I had a ton of fun trying out the W900! It won't be in stock in the US for a few months, but the very similar W800 is available now: amzn.to/3XmbDD7 (affiliate link) if you don't care so much about the wireless system. You can also learn more about the W900 here: www.gtrs.tech/single-product.html?id=127. Thanks again to MOOER for sending me the guitar to try and for sponsoring this video!

I recently bought the W800 model and I really enjoy it so far. I'm a beginner guitarist so, I like being able to test out effects before buying expensive pedals and amps. I also live in an apartment complex so being able to plug in headphones is a big plus for me. Anyone wondering, I had to use stereo headphones with a jack adapter, my wireless headphones didn't work with the W800 model. I got mixed answers when I had asked if my wireless headphones would work or not with the guitar so, I figured I'd clear it up for anyone considering buying the guitar.

Good morning. Thanks for that review. Super cool. The GTRS is a super important guitar in more ways you can imagine. It can send amps and cabs to museums. Almost like smart phones did to pocket point and shoot cameras, CDs to vinyl, MP3 to CDs ..... but have you had the chance to gig with it? The blurb on the guitar doesn't really go into that side of it. Being UHF, I don't think it is digital neither dual band. Would there be drop-outs?

The fanning is supposed to improve the string tension (particularly on the low strings) in lower tunings. Thats why you see it typically on extended range guitars. Fanned fret 6 strings are not that common. But it still makes sense

Whilst it states 25.5” scale, fanned fret guitars will have longer scale length on the lower strings. The low E is clearly around an inch longer than the high e here. Look at the difference in scale at 12th fret and double it. :)

I once tried a headless Steinberger a friend purchased when they first came out, and I had a difficult time because I must "sight" where I am on the fretboard based on distance from the headstock. I'm sure I'd get used to it, but my question would be the adjustment time when switching back and forth between the modified guitar and a traditional type. That's also my question about the fanned frets... when you switched back to one of your other guitars was there a re-adjustment time? I do love the finish! The purple one would be brilliant. 💜 Being completely wireless would be great for at home practicing; being able to just pick up the guitar and move freely from room to room. 😊
@RachelfGuitar2 жыл бұрын
That is an interesting question! I actually personally haven't noticed much of a difference/adjustment between headless and normal guitars when switching back and forth, but I have mainly been playing this one recently to fully try it out for this video. I can totally see how that could be a thing to adjust to depending on how you move around the guitar though! The fanned frets I haven't had much of an issue with after getting used to them initially, but I suppose if you played only fanned for a long time it could take a little while to get re-accustomed with normal frets. But I feel like it would only take around an hour or so. I probably have to send this guitar back, otherwise I'd be happy to test that out more to verify! I do love the purple/blue color, but this one is cool too :)

I always thought the fanned frets were ONLY for multiscale. But my big question is how that strung? Are the saddles rolling or are those the ball ends? I assumed the ball locked up top on headless and the bridge acted like more of a Floyd and knifed into the other end to hold it. Sigh I have just enough knowledge about guitars to confuse myself further everyday!
@RachelfGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Fanned frets are definitely mostly used with multiscale guitars, but it seems like they're being used in more guitars recently (the Ibanez headless models do the same thing if I remember correctly). The ball ends are in the saddles with this guitar, so kind of the opposite!

The fan fret or Multi-scale guitar design was built for more accurate tuning. The fatter lower strings need a slightly longer neck than the smaller lighter strings.. ever look at e harp.. So in the past, you could buy a Gibson with a 25 1/2 inch neck or a fender with a 27 inch neck.. later EVH was noted as the 1st to put a Humbucker (Gibson) pickup in a Fender body.. .. so the different size necks had different tones, think of the fan neck as bridging the gap...

Unfortunately the price is a bit too much for me. And i think the end of the headless headstock could be a bit less square. It kinda looks like someone just cut it off and sanded it. Itd be cool if it curved like the body cut. Especially on the back of the headstock its literally a square. Other than that my god its beautiful. Doing a black mother of pearl pickguard would make it one of the top 3 prettiest guitars ive seen all year. You should play some spacey metal on it. Do you have a band or a project?

I like it just fine even though you could not get the color I wanted (black) but I inquired if I could BUY the new electronics to get the wireless and they wouldn't consider it. Even though I have a ton of mooer stuff. I would have paid pretty much anything they wanted, I just didn't want to buy another whole new guitar from them. They claimed the PLUG IN electronics might not be compatible with the pick up in the 800 (preposterous) so they have no interest in selling me the new parts FOR A GUITAR I BOUGHT FROM THEM. So...they're off my Christmas card list. If they won't even support a loyal customer I can't see spending money with them again. Just so you know.
