@@johnlacasse8893 no.. he’s going to go with the best Smith&Wesson have.. that’s how sponsorship works. And that only shows how great of a shooter Jerry is. Not that it’s the best gun lol. Also, let's be honest he could outshoot most of us with an unmoded hi-point... But probably not at his highest level.

It’s good marketing, cause who doesn’t want to shoot like Jerry, right? Personally, that also makes it hard for me to take his word as a genuine “endorsement”. To be fair this M&P is far from a game changer. The aluminum doesn't do anything but but make the recoil feel sharper. The mag basepads are a terrible design. Other than being made in Turkey the Rival-S is just better. I'd rather have a Walther 5", SIG P320 X5 or even the HK VP9 5".

The only 3 things that the Competitor has the are different that I'd like to have are 2 more mags, the cool green sight on the end of the barrel, and a hard case to carry the my gun in! My gun is so accurate that I don't want a red dot! But to me,there isn't much difference between these 2 guns to make me interested in having a Competitor!

I commented the same. It’s accurate enough without a red dot. With the exception of the length, slide cuts, etc…. all the things you desire can be added for an affordable price. I compete with m&p pistols and I have a suggestion. my m&p pistols all lock back except for the 5" 2.0 model when I first got it.. I realized that my support hand , the palm of my hand was resting on the slide release. Not my thumb as most were suggesting and most said there's nothing I can do it about.. WRONG.... my solution was to cut off most of the material from the slide release leaving only a small upper lip portion intact. This procedure magically fixed the issue.. In your case from what I'm seeing is that your thumb is riding the release.. Make an effort to float your thumb off the release and see if that fixes the problem, if so then do what I did. cut most of the bottom portion of the release off and leave a small lip ... also I'm not sure if you compete or not but if you do, whey do you release the slide by racking it? that slows down your reloads.. use your thumb or slam that mag in and it will force the slide closed .. Love that feature of the gun. Enjoy your bad ass new m&p

The weight difference is only 2oz plus you lose polymer flex. What are your thoughts? Also, I want a threaded barrel for a can eventually and you can get a 4.25 polymer version with the threaded barrel and raised 3 dot sights for under $600. The metal 2.0 is $850 everywhere. In both cases, I'll have to spend extra money to swap out the factory sights for night sights. My M&P compact did the same thing with not locking back. It's an issue with the slide stop not being bent correctly. When you take out the ambidextrous slide stop, it is "U" shaped. In mine the "U" was flared outward and was causing it to hang up on the frame, just like you showed in the video. I just bent it by hand so that the 2 sides were parallel, and it fixed the problem.

Nice review bro. By the way in competition you don’t want co witness sights. It just interferes with the sight picture for a lot of shooters. Co witness sights is a concealed carry thing. Also if they would of “comped” or “ported” it , it would have no place anywhere in competition besides open division which would be dumb because that’s a race gun division. PS: the Canik Rival laughs at that gun. Ask any competition shooter.

I love the aesthetics but there are actually a few things S&W needs to improve upon with this version of the M&P. 1) I prefer a heavier weight frame on a competition gun. I would love to see this gun with a stainless steel frame. 2) the plastic grip on the front strap has play in it. S&W should have just milled the grip texture on the front strap -especially on a $1k pistol. 3) the slide to frame play is horrendous. Again I expect more for a $1k M&P pistol.

Metal frame would be good for swing weight, like when you’re going full speed on the clock. Sights being regular height as stated are for non optics classes, adjustable would be preferred, target focus is the ideal in a game. Leaving springing and trigger up to the owner would cater to competition shooters as everyone has their own preferences for final tune. Flat range with no movement isn’t highlighting what metal framed competition pistols are for. Adhering to common IPSC, idpa, USPSA equipment rules as a base for optimization is normal. 9mm is going to be the usual bc hardcore Limited shooters will want 40, and Open are loading Major. So no 10mm or 45 because Heavy Metal is a niche that’s also capacity and sometimes ignition type limited.

With comps you need the hottest load you can use to get the most out of the comp.. some 115g nato would be best.. it’s the exact opposite of what one thinks.. the hotter the load the softer the recoil is when using a comp.. Regular range ammo it will have a lot more recoil then is you loaded in something like nato or Buffalo bore or some 115 +p type ammo.. As for slide like.. you usually are not going to get slide lock on better made competition/race guns.. now I would expect this one to still lock tbh.. but you can get a $3000 2011 and you’re not gonna get slide lock most of the time either.. it’s a product of how they are tuned to shoot flat and the combination of springs used vs the cyclic rate of the slide being speed up so much they generally will over tune the catch on the mag faster then it can catch.. For what this gun is I don’t think that is the issue.. S&W Wesson going to lighten the springs that much.. they are more of a function and reliability of performance company so i would agree there is something wrong in this gun.. likely just needs a new higher power spring for the slide stop/release..
