Yeah but don't make the same rookie mistake they made. They used Chinese chopsticks, and every good mechanic knows those are not compatible with Japanese engines. You should only use Japanese chopsticks on these Hondas or you risk blowing the whole damn thing up.

So glad you posted a new video! It's a great one, too! Hey - what compression tester do you use for these small engines? I've been getting a lot of mixed messages online and want to be able to trust my numbers.
@Scooter_9112 жыл бұрын
I use one I bought off the MAC tool truck. I've had it for years and it's served me well. I know Mac doesn't make it though, I think it's actually manufactured by OTC. I did, however, replace the lower hoses that thread in through the spark plug holes. They eventually gave out, but that's par for the course when you use a tool almost every day. The lower hoses are snap-on and they're much heavier duty than any other sets I've seen. If I had to recommend a kit though it would be the thread-in OTC kit. You can even use the adapters for a leak down tester.
@meatcreap2 жыл бұрын
@@Scooter_911 Thanks for the advice! I was leaning toward the OTC, but you've sealed the deal for me. Your new shop looks amazing. It's awesome to see you livin the dream! Awesome video. I have a 150cc Vespa and in the Vespa / Piaggio world one would simply use a 180cc Malossi kit to upgrade the cylinder head/piston instead of replacing with an OEM 150cc cylinder. Are similar cylinder upgrades not normally done on Honda scooter engines? I believe Malossi actually manufactures the OEM 150cc cylinder and piston for Piaggio.

Hey brother I got the same bike as that but red it's a beautiful garage kept has not been started in about 8-10 years he thought it only needed a carb clean that's why he parked it for all those years plus family to take care of. So I did all that and It still not starting I can feel the compression it's got spark and its getting gas . It's only has 2,282 miles on it I was checking out online they say you have to adjust the valve's every 2,000 miles is that true?
@Scooter_9116 ай бұрын
Yes absolutely. The valve adjustment is pretty straightforward on those bikes and once you own feeler gauges it's technically free for life. I would also encourage you to measure the compression. 100psi is a lot different than 160psi but you can feel them both

what oil are you using for break in period? i did read on internet to use mineral oil, is that correct?
@Scooter_9112 жыл бұрын
Since we're only breaking in the piston and cylinder the break-in oil isn't as particular as if it was a fresh cam or fresh crank bearings. We're breaking this one in with Genuine 10w40 full synthetic. Its what we use on almost every scoot in the shop. Fabulous stuff. But to your point if this engine had a new cam and shim under bucket valve train or hydraulic lifters I would be using a mineral oil with an engine break-in additive.

this one had nearly 12,000 miles. That seems to be about the limit on the CH80 top end. The elite 150 and 250 went waaaaaay farther before needed much engine work. But you also have to consider the hours that would be to go 12,000 miles if your top speed is around 40. Also consider if 40mph is top speed you're spending a lot of time at wide open throttle. just some food for thought.
