obvs, you've thought about Davinci Resolve... It's freee and why dont you try it? Color is the strong point, but they went full NLE, with a ton of sound upgrades as well.

I had issues with the Magic Bullet Film standalone plugin too when it first came out. The film plugin is also an effect in Red Giant's larger plugin Magic Bullet Looks and when I used Film inside Looks instead it gave me no issues at all. Hope that helps!

Had some issues with Red Giant stuff as well back in January. One of their installers for Magic Bullet looks just wouldn't cooperate with Premiere CC 2017 so if I tried to use Looks it would work for a few shots and then totally crash and make the whole project almost unusable unless you could open and delete all the effects from every clip super fast. Eventually gave up and learned resolve but now it all magically works again. Super frustrating but glad it made me learn something new

If your an apple user then definitely would recommend Final Cut Pro, I got fed up with premiere as well so switched to final cut. It still has its problems but has been positive for the most part for quick edits like vlogs etc.

But this was back when the camcorder was the full shoulder version with it's own huge briefcase for travel LOL I recently found a bunch of old family videos from the early 90's...Pure gold LOL I bought a converter and was able to upload a bunch of the old videos for my family to see... It could be a problem with the newest version of macos. I had also a problem in premiere with flickering. I had forgotten to install the nvidea driver, but the new macs don't have nvidea graphics cards. I think the problem could be because of an graphic processor rendering issue. You could try rendering software only.

from my experience, the magic bullet issue really has to do with Adobe. You need to clean out your Adobe render and temp files also delete or rename the preferences folder for Adobe in Documents just add a .old to it the Adobe apps will have to rebuild them when it starts up again. do a clean reboot after that. You should be good for months of heavy editing. Also here is a tip keep your apps on your Mac HD - your temp Adobe files on a separate SSD then a second SSD for your current media the rest can stay on a NAZ drive that way your computer is never trying to access the same HD at the same time for the different process. I know this is super geeky but it works. Also Lumitri color in Adobe is almost as good and the magic bullet plug ins I use them much less now typically only add them at the end of a project on an adjustment layer to add extra pop.

Hm, did you really have to reinstall everything? I always restore from Time Machine when I switch Macs, or I clone the drive using Disk Utility. That way, the new Mac will be an identical copy of the old one, with minimum effort.
