imma be real, I don’t think Abeloth would’ve been a good villain. The theological aspect of Star Wars is my favorite aspect but she is far too vague for the general audience, if that makes sense. Episodes 1-6 are about the battle of Light and Dark, so 7-9 being about Order vs Chaos (where the First Order/Empire’s authoritarianism would be directly opposed to Abeloth and, by consequence, good guys inspite of their absolute evil) wouldn’t work ad well narratively. Granted, the current sequel trilogy doesnt work that great narratively, but the sudden twist would be a little meh

@@Theology.101Same. Would have preferred if they brought in Vitiate into canon, exploiting the conflict between law vs. chaos we’ve seen going on from Episode 1 to the sequels to destroy all life in the galaxy. This would force both sides to unite against a common enemy and, in the end, would see them comee together in a compromise between the strong government of the Core Worlds and the weak government of the Outer Rim.

Abeloth is so terrifying, but compelling. Her darkness is so different from what we usually see in the sith. We are used to seeing are all driven to control and conquer. Vader, Sidious, even Plagueis were all using anger and aggression (covertly or not) to actively fight their way up. Abeloth's darkness comes from longing, this twisted unquenchable desparation. Something so bone chilling about her.

Abeloth's fall is very similar to Anakin's fall. In that both took actions to help those they loved and in doing so turned those the love against them. Abeloth might be the only SW character that could seduce Anakin as Vader and turn him against Palpatine and the Empire.

It was not out of jealous or desire for power that led her to drink the Font of Power and swim in the Pool of Knowledge but her fear of loosing her precious family since she was the only mortal of the family while the Ones were immortal. Her action however transformed her into a immortal but eldritch horror which corrupted her spirit into evil. She tried to subdue both the Son and Daughter but the Father protected them and left the Planet with both children, leaving Abeloth stranded. With this her most deepest fear came true - losing her precious family which drove her completely insane.

Now, to the video. I think Abeloth could work. You're working on the assumption that whatever mechanism Abeloth is using to draw Baylan in reveals Abeloth's nature, or indeed true nature. It could be that Abeloth is promising to bring an end to the Jedi/Sith conflict, which semantically she(it?) could do by wiping them out, but just doesn't mention that doing so is merely a reset of the overall cycle. Or Abeloth is outright lying to Baylan. Or perhaps Baylan is simply interpreting the call he is feeling through the force with his own bias of exhaustion and sorrow at all the war and death. I am also enjoying this idea with the hints to the Zeffo we've been seeing. I can't quite remember the nature of their exodus from galaxy prime but perhaps Abeloth had something to do with it. Would be a great way to establish her(it?) as a galaxy wide threat via established lore. This could also tie into the end point of the Ahsoka show (is there going to be more than one) being that neither the good nor the bad guys leave Peridia. Say what you want about Thrawn but he would absolutely deal with the threat of Abeloth before returning to prime.

I didn’t know that Abeloth’s coming was a sort of cyclical thing triggered by events in the galaxy. That’s pretty cool. This is probably just me hoping but an introduction like this could be a great way to finally introduce a hard break in canon from the sequel trilogy. People have been clamoring for a soft reboot for awhile and they've been content so far to just fill the 30 year gap between when the sequel movies start and the end of Episode 6, while only softly alluding to stuff from the sequels. Throwing Thrawn back into the mix along with Aboleth would be the perfect way to both muddle the waters and present a cool, fresh storyline that could invalidate the lead up to the sequel movies.

We still don't know what presence Palpatine sensed in that flashback in Empire's End. I'm betting something like Abeloth, but not Abeloth. Though, there is this. Skӧll and Hati are the sons of the wolf Fenrir, and an unnamed giantess. In the Old Norse religion, it is foretold the wolves will chase the sun and moon across the skies until Ragnarök, at which point the wolves catch up and devour the celestial beings. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sköll Angrboða (Old Norse: [ˈɑŋɡz̠ˌboðɑ]; also Angrboda) is a jötunn in Norse mythology. She is the mate of Loki and the mother of monsters.[1] She is only mentioned once in the Poetic Edda (Völuspá hin skamma) as the mother of Fenrir by Loki. The Prose Edda (Gylfaginning) describes her as "a giantess in Jötunheimar" and as the mother of three monsters: the wolf Fenrir, the Midgard serpent Jörmungandr, and the ruler of the dead Hel.[1] The Old Norse name Angrboða has been translated as 'the one who brings grief',[2] 'she-who-offers-sorrow',[1] or 'harm-bidder'.[3] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angrboða Might be looking too much into it.

*Shin's* *Behavorial* *Patterns* Shin stabbed Sabine in the abdomen. She Force choked Sabine until Baylan told her to stop. She said "destroy them" to the Nighttroopers without any hesitation. She did not stutter until Ahsoka intervened. And people want to ship Shin with Sabine? 😂 Sabine must have a twisted view on love if she wants to be with someone who keeps trying to kill her!! Is Sabine a masochist? What were Baylan's parting words for Shin again? It's actually a quote from Louis XIV of France. "Impatience for victory will guarantee defeat." Remember, Anakin was impatient too. Led him to the dark side when Obi-Wan kept telling him to be patient. Baylan might be sensing that in Shin. If let's say Baylan is grey, Shin is a little more closer to the dark side. I just can't see Shin suddenly joining Ahsoka one episode later just because her master abandoned her when she was a split second of getting Ezra and Sabine killed. We don't know much of Shin. For her to be redeemed later, wouldn't she need to be with the dark side first?? Now if she can't get accepted by Thrawn, she might end up wandering around Peridea looking for Baylan. But to see her join Ahsoka? I'm not sure about that based on her behavioral patterns. Shin has eyes of a killer. Baylan truly is a great character without many personality flaws to him. I'm not saying he's a Gary Stu. He's strong and powerful who can handle fighting Ahsoka. He's intelligent and wise. He's shown patience and compassion which Shin hasn't yet. It's not all about Baylan's mystery tour. He's an interesting character on his own. Very Dooku-like from Tales of the Jedi before joining Sidious. Now perhaps Baylan's flaw is finding this entity that leads to his death? He's getting duped. Maybe he's gone mad? And I did question why he would tell Shin to kill Ezra and Sabine when he could've had Sabine killed a few episodes prior. What was the whole point bringing Sabine there? It was a sudden turn. Or he could be so brainwashed by Abeloth, who knows? The fate of Shin is the second biggest mystery behind Baylan's quest. She's the wildcard. Where will she go? Thrawn, find Baylan, or join Ahsoka? Baylan is still the most intriguing part of the entire story. The one who is calling him could end up being a crazy reveal. I just hope it's not as lame as Bran Stark being named the King. I'm hearing in Episode 8, Morgan will fight Ahsoka again. That's cool. Morgan will be equipped with two daggers from the Great Mothers. I'm thinking daggers that look as badass as Catspaw in GOT. There is going to be a confrontation between Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine against the witches or perhaps with just Ashoka? I predict nobody dies though. It's a fight where nobody is fatally wounded just like what we saw in Ep 7. Just some action scenes to fill up time. I really do believe Thrawn is leaving and the heroes will not stop them. Then I figure the other parts is showing where Baylan is headed. As Josh from The Den of Nerds said, I would be completely fine if all of Ep 8 was focused on Baylan. I really do not care what happens to Thrawn or Ahsoka in Ep 8. It's fairly predictable by this point. I figure Thrawn is gone. Peace out, y'all! Ahsoka tries to fight the witches but ends up getting stuck there. Then the Baylan stuff is what we'll hopefully see at the end which leaves a major cliffhanger.... Then two damn years waiting for Ahsoka Season 2 to get answers just like fans like me waiting two damn years for House of the Dragon Season 2. And perhaps as long as three damn years starting from 2022 for Stranger Things S5, Cobra Kai S6, Andor S2, and The Boys S4. The Long Night... This sucks! I'll get more impatient than Anakin and Shin!

If they're bringing Abeloth in, they'll have to nerf her big time as she'd kill Ahsoka with a blink of an eye lol. In fact she'd kill the whole Ahsoka cast in about 5 seconds... so if she is brought in, it'll be a Diet Coke version of her unfortunately

If this is true (massive if), they're gonna have Baylan tell a story from the temple about it to catch the non-clone wars/rebels viewers up with the celestials, but this seems a bridge too far for live action star wars IMO

I feel like if Abeloth is the next villain, he (or I guess she) needed a bigger lead up than just simply Baylon mentioning a “dark force.” Sure it’s unlikely she’ll show up in the season finale, but I would have at least liked some kind of hint at her earlier rather than just an indirect mention.

Concerning Baylan, what if it’s not a race calling to him but the THO YOR? Now i haven't read the Dawn of the Jedi comics myself, just an avid Wookiepedia surfer, but the idea of the Tho Yor has always interested me. Large mysterious floating pyramids find force users and are then studied and used to transport across the galaxy, starting both the Jedi and intergalatic relations (also invasions i guess... looking at you Rakatans). As we have progressed through the Ahsoka show, the little drips and hints of what may truly be in this new galaxy and on Perida have us all thinking about potential races and plot points. The Grysk, Yuuzhan Vong, Rakatans and now even The Abaloth is being thrown about as a possibility. All of which I think would be fun and interesting additions to our 'offical' canon. That said, my mind keeps coming back to the Tho Yor. Yes the Grysk would make sense, given we have Thrawn, and the other races all could work and play a role in telling the coming story. But Baylan talks of the endless cycle of wars, the beginning of it all, training Shin in a different way, hearing the calls of something great and powerfull... and all i can think of are those damn cool looking floating mystery pyramids. What it means, where it leads I have no idea but I guess time will tell. What do people think?

In meta, Abeloth predates the Ones. The Fate of the Jedi book series where Abeloth debuted showed the character before The Ones appeared in the Clone War series. The lore of the book series was changed to tie the Mortis Gods to Abeloth.

Honestly i think that just like how the yuuzhan vong were substituted with the grisk, something like abeloth would be better off replaced by a different entity serving a loosely similar role, like an evil bendu-like creature Thrawn was only really re-canonized because he was that critically acclaimed. There is no other Legends figure on his level of popularity aside from maybe Darth Revan.

They recanonize weird unpopular stuff all the time, just not in TV shows. In fact they sometimes seem allergic to canonizing popular stuff, Mara Jade is also acclaimed yet she's nowhere to be found. People love Jaina and Jacen yet they got replaced by boring incest versions of themselves 😂 I can think of a lot of popular EU figures that canon ignores yet canonizes Jaxxon instead.

I think the power that Baylan seeks is Abeloth in the sense that he plans to absorb it either into Shin or himself, so that he can sacrifice that person to destroy Abeloth and end the cycle that she creates. Because what if like in Legends Abeloth is immortal and can’t be killed by anything but the Mortis Dagger. So, Baylan’s solution to this is to trap her within a mortal body so that when said mortal dies she dies with them. Which would effectively make her mortal again.

I thought The Mother became Abeloth because when she was growing old, she was scared of dying and losing her family, so she became desperate to find a quick way to become immortal, which went horribly wrong. I've never read the books though, so I'm most likely wrong.

If Abeloth is meant to be the counterpart to The Father from Mortis, and Anakin was meant to take the place of The Father, I feel like it's possible that Anakin's appearance in the Ahsoka show could also be foreshadowing a confrontation with Abeloth or some equivalent entity, and in doing so, showing Anakin's greater role in the force.

I think there's something to consider: even if I'm not expecting any Abeloth to appear in the finale, I WILL say that I still think Baylan could have justifiable reasons to seek her out. You describe their goals as being opposite... but what if that's exactly it? Baylan believes Abeloth feeding on chaos and conflict is encouraging it through the Force, and he's deliberately seeking her out to DESTROY her? Obviously even if he has a plan he'd be way in over his head, but yeah. As mentioned though, I'm not expecting her to show up, just explaining how I think it COULD work. also damn nice spooky intro and outro

Abeloth should have a story dedicated to her. Not be some background character in the THRAWN movie / storyline. It’s not her. It’s something that will make him go crazy like joruus. Or actually is joruus. Or Ezra alrdy is and we just haven’t seen his crazy side. Except for his eyes.

I think if Abeloth does show up, it'll be in some heavily adapted form, maybe even using a different name. Perhaps her role as The Mother will be referenced, and she'll be then connected to the Nightsisters of Peridea as their first Great Mother (or some other superlative Mother, greater than Great). I also think that if she's what's luring Baylan, they'll borrow that aspect of her story from Legends, where her whispers are deceits, false promises of power and knowledge. That way, the fact that Baylan is essentially looking for a great Agent of Order doesn't conflict with the fact that he's about to unleash the great Agent of Chaos.

Yeah, I doubt that we'll see Abeloth. I'm starting to lean more towards the idea that Baylan will either find a way to access the WBW like how Palpatine did in Rebels (maybe not the same way, but something similar), or he somehow finds a way to get to Mortis and replace the Father. Either way, I think the most suitable way for him to change the cycle of violence in the galaxy is to alter the will of the Force directly. Have people on both the light and dark side lose their connection to the Force, and have him influence events to happen that completely change people's lives (such as making a crime boss see the error of their ways).

Spoilers idk if qualifies but just incase Either the well of power or knowledge is here (since its not 100 percent to legends lore), or some artifacts and baylon is after it or hes gonna release abeloth if shes here. Either ashoka and sabine stop him from getting the power or releasing her then they get rescued by ezra and hera then fight thrawn. Or shes released escapes, and then thrawn, ashoka, mandalorians, luke, ghost n co, new republic unite to defeat her avengers style and thrawn leaves back to the unknown regions content. Some proof it might be abeloth or the well or artifacts is baylon mentions unimaginable power, the planet is of death and madness, and yes the mortis gods on the mountain. Either way excited where its going. Dave did say he wanted to unite the shows. Just some theories

As for Abeloth, I love her story and concept, but the execution is worse. Her, probably the best moment in my opinion is in the first book, on Kessel. When Allana Solo sees some strange grave of the dark side, walks away from it, hides behind a hill, and then hears a voice from the Abyss calling to her. I had goosebumps then. Fate of Jedi (and Lost Sith Tribe) were my first Star Wars books. And I remember them very well, especially Bwan'tu, the Bothan lawyer Tahiri, how everyone hated Daala, Vestara Khai. I read the last book, Apocalypse, in a day, and it was the only time it happened to me

They showed the Father and Son's statue on a mountain , pointing into a direction, i think it is very possible that they are hinting Abeloth , and since in legends she can influence force users even when she is trapped i don't see why she could not be calling Skoll , but to defeat her they need Luke and everybody else which i doubt would happen cause literally no mention about her in the sequels which is not that much later happening

honestly it's not the first time they've messed with legends stuff. I mean clearly the story we're getting is not the Original Thrawn novels. one thing that stood out to me is I thought that Dathomirian witches technically used sith alchemy and not some powers from a different galaxy. I can see it possible that they change the canon in this case to say that abeloth is sealed in the other galaxy. I think an important thing is we don't know exactly what Baylan is planning. it could be he's going to try to kill and/or take Abeloth's power in order to end that cycle of war with the whole dark/vs light sith vs jedi. he also says he had a feeling and doesn't know explicitly what sort of power awaits. so there might be details he is missing, or he just isn't telling people everything he knows.

being very familiar with LOTF and FOTJ in particular, i agree with the assessment on her being a reset. if they do include her, they may ditch a few of her features to fit the story but it makes sense with how prominent the Ones have been as a possibility. perhaps Anakin's choice freed her, rather than Jacen's. abeloth as in Legends? doubtful but a bringer of Chaos? sure.
