I dig Korn. These earlier albums were definitely Jonathan Davis's therapy.

I feel like kids these days are genuinely missing an outlet for grief, anger, anxiety, etc in their music that us 80s and 90s kids had in bands like Korn. People now are like "you must be so angry listening to music like that" but it's the opposite. The anger goes into it.

My favorite band by far. It's a really important band for people who had an extremely messed up childhood. Other bands singing about partying, love, and politics. This is more about the emotional, and mental state people get in, and has very accurate lyrics for that kind of stuff. It takes an amazing amount of self awareness, and deep self analysis. Something a lot more people need to do on a regular basis.
@Dudeman4ever2 жыл бұрын
I saw some older guy react to this song and he thought the video was satanic, he didn't understand that it's causing awareness of people who have gone through that stuff and listening to it could be a way for those people to help cope and heal. It's awesome that you understood the message right off the bat. Subscribed 👍

The singer, Jonathon Davis, was advised emotionally physically and sexually, as well as bullied and abused during school. Poor guy didn't seem to get a break till after they were famous. When the band first started they played a show a had a guy try to fight him, but I think it was the groups manager ended up jumping in and beating that guy down. Then just a few years ago Jonathon Davis lost his wife to cancer. As aggressive and took her quick. He was also a mortician and basically owns a museum of serial killer stuff. Oh yeah and he is also a DJ. And his half brother also had a moment of fame singing in another nu-metal band. Had a crippling drug addiction and drinking problem. Inspiring how he keeps going even though life has given him every reason to not keep going. And for the sake of your soul, don't listen to the song daddy. It will break you, it's based on his childhood. It broke him just to sing it once in the studio and took almost 15 years for him to be able to ever fully play it live.

he didn’t even get a break when they got famous, he was dealing with multiple addictions until around 1999, and was put on su1c1de watch for a large portion of the family values tour in 1999. the band have also been very open about how the other members of korn used to bully jonathan, so he was bullied not only his entire childhood but also into his adult life by his friends. he was also abused by his ex wife, and got custody of their children just a couple of days before she died from an overdose.

The singer of korn jonathan davis was abused as a child and thats where we get all this emotion in korn's music. Its raw and powerful. And they really lay it out. Korn is my all time favorite band. I can listen to them for hours and do daily. You said they are different... yes, yes they are, there was no mold to form them... completely organic

As someone who grew up listening to porn horn was my very first band. I got interested into when I turned 16 after spending the last 16 years, only being able to listen to Michael Jackson coming from a household of parents who were addicted and grandparents who are very strict and religious you do find yourself and compromising positions like this as a child now Jonathan Davis, who is, the lead singer of this band went through many things in his childhood, including SA the generation I grow up and really only had music in each other to lean on for support going through these tough times we are all now grown hopefully most of us have been able to forgive and heal, but the scar tissue is still there. The music remain and it keeps us all connected, being an African-American female was always look down on for liking this kind of music. I never really gravitate towards R&B or rat. This was my home. This music is where I felt comfortable with a grown up watching and feeling the same as many of these members of these bands, and I hold it, dear sacred to my heart, as well as the children who had to suffer through the same thing I did as Jonathan Davis did

You should check out Shoots and Ladders. It's one of my favorites. Also, someone said to not react to Daddy. I agree. It's a devastating song for those who have been abused. The first time I heard it I wanted to puke. If you can't handle a visual of childhood trauma then I wouldn't go there. You'll want to fuck some ppl up after💔

Daddy is actually a very cathartic song for survivors of abuse, speaking as one myself. Yeah, it's a rough listen and makes you feel yucky feelings, but that's how victims of abuse feel everyday after it happens. It's very comforting to know that someone else truly knows how I feel. It's a song that means a lot to me, and a lot of other people like me. Also, YES to Shoots and Ladders! 🤘

Regardless of what is happening in the video, I think the what is beating him down is life. And the thing that is, "falling away from me" is himself. His self identity. At least that is what I got out of the lyrics, sans video. I think that is most evident when he talks about suicide and how life is "literally" going to beat him down into the ground.
