@@defaultgraycat, to be fair the only real reason the pillar of autumn escaped was because the remaining forces were destroyed in that area, otherwise the moment they hit slipspace or something, they would be met with an armada bigger than halo CE, also no spartans most likely, noble 6 wanted to die saving his people.

I'd like to think they're executing a last ditch effort to save any spartans that (while presumed dead) could still be alive (the spartan corpses everywhere). Every spartan counts at this stage in the war. Plus the idea of going out with a bang makes sense, the planet's burning, and the pillar of autumn barely escaped through a hole in the covenant fleet that seems to have already been refilled (meaning that frigate is doomed).

@@void-master9077 Whoever wanted to follow the Autumn would have been able to do so, even if they left after the fall of Reach, because of how much faster the Covenant ships were. The reason the Autumn was able to take off was because Six shot down the ship coming in to glass it. At this point though there was no more glassing going on and any ship that was capable of escaping the atmosphere could have while the Covenant were caught off guard.

His selfless sacrifice makes me like him more, surrounded by the enemy gazing at his home planet he fought so hard to protect alone. Then had ally’s who all worked towards the same goal, just for all of it to be taken away and end up alone again. Most badass character in video game history for me. The community trying to take that away kinda sucks to I agree.

The Pillar of Autumn escaped *_because_* nobody else tried to. It's also called, "Covering a retreat." While it's silly to think that many Spartan's died for one Spartan, it did eventually turn out to be a gamble that saved humanity. Hindsight is 20/20

Mods like this are entertaining, to say the least. Canonically speaking, there was basically no UNSC resistance left on or around Reach for anyone to stage this kind of rescue for a single Spartan. I always thought something lower key would be more apt, like a single Frigate that sends a Pelican down once a timer is finished, but large battles like this are ridiculously impossible. It's funny to see everyone still hung up on Noble Six's last stand.

I think I remember that in a novel 6 was able to get away from that position and link up with the remnants of the UNSC, and held out with them for several weeks until they were finally glassed because they just posed that big of a problem. Honestly if that novel is cannon that would've been a great ending, not to say that 6 holding out as the last member of a bigger squad and finally being overpowered wasn't a good ending.

@@KomradeDoge That doesn't seem possible, since virtually every USNC combat element in and around the Azsod Boneyard had been wiped out by the time the Autumn took off, and the ending cutscene literally shows no way of Six surviving that final confrontation. Canonically speaking, Six's death takes place on the 30th of August only like a couple hours after the Autumn took off, so I don't know what book you read that suggested that other than a fanficiton.

I haven't read many of the Halo books just because of their sheer volume, I heard thos secondhand so it very easily could have been a different UNSC remnant group on Reach that the person I got it from mixed up with 6, or been on a different planet with a different spartan but similar circumstances.

@@KomradeDoge I wouldn't trust anything you hear second hand from a Halo fan. Not to be insulting, but most fans generally have a poor understanding of Halo lore that they supplement with their often flawed speculation, leading to a lot of misinterpretations. It's better to get your lore first hand, whether directly from the source or distilled through Halopedia. I've committed most Spartans to memory and I honestly can't think of a single one that would have suffered the fate you described, whether it's Model-IIs or IIIs. The only one that comes to mind that might fit the bill is Daisy-023 from Homecoming, but she was evacuating alongside a group of Marines and never experienced a glassing -to my knowledge,- so I can only assume it's either from fanfiction or just plain made up. No offense.

Kids nowdays don’t how much of a downgrade Reach was from 3. I might sound like an old grandpa but the inclusion of a reticle bloom and armor abilities like sprint/jet packs and armor lock where all terrible choices to add then and are terrible choices now, and I’ll die on that hill 😂.
