i think it's altitude based, the higher you go, the thinner the atmosphere. This means every lift engine vehicle has a theoretical max altitude

Had to look this up about raid numbers: - Apparently, scrapman was right, you cannot get past raid level 6 without atleast 5 high value crops. - Farmbots will not spawn in anything under a level 9 raid. Level 9 raids require Crop Value of 150 and atleast 20 high value crops planted. . . needless to say, I don't think you have to worry about spawning any of them. THE BIGGER RISK: - Tape bots spawn at level 7 raids. Level 7 raids ONLY need 5 high value crops and a crop value of 80. THANKFULLY THO: - Broccoli and Pineapple are the ONLY crops listed as "high value" in the wiki. - Meaning if you're only planting carrots, red beets, tomatos, potatos, yes EVEN cotton, bananas, blueberries or oranges, you will NEVER encounter a tapebot NOR farmbot. TL;DR scraps: You're safe until you do Broccoli or Pineapple.

@scrapman, you could use gas engine + propellers instead of a thruster, this will also allow you to reverse using W/S Also, the Chemlift loses power with height so it's not as OP as regular propellers and thrusters. Also, you always can save + disassemble your blimp and then jump off of an island to fast-travel home. Like the comment for Scrapman to notice

It should be possibile ti use the propeller and a controller to have the movement, at max 2 controller and 2 bearing so One fro W converte and the other for S.

@@kevin29121993 a controller on loop can reverse with normal seat input, also since he has "fants logic parts" mod you can also use a simple controller (practically a logic controlled seat) to reverse an engine/controller with 2 button inputs

the Up Lift force of the CLE´s is based on the weight of your creation and the allready reached Height. so if you want to go higher you need more lift engines ;) also you said something about recycling. I have in "Fants Pipes Container Pumps Recycler" a recycler that allows you to recycle the stuff.

I too used to think you couldnt kill a farmbot without a spud gun till I saw someone speedrun killing one in under 3 minutes, 3 blocks verticle out of the ground, bearing on the side of the highest block, block on that bearing. Hit spinnable block with hammer and let farmbot run into it and it will die, blocks I saw used were scrap wood x3, mesh block x1, bearing x1.

I think you should move sawblades a little bit deeper into the fence as it stands right now, once a bot gets in between the sawblades, it is equal distance between two of them so it has no way to run and thus starts attacking

17:50 you already have all you need for a working vehicle. Have your 2 right propellers on front and back, on bearing at 45 so it’s centered. Since it’s 2 rights on front and back, there will be no torque if you have them set up properly. Hook engine up to them, and you have flying vehicle easy

I had SO MUCH FUN accidentally making a monowheel-bot with that balloon in regular survival. It started as a storage trailer to my car and by the time I was done it was my little mule buddy/porta-base. Awesome mod!

when i was first obsessed with vanilla survival i found where 4 tiles met, which was right next to the mechanic station luckily, and made a farm that crossed into all 4 tiles. theres a lot of resources when you get 4 raids in a single night, and i found it way easier to harvest metal through scrap and circuit boards from totebots. even if you dont need the actual harvest, the byproduct of the raids always makes it worth it.

32:46 I love how this mod seems to be accounting for air pressure and bouyancy! Gasses behave similarly to liquids, like how oil likes to float on top of water, lighter gasses like to float to the point where the density of air is equal to the bouyancy of the gas that makes you lift up. My guess is you'd need more balloons to increase how much boyancy there is, or find more efficient gasses

That lift engine probably works like a hot air ballon. IRL, the hot air ballon stops rising when the density of the air around it, is similiar to the density of the air in it (which happens on higher altitudes). Creator of the map has likely set a height limit for the engine so that its harder to get to the upper isalnds without spending more resources.

Put a seat sensor that turns off the lift (likely using a nor gate or something). I think you should have used the propeller for thrust as it likely uses far less fuel and the thrust might not be bad. Set a beacon at your base. I do not think you will need a second chemical tank as you can typically connect one container to multiple things. You need to put a chest (and maybe a bed) on it after you put the second lift engine on. In normal Scrap Mechanic I always put a beacon on my RV (I like the Nomad builds). Have you heard anything about the final release update for the base game? It has been over a year with no update since Blog 25 where they announced it. All they said then was they were hoping to have it done before the end of the year.

Hey Scrapman, great episode, how about putting the decent button on the bottom of the vehicle, that way if you fall off from a height you cant grab on the lift you can shoot the button and make it come down. Keep up the great content 😁👍 Also as others have said, the mod probably has the atmosphere getcthinner as you go higher meaning it requires more lift at altitude.

I still highly recommend just making gyros, putting propellers on those, putting this combo on a bearing together, and powering the gyros. This is free energy, can easily be balanced on an even grid, etc. This comments is important. Please see me.

hey i was just thinking, you could use some bearings and an engine(since you have a spare one and gas is abundant) to spin the saw blades you have defending the farm, could be really useful for raids. also read some more comments there's other good tips👍

Another of 00Fant’s mods, 00Fant’s advanced tools, has 00Fant’s measurement tool. If you right click on a creation with it, it shows you the center of mass.

Once you get to it, make 2 left propellers so your 2nd right propellor doesn't go to waste, then have a right and left one facing forward on the nose and a then have a mirrored version of that on the back, so right and left one facing backwards on the tail but pushing in same direction (so rotating opposite direction), seat in the middle, chemical balloon thing above seat, bam, quick flyer that doesn't use nearly as much fuel as a thruster one. 👍

I think it might be possible to use a gyro with a propeller to get free propulsion? when he did that spin in the balloon flyer he spun pretty fast so i think if you hook a propeller on a gyro on a bearing it might work without needing fuel. Edit: I have confirmed this works. However you seem to need a block or two on the bearing then the gyro then the prop. I have have inconsistent results. Sometimes the gyro just doesnt spin at all and other times it works perfectly

You should look at putting crops on a tiny island, if you cover the entire island in crops, what would the raid spawn on?

Hey, Scrapman, since you've already gotten all of the outfit from garment boxes and I assume there are no warehouses in sky island, you can use the garment boxes and warehouse keys as protection for your farm since they have a relatively high durability. I believe they have a 7 - 9 durability. This should help you defend your farm better.

Use toilet to avoid fall damage, build over the target you want to shoot instead of shooting from the side of island, put your props on your flying vehicle for more vertical ascension, add a bearing to turn them 90 degrees and you have vertical and horizontal movement for free using a gyro for the power. To use a gyro for power go bearing, gryo, the prop you only need one button to move it but a second will give you reverse or descend.

I think you should build a space elevator for getting up to those high places, and a vertical spire would make figuring out where home base is relatively easy.

For failing with haybots, what about testing a building a wooden box around you with a 1x1 hole in the bottom to allow you to delete the lift and then let gravity pull the box over the curve of the ledge?

The reason that you couldn't fly higher at those high altutitude is maybe because the air is thinner up there. And gas would float until the very top of the atmosphere. this may explain why

thrusters are cool and all but maybe consider a propeller on left and right instead of "centered" or in addition to the thruster if nothing else to increase thrust? a second lift is the way to go.

You can use wasd converters to hook it up better. Connect A nad D to turn ur gyro, thruster to the seat to move forward, righ and left MB to change the power in the lift engine.

Idea for a better Farm: 10X10 farm with the middle plot taken out, make a spinner with the 4 saw blades that go around the outside of the farm, get a controller to make the spinner and sawblades spin, *NEEDS LOTS OF UPGRADING!!

Theres a recycler in fants mod, i dont thing you have it enabled, but it recycles your stuff with a 100% return rate. Theres also a large container, but also in some part of fants mod that you dont have, and it cost 1 keycard and 200 metal. It has LOTS of space, I'd say like atleast 10 chests

1. You mean *autocrafter* 2. It is only a part of the vanilla fant, not the skyblock. Fant had to port all the items from scratch AFAIK

I believe the Lifting force gets weaker the higher you are, because lifting engines do have a height limit depending on your lifting force and the load you're carrying, so likely it's snapping to a height that it can hover at from maximum lift. Also altitiyde might play a role as the atmosphere gets lighter as you go up

Both propellers ( left and right ) being attached at the back to go foward and reverse, a gyroscope to turn left and right and the Ballon to go up and down. That would be my approach on a vehicle without using fuel.

You need more saw blades to fill in the gaps and build a rail (could be made of scrap wood) to keep you from being knocked into the crops.

You should build some logic to automatically lower the flying machine after a certain amount of time of you not being in it. Maybe with a sensor? That way if you fall off it and can't get back up, it will slowly lower down after a few minutes so you can retrieve it without needing to build up.

From my understanding, the balloon provides lift and no thrust, the props generate thrust that he’s using for lift…just put a prop on either side to balance the thrust and rotate the direction they pull you

4:00 @Scrapman, he has a recycler as part of his mod. I’m not sure if it’s in the default sky world or if it’s one of his mod add-ons. Warning tho, the recycler is incredibly overpowered and gives more material back than what you ask for.

I think it is based on your altitude and because of that the density of the air around it is less causing it to not work nearly as well. Also it goes up faster when you spin because it starts to work like a helicopter

You can use wasd converters instead of buttons to rotate the gyroscope, you'll only need to paint one converter to a different color. Also i think the reason why you can't go higher at one point with chemical lift is because of (faked) air pressure

You should put farm on tiny island, then put the prongs all the way to the edge and see if the raids will just fall off when they spawn. Id do like one carrot to make sure they don’t spawn in the farm area

Scrapman, tip with the sawblade and drills for farm defense. Put them on bearings and power them. That way they do damage when the bots are trying to attck.

Do the chemical lift engines try to replicate real life, where any given "power level" corresponding to some amount of inflation will have an altitude where they are neutrally buoyant so they will have a maximum height?

now that you have a balloon. have it spawned near the edge when a farm bot spawns for a raid. hop in it and hover just over the edge of the island and they will run off the edge.

Buoyancy force = (fluid or gas density) * acceleration * (fluid or gas volume) What you experienced with your elevation issues would be encountered in real life with balloons due to a decrease of atmosphere density.

You should do a tubing challenge where there’s four people somebody sits in the back on a tube with a gun connected with power couplers and someone is driving a boat and the other two are in a plane with a max of 200 blocks. I would like to see this plz.
