@@beakay.1834I don't agree with your comments. I think everyone has a right to question things that do not make sense. Our brother is a Muslim. He has the same rights as any other Muslims especially when he is in a mosque. In the mosque, there is no nationality, no racism, no differences between one person and another. By the way, can anyone explain why a person is not allowed to video the mosque? What's the rationale? It simply doesn't make sense to me. And if there are any good reasons behind this rule, I think the abang should practice politeness when informing visitors. The abang is simply not islamic in the manner he conducted himself. He probably is arbitrarily exercising this rule on his own whims. The mosque authority should investigate this matter and advise the abang accordingly.
@trentaliatechnology60682 ай бұрын
I am sorry this irrational rule of not being allowed to video the mosque happened. I am appalled. For all we know, the "abang" may be exercising the restriction on his own whims. No mosques I know in Malaysia or in the world would ever have such restrictions. It upsets me much to see this kind of irrationality & rudeness happening to anyone.

Not just Johor having own army, Perak and Negeri Sembilan technically have own army because RAMD (Royal Malay Regiment) originally created by Sultan of Perak and the nobles of Negeri Sembilan, but it opens to all Malays in all states/kingdoms, created since before independence. The federal army called ATM (Malaysian Army) and the reserve army called Wataniah open to all races, created after independence. So, RAMD is the oldest modern army in Malaysia. Before RAMD and before independence, most states/kingdoms only have traditional army and militias, and they're all autonomous. Only Johor maintain this traditional army and militias up to the modern era known as the JMF, other states/kingdoms just joined the RAMD and ATM.

It is exactly along the parking lots where you walk when you mentioned about looking for street food at Taman Sentosa.. Another great video. I’m learning so much of how to be a respectful traveler from your videos. I’m an African-American born and raised in Los Angeles. I grew up in a Christian family that held a deep respect for Islam. As a young adult I even attempted to convert to Islam, but ultimately decided it wasn’t practical for the life I wanted to live in America. I always admired the ancient Islamic prohibition against images, since men have a tendency of distorting religion and history in their own image, which is what distorted Eurocentric history and religion. But with the advent of modern cinema and colonialism in the Islamic world many old Islamic traditions regarding images no longer apply. Perhaps however when the guardians of the mosque you visited were trying to adhere to one of those old traditions, wondering how you would edit the images of the people who were captured on your film. Food for thought.

Been to a lot of mosques as a tourist and were never told we could not take photos of the interior and these were historic mosques in countries like Turkey. I suppose it depends, I think you are not allowed to bring cameras into the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, and we weren’t allowed to bring batteries into the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad because of the terrorist threat when I visited soon after 9/11. Sultan Abu Bakar the Father of Modern Johor was an Anglophile and very open minded when it came to different cultures. Each of his 4 wives were of different ethnicities and heritage. He was a lifelong friend of Queen Victoria. You can see similar moorish architecture in KL notably the old KL Railway Station which is near to the National Mosque which also has very unique modern and avant- garde architecture of the 1960s. The style of architecture is also repeated in Malaysia Parliament House and the nearby national monuments and gardens. The National Museum reflects the traditional Malay culture in its architecture also. Although KL is now famous for its space-age looking towers, I feel the national buildings of the early years of independence reflected the hopes of a new nation much better. Since you will be there, do drop by Putra Mosque in Putrajaya which is built in pink granite. It was Tun Dr Mahathir’s legacy before he stepped down from power as the 4th Prime Minister. It’s some way off outside of KL, but the sunset rays reflecting off the pink walls of the mosque is quite beautiful.

Just like the US, Malaysia comprises of different states each with their own monarchs except for the former British colonies of Penang, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak. When the Malay Peninsula states agreed to join the Federation, the Johor Sultanate negotiated to retain their army as a condition. Johor is one of the richest states in Malaysia and the royal house has its own income apart from the Federal stipend so the Sultan supports his army. He takes a very active interest in the economic development of his state in spite of the curtailing of the power of the monarchs during Tun Dr Mahathir’s time as premier. He is also serving his rotation as the current Agong of Malaysia (like a Supreme Monarch). Just for trivia’s sake, prior to the British colonial period, the Johor empire was vast and the most powerful Malay Kingdom after the fall of the Malaccan Sultanate and was ruled by several princes over their principalities. Sultan Abu Bakar played his cards right with the British when they took interest in Singapore and got their support to his appointment as Sultan of Johor although the empire was downsized. To this day, the Johor sultanate still owns prime property in Singapore.

I don’t want to oust him but I’m sure if anyone can recognize him they can maybe tell him that you should be kind to anyone who enters the mosque, and if you want to enforce any rules you can do it with grace and kindness, to set a good example of our faith inshAllah

@Afghanun2 ай бұрын
@ben-tol no. that place name is Pelangi. Because of the building/shopping mall name is Plaza Pelangi. Short form people call that area as Pelangi. Same as Pandan City Mall, people just call it as Pandan.

The army u are referring to comes under the patronage of the Sultan of Johore, they are separate from Malaysian Armed Forces. The army under the auspices of the Sultan of Johore is his personal standing army. The sultan funds the running of his army and their loyalty is firstly to the Sultan of Johore!

#JBSTYLE please explain to this brother why photos and videos are not allowed in the Masjid.
@twitteringothers50592 ай бұрын
Photos and videos are ALLOWED to be taken in any mosque. There is no religious law which says that. Muslims even take photos of and inside the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

Johor Bahru is a big red flag city in Malaysia. They have their own rules which is the opposite of other cities. Most Malaysians won’t go there for safety reasons

I like watching your vlogs however I think you should have checked before you do a recording or taking photos inside these places of worship. It's basic courtesy 🙏

Here in JB, there are many foreign workers from Pakistan and Bangladesh, so he might have thought you were one of them. Actually, there aren’t any such rules in the mosque... I think that uncle has had issues with foreign workers before, which might be why he treated you that way...

I saw a kedai kopi or coffee shop without Aircon while you are walking the cofee should be RM2.50 only, Here you will be charged 12.00 for 1 coffee. The worst thing I encountered in Singapore is mineral water 300ml cost RM12.00.The Bus charge me SGD2.50 x 2, I don't have cards and being charge SGD10 put inside the cash box as penalty by the bus company, no change given to me that cost sgd7.50 = RM25 wasted. I complaint to bus company in email no reply.
