Finally: Jim and an advanced A.I. prevent me from ever needing to read the Gitrog primer. Bless up!

I remember first seeing the 22(?) page Gitrog combo primer a few years ago and just closing it because it scared me deep down to my bones. 9 minutes, though? That's a bit more digestible. Edit: OH SNAP REBELL IN THIS. Can't double like the video, but I tried.
@BuleGamer963 жыл бұрын
Ty for that video, I'm a Gitrog player, and sometimes the combo is really hard to pilot, it requires a good knowledge of magic, but when I'm playing Gitrog, i can feel the power of the deck.

Coming from playing Modern Amulet Titan since about 2016 this deck feels right at home. Convoluted combo lines are the name of the game 😂
@MutilatedBunny3 жыл бұрын
Are you a rules lawyer? Do you want your combo to be as convoluted as possible? Where even on explanation video they skip a portion (end step sculpt) because it does borderline breaks the rules? Gitrog is for you.

What happens if you counter the shuffle trigger, assuming they only have one shuffler?
@TheSpikeFeeders3 жыл бұрын
In theory it means that the eldrazi titan will just sit in their graveyard, but most lists are playing 2 shufflers so they'll likely just keep dredging until they hit the other one. If you've got a stifle you're probably better off pointing it at the Gitrog draw trigger to prevent them from dredging. It might buy you a turn if they don't have another land in hand to discard.

Lets say you have all the pieces: Discard outlet+ Gitrog on the board and Dakmor in hand. Now Somebody wants to pongify your gitrog/Outlet can you do the combo/loop in reaction before the Pongify resolves, because the discard is at instant Speed?
@BEkink519 ай бұрын
If you have another land to discard yes, so say i discard dakmor salvage trigger gitrog, you respond with removal in response i can discard another land to trigger gitrog to "draw" dredge dakmor. Then ill put a bunch of draw triggers on the stack while shuffling my graveyard back to either find another discard outlet or be able to recast gitrog

@reaganfriedrice50583 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why this isn't shortcuttable. Except for, of course, an instance where an opponent has interaction. Once you have a discard outlet, and a shuffler in your deck, and dackmoor in hand, it's game.
@TheSpikeFeeders3 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking it's because the MTR is designed to make tournaments run smoothly, and combos that involve nondeterministic elements like decision trees are not guaranteed to end the game within the allotted round time. The comprehensive rules allow any of the Gitrog players' opponents to interact at any point in the combo, and if they do, the combo player needs to be able to accurately represent their board state. So if I'm one of the opponents and I say I want to wait until the 5th iteration of the loop to interact, you need to be able to tell me which cards are in your graveyard and which are in your library and how many cards in hand because it's relevant to my decision. It's not possible to do that without actually taking the game actions. That being said, in practice what you've described is exactly how it goes. If everyone understands how it works and what the win condition looks like there's no point in playing it out because their win is inevitable.

@bendinguy59143 жыл бұрын
Generally the solution to Notion Thief is to just make them deck out, this would do the same thing.
@PhazonOmega3 жыл бұрын
@@bendinguy5914 Possibly, but they would need enough lands to discard to make that happen. You can't replace your draw with dredge if you don't have a draw in the first place, and cards like Notion Thief keeps Gitrog from drawing. Unless there's something I'm missing about Gitrog that could get around this? I'm not super familiar with Gitrog, so that is possible.
@bendinguy59143 жыл бұрын
@@PhazonOmega you can choose to dredge instead of draw. Notion Thief and Dredge are both replacement effects
@panzerjaeger38473 жыл бұрын
Notion thief does nth to gitrog once you have the combo assembled, hell even if you only have a different dredger for eg troll, it replaces the draw with dredge so you can dig until you get dakmor and proceed to make the opp draw out his or her deck assuming they have thief in play
