a selfish asshole, who doesn't care about future generations. If you care about your kids and their future, you will shame the childless, it's nothing but good societal practice. You think shaming people is bad because you've been brainwashed by the people who deserve to be shamed.

Abraham Lincoln: "I can't take this shit any more" Teddy Roosevelt: "I got this, Abe"
@ellaceleste2929
@ellaceleste2929 15 күн бұрын
Teddy is a beast of a historical figure. Took a bullet to the chest and continued giving a speech. He Improved trade, broke monopolies, created numerous systems like drug administration which we still use today, created national parks which helps preserve wild life, and more all in one term. Very few presidents in recent times or history even compare to Teddy for what they have done for America. He certainly earned the spot he has on Mount Rushmore. He is my personal favorite president in history. (Abe didn't start the civil war for African-American freedom the conservatives did as soon as he was elected into office and receded from the union) Abe did play a important part during the war, but that all would have happened with or without him. George Washington on the other hand is another amazing historical president. Led fights against the British when America was at a major disadvantage as it wasn't the power house it is now, helped establish the amazing democratic country we have now and overall was just ahead of his time. George Washington stated all the way back then that a two party system would divide the country and he was right. The issue we have now was called out by George Washington back then as if he could see hundreds of years into the future. I love American history!

There's a concept that's been coined in the UK "footballification" The idea that you have your "teams" scarf tied so tightly round your neck to cut of the flow of blood to your brain you can only see the enemy and your teams colours. This is the biggest problem with FPTP as a concept, it forced conflict through defacto enforced two party systems. There is no representation of peoples views only the one who wins the most seats in the best places, it also forces a complete lack of consensus politics since the one with all the power has all the power even if the least support it.

In the presidential election very few states don’t have a wide margin well known going in. In those states you get no say in the top-line outcome but a third-party gets a much bigger bump from your ballot since their numbers are so much smaller. The same goes for a t office where you don’t care so much, or with a foregone conclusion, or that you feel like actually influencing the “wrong” outcome on purpose. It’s one way to add a dab of pressure to get ranked-choice voting in your city or state.

Knox, as someone from a country with a multi party system (Poland) I can say that it isn't any better. Sure, in theory we have more options to choose, but at the end of the day it's all the same shit and it always consists in choosing whoever "sucks less". The only difference is that in the US you have to choose between two parties and here between plenty of them. All these smaller parties get like 10% of the parliament and they only pretend to do something, while in reality only making laws harder to pass, because whoever wants to create a stable government needs their support. So they enter coalitions and destroy them, because they don't care about the country, just about being the next party in charge, replacing the bigger ones. So... there is no difference. And in terms of a rap battle, I didn't really enjoy this one :/ still the best one for me is Trump vs Hillary, it was so well done, just technically. This one brings back memories of old ERBs, not so technologically advanced. The last couple of them just looked so good, it didn't even feel like I watched something made with CGI, whereas this one just looks like some B-class cinema crap :/ And the lyrics were less meaningful, I think. In Trump vs Biden battle I kinda forgave them, because it was made during pandemic, they weren't in conditions to do something better, I understand, but now... I'm disappointed.

Just for comparison: Finland is a democratic nation. We currently have 17 registered political parties across the political field. In last election, just like in every election before since I was 18, I voted for a more left and liberal leaning candidate out of the bunch, because that's what aligns more with my personal views. A moderate right-wing politician won and I still think he was a good choice. That's what the majority of Finland wanted and also, I think he'll do good as the highest commander of the army if a day comes when we REALLY need one (if you catch my drift), which was my biggest concern on this particular election. Anything but the furthest right-wing party we have, I am fine with. Also, on that note: My best friend understands politics a lot better than I do (he studied political history at university) and he said that our far right is America's moderate right and our far left is America's moderate left. We don't have either of the extremes. One big reason why this is is because we're so much smaller as a nation, there's only ~5,5 million people in the entire country. He listed other reasons as well, but I don't remember them anymore, we had this conversation ~5 years ago.
@TyroRNG
@TyroRNG 23 күн бұрын
The biggest upsides I see in a multiparty system - The need for coalitions prevents or at least softens extremism - Little to no party affiliation, I just vote for whatever I agree with most regardless which party, compared to the strong division of the population caused by a two party system Ofcourse there are downsides - Coalitions make change hard and slow, extremism might be slowed but so is most of everything else - Hard to keep track of what exactly every party stands for with so many parties (ofcourse there are tools that help, though they might be biased) Still would take it over a two party systen every time, too much power to one political view and reversing each others policies after getting a flip
@Zinetha
@Zinetha 23 күн бұрын
@@TyroRNG Good points. I don't mind change being slow, when it still represents what the nation as a whole wants. And personally, I feel like that also softens extremism, because an individual still feels like they have a chance to flip things back around if they feel like things are moving in a direction they don't want them to move to. Sudden changes would create more backlash, people would have no time to object nor adapt. It IS hard to keep track of what they stand for. There are couple parties I tend to vote depending on the candidates on that particular election and I somewhat know what those parties are about, but especially the ones closer to the middle, I have no idea why are there so many and what their differences are. There's this online thing called Vaalikone (loosely translates to "Election Machine") where candidates can put in their answers and then you put in yours and it compares those and finds your candidate for you. I usually do that and then scroll the results until I find a person I like. Especially in elections with more candidates than the presidential one, like voting for the parliament for the country and voting for the city council. Not all candidates put in their answers in the first place but to them I say hey 🤷‍♀️ Get with the times, not everyone knows everyone and everything, and not everyone has the time or the interest to get that deep into every single nyance of someone's politics. This way I easily find their answers to the questions I want to know the most, like their immigration policy and stances on queer rights and mandatory Swedish studies in schools, possible other burning subjects of the moment. Ones that don't push veganism (too hard) or any radical environmental changes I don't agree with (because you can imagine those being things the left pushes for). Then, like I said, I weed through those, and find a party I'm familiar with (because sometimes there are small, short lived political parties that pop up and a few years later, they're gone AND the number of votes a party gets dictates how many seats they get in the 200 member parliament, so the party does matter as well, can't be out there voting small parties no one else votes for, that's just a quarantee they won't get in at all). I was a little surprised we got another right-wing president right after the previous one who was also right-wing, we tend to go back and forth. But knowing the history of the country, I'm not surprised. Finland was founded as the result of a civil war. The right-wing wanted us to be independent, where the left-wing wanted us to stay under Russian rule, learn their Communist ways and then become independent. The right-wing won, they're now the Finnish army, basically (we're a conscription country, it's not politically charged anymore) and we gained our independence, in 1917, so not that long ago. And now with Russia being open about the fact that they do in fact want to take over Finland, I get why people want a more right-wing leader at times like these. We're not perfect, though. The far-right party I don't agree with apparently had a very "down with the kids" social media campaign and all the 18 to 20-somethings voted for them because they found them funny and now we have them in the parliament, cutting student social benefits... I wish there was someone I could tell "I told you so".

Knox, You got one thing wrong, about the immigration bill, it wasn't about the election it was about poison pills in the bill, regarding funding to ukraine, and a lot of mandates that would have been mandated into law, such as the remain in Mexico policy being something you cant get rid of, as well as the mandated minimum of crossings. we can argue whether or not its justified, and I'm not making an argument as to why the bill was good or bad, but the reason the bill was killed (and this has been admitted by democrats, including John Fetterman of PA) had nothing to do with political stratefy, it was because they felt the bill did more harm than good. I'm not calling you biased, because you arent, you treated both sides pretty fair IMO, I'm just saying you got this one thing off
@KnoxHill
@KnoxHill 15 күн бұрын
Are you not familiar with how a bipartisan bill works? There is often money for other causes and projects included as compromises are made and agreed upon to get bills passed and people get what they want for their constituents. In this case Democrats wanted the promised money to Ukraine, Republicans wanted their border policy. The thing is, many GOP members never thought the Dems would actually back this bill because this was definitely a more conservative immigration policy in the bill than liberal approach, and that's my point. It was indeed a win in the middle of. Democratic presidents term and controlled Senate. Hell after Trump very publicly had it killed two House members resigned in protest over it. The poison pills regarding migrants etc and numbers have already been refuted by the Republican underwriters and is misinformation to distract and red herring the real reasons why it was killed. Have you actually read the bill? I suggest doing so.

A "border protection bill" that had more aid for Israel in it than it did funding for the the southern border. Whose border was that bill to protect?
@JadusMoltriel
@JadusMoltriel 24 күн бұрын
The entire reason the bill was created was BECAUSE the Congressional Republicans refused to provide aid to Ukraine, as well as Israel, unless a Border Bill was made. So there was a Bi-Partisan compromise, in which the Democratic led Senate agreed with the Republican House, to grant the Republican border policies, in exchange for the support for our foreign affairs. That was literally the point. The Bill contained an enormous amount of Conservative border policies that Democrats were against, but they felt it was more important to provide aid to Ukraine to reduce casualties than to refuse the Border policies. It was a compromise. So referencing the foreign aid included as if that's some kind of "gatcha" that proves the bill wasn't good, is enormously dishonest and deceptive. What happened was that much of the Republican Party didn't expect the Democrats to actually agree to the compromise. They were just trying to use the issue of the border as leverage to withhold foreign funds. But the compromise DID happen, and the Bill was written primarily by one of the most conservative Senators in the country, from Oklahoma. When Trump found out it was about to actually happen, he publically ordered Congressional House members to k1ll it immediately, without even holding a vote. It passed the Senate with bi-partisan support, but the House obeyed Trump and prevented it from happening. He didn't want the Border to appear to be fixed, or working towards a fix, before the election, because he wants to run on the issue. This is all public knowledge. He wasn't secretive about it or his reasons. He also didn't expect Democrats to be willing to compromise, so all along Conservatives were just using the Border as a means to avoid providing support to Ukraine, with no sincerity to actually follow through if the compromise was agreed upon. It was so dishonest, and it's why several prominent Senate Republicans feel betrayed. The bill had SO many of their long held priorities, yet it was shot down for political reasons. At least two Republican House members RESIGNED over the toxic politics of it.

This reaction was pretty good but the political both sides-ing grated on me a little bit. Like presenting the documents thing like "well you guys kinda did that too" is absurd because no they did not do the same thing. Trump maliciously started taking classified documents home with him with no intention of returning them, which is otherwise known as stealing, after losing an election because he's a spiteful baby. And then spent months evading the government's request to have those documents returned and then started trying to get away with doing partial returns, claiming that was everything to try and get away retaining at least a part of his horde. Until eventually the government had to raid his house to get them back due to his unrelenting obstructionism. Whereas Biden, as far as anyone can tell, forgot he had some shit and immediately gave it back once someone realized it was missing and asked for it. To present these things as if they're anywhere near the same level indicates you didn't really know anything about one or both of these situations or deliberate obtuseness. And look, you can dislike Kamala all you want, I'm not exactly on the same page as her either. But ya know what's she's never done? Say we should use the military against the "enemies within" and and then go on to immediately clarify she means the American people who disagree with her politically. Because Trump did do that. Like two weeks ago he said "I think the bigger problem are the people from within. We have some very bad people, we have some sick people. Radical left lunatics and I think they're the b, and it should be very easily handled by, if necessary by national guard or if really necessary by the military" If we are to insist they are "both bad" it should be with the stipulation that one is like stubbing your toe while the other is like getting shot in the stomach.

@@Darshyboy I don't. Actually the quote I took is from an interview he did for Fox News and you can find it on the fox Business KZbin channel on a video titled "Trump - the enemy from within more dangerous than any foreign entity" starting at 9 minutes in. And his legal defense for the documents had basically been "it's not illegal when the president does it" which is an admission of guilt as far as I'm concerned. Does it ever wear on you? to be so wrong all the time with nothing but your faith that such an obviously crooked man could do no wrong to buoy you?

@@technotrouble3386 oh yeah it's totally cool to order the military to attack your own populace as long as it's the "radical left". Which according to him at least is anyone to the right of freaking Joe Biden. Do you even hear yourselves? This is what I'm talking about, you're monsters.

Pretty sure they were both going about looks. It's supposed to be a reference to 'Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney' where the candidates dissolve to childish insults.

@alananimus9145 23 күн бұрын
@@Just-some-bird07 That interpretation literally makes no sense. Trump is known for making comments about women's appearance, Kamala is not known for making personal attacks about appearances. One thing ERB is very good at is making the things that come out of their mouths something you could believe the candidate would say if allowed to just go off. Are you actually trying to tell me that you could imagine Kamala insulting Trumps physical appearance? Straight up no. But she very much has all but said Trump is ugly as a person. That is what makes that line so good. She takes his insult and flips it back on him after sharpening the knife. There is actually a couple of places where the cut is way deeper than people are seeing but because they either lack a piece of information or memory hole it they don't see it. For example the Cali line was straight up a reference to him being an adjudicated rapist. The best line though goes to FDR and his reference to Trump being an insurrectionist who attempted a coup. "Don't send democracy to chapter 11"

@@alananimus9145 She went for 'your mommy was absent'. Sure, ERB is mostly accurate about the battlers' real-life personalities but not a 100% or many of the battles wouldn't even happen. Do you legitimately imagine the real-life John Henson and Stan Lee insult each other? Also, you're talking about Teddy, not FDR.

Normally I would agree when it comes to being neutral and trying to be well informed on the situation at hand, but I simply cannot and do not understand how anyone can hear the repeated rhetoric of Trump (or his buddies) and either vote for him or be okay with him in office. We are being warned by people who worked with him closely that he is dangerous, and his rally last night in New York was borderline dystopian and full on White Nationalist; yes both candidates suck... but the difference is Trump is irredeemable levels of suck, Kamala is legitimately redeemable if she gets into office. I fear things are going to get uglier as long as Trump has a platform, and it'll make J6 seem like child's play. Stay safe. Stay informed. Go vote everyone.
