The value is realized not only in the number of hitches it replaces, but flexing action reducing wear on the vehicles and reduced stress on the driver. I use mine with a weight distribution hitch for the travel trailer... SOOOOO much more manageable with the Gen-Y torsion flex!

I've been a proud Gen-Y hitch owner for the past 5 years. Mine is not a flex hitch but i must say it's a beast of a hitch. I've been very very pleased with the quality and versatility. That being said, after 5 years of North Dakota/Minnesota roads, it could use a fresh powder coating. It's flaking and rusty but i do live in a pretty harsh climate. I was thinking about upgrading to the flex but then my truck wouldn't fit in my garage unless i take it off and at 70-80 LBS, that sucker is not ever coming off.....

It would actually replace 8 ball type hitches with the two ball sizes and 4 heights. It would replace potentially an additional 3 hitches with the pintle adapter and 3 positions, for a total of 11 hitches it could replace.

I have had the 21k lbs. Torsion hitch since 2017. Started with my 2014 F350 and now on my 2021 Ram 3500. This is by far the best hitch I have towed with. I tow multiple type's of trailers including horse trailers and dump trailers. Exceptional ride and handling. Most of my trailer loads are heavy.

I thought you must be exaggerating how much the hitch weighs, so I looked it up on Gen-Y's website...and it is indeed 73lbs! I have the light duty version of this (Gen-Y Glyder Torsion Flex) for my travel trailer, and it is extremly sturdily built, and I do like the ride it provides.

In my opinion If you tow 7000 lbs you should be using a weight distribution hitch to transfer some of that weight to your steer axle. Especially when your tow vehicle is not heavy duty, like the Tundra. Not sure if a wd version of this is available.

I wish someone would do a review of this with wdh and a travel trailer. You’re right it makes a big difference in that scenario. We took an identical trip last year without the Gen y (4K miles) and this year was so much less stressful. I do think it made a mileage and comfort difference. If you tow a lot of miles and you can lift it and spare the payload it’s definitely worth it.

It's also not cheap... so it's important as part of these reviews to make the use case, not just "it works so everyone should buy one". I think this review did a good job there, TFL tends to love everything that's sponsored content. NBD, just caveat emptor.

@@adamgreen911 I actually think it definitely helped me. It added about 50lbs to my hitch weight, and it only extended my hitch about 4" from where it was. I was concerned about that but didn't notice a difference due to that. I think this can really help both a very stiff rear suspension and also a softer one, but yes you need the ability to add that weight and lift it! Also the more miles you go, the more this hitch makes sense.

Curt Rebellion 45982 does virtually same thing except for: No rise (whoever uses the rise option on a full size truck anyway? No pintle option. It is way lighter (73 lbs vs 48) and approx. half the price in Canada. Also 6 position adjustment vs Gen-y 4 positions. Curt Rockerball on a straight hitch (with Silent Hitch) might be a great comparison video for $100 or so. Three ball mounts at beginning of video? Who are you kidding? I've never seen you tow with anything other than a well used (rusty) B&W Sto & Go!

These hitches are very overhyped. I bought one and I sold it. The price is crazy at $600. The hitch is heavy which makes it annoying to swap out, it drags on everything because it is so low. Here are the 3 major flaws with this hitch. First is that it sticks so far out that every trailer I use needs to have the chains extended and in some cases I need to use my trailer light extender. Second is you are putting a big hitch into your truck receiver, then another hitch on to the Gen y. This makes it have so much slop. You can put a bolt in it to keep it from moving but then you have to get out tools every time you want to adjust trailer height. The third and biggest issue is the way the adjustments for the hitch height work. You only get 4 options and each option is 2"-2.25" taller/shorter than the previous. There is no in between. It is hard for me to get my trailer level with this hitch. I switched back to my $40 amazon hitch that has adjustments for every inch and it is way easier to dial in hitch height. Shore, it road a little smoother but not worth the cost and all of my previous issues. I am thinking about trying out a rhino hitch. Easy to adjust and it is aluminum so it will not rust and look terrible like my gen y did.

I think the Shocker HD looks better as far as the high dollar cushioned-hitch options go. I have an aluminum Weigh-Safe 180 with stainless turnovers and it's pretty slick with nice build quality but those tag trailers ride awful on bad pavement with a stiff spring ride axle. The heavier the tongue weight gets the worse it is.
