Oh god no. I love it, but this is in no way fun. Their acceleration, build, and freedom is beyond interesting, but by its way too pessimistic. The future is fun, it’s strange and new, but that’s what makes it fun, not anxiety ridden or scary. Again, I love the band, but it’s like saying the future ends in nuclear warfare, like some Cold War era vision of the future.

@@NOWthebandnot sure if you’re being ironic, but if not, based is essentially a way of saying “cool”, it’s gained traction over the past few years. Though, it originated with the rapper “Lil B ‘the Based God’” over a decade ago. Hilariously enough, I was just telling my partner yesterday about how responses like yours will probably be more frequent the further and further we go from the peak of the trend, lol.

It's really interesting b/c I just discovered this band after many years of listening to the Cure, Joy Division, and a whole bunch of other post-punk. These guys seem to have been light years ahead of all these bands. I guess it was just too obscure back then for people to really understand how groundbreaking it was. Then it's really dark music so probably not the most accessible.

The band performing in the video is This Heat.
