This Heat were one of the best live bands ever, I could not believe it when I first saw them - they opened with this track and I thought the top of my head had been sliced off. Unbelievably powerful and wild, yet carefully controlled, without being vicious or aggressive like a metal band. Completely unique. I still have my vinyl Deceit, though H&E and This Heat have long gone missing. I can't find their stuff anywhere except for silly money. And they were great people too, friendly and accessible.. Charles Bullen invited me up to his flat for a smoke once, where he played me some of his heavy dub collection. Those were the days!

Ha, I can well imagine they were into dub -- I was just thinking of sampling some of this for a dub effect (adding delay)... anyway, their debut album (perhaps several of them but that's the one I got) was reissued a few years ago, in case you were not aware.

This is probably the most important contemporary music ever made. You can hear it in The Fall, Stereolab, John Adams, Philip Glass. These people demand worship

Man it feels like this piece of art is from the in a future like 90s or the 2000s rather than from 1977!

Nce video texz. I was born in 1977. Why my parent didn't played for me this song when I was one day old? I have to ask them, and "we didn't know this guys" won't work like an answer. So long!

These guys were so far ahead. Tex probably already know this, but Hayward was from Quiet Sun, which was Phil Manzanera's band before Roxy Music and which he resurrected right after Roxy split the first time, making the brilliant (and ironically named) "Mainstream" record. That one is something like this but toward the prog end more than the punk end. Tex, you made this video? It's really fantastic. Totally gets the aesthetic of the band I think.

Someone gave acid to the video editor. Cool though! This is Day 1 of me hearing of this band. Sounds a bit like Fred Frith, Henry Cow.
