I earn pretty good and while looking for girl i had very clear thoughts i want a housewife who would love to stay in a joint family. I brought this upfront though all girls well educated declined as expected, but still its better rather than making someone bend to your will find someone who is already comfortable. I found a girl semi urban background who also lives in a joint family educated but willingly wants to be housewife. Takes time but one can find such person where people dont have to sacrifice and you have same beliefs.

I m a house wife and my husband is a software engineer. I used to feel same like this earlier. But not anymore. My husband loves me a lot and respects me. He always says managing house is the great work than all professions. He introduces me to his friends proudly. Takes me to other nice places on weekends so that I don't feel leftout and alone. He buys me whatever I wish for. But I know my limits too. I won't force him to buy very expensive things which we cannot afford. Marriage works only when both partners understand and respect each other's feelings.

My wife has been doing all that you listed above for the last 40+ yrs. She is always there, for not only for us, but also the extended family. AND she never has had the time to earn money the way we do. But the house and the whole family cannot function without her. Her human dealing skills are so high that she is put up in front where we are not sure of our selves. As regards earning money, we once counted the money she saves in managing the house not to speak of the happiness she spreads. Nothing better than a cultured hindu housewife who knows all the traditional knowledge ( medicines, totkas, etc) even though we laugh at her but grudgingly admire her when she proves to be right most of the time.

If the wife was earning how much would they have to pay the maid, the nanny or daycare, the cleaner, the cook, the dobi if they have no washing machine. Wether there is competition or not ALL of these things are jobs that people get paid for outside but housewives do for FREE. Also what does competition have to do with having a job? As long as an woman is financially dependent on her husband, parents,son,daughter or anyone else she will not perhaps get real respect from them and even from her own self may feel less self confidence. They may outwardly say without her the home bound duties will suffer ,she is the real hard worker etc and praise her but somewhere in a corner of their minds they may perhaps have that feel that she has no income on her own and dependent on them.Though she does lot of household chores yet without money even that maintenance is impossible. Leave alone husband or society not treating her with respect or valuing her home bound duties with appreciation. In today's times many women are well educated. Doing household chores alone is not enough to get real self respect and self confidence from her own self . Women should always stand on their own legs earn legally atleast some money ,atleast some legally approved part time job and also learn to manage their income. Husbands and/or other family members should support the working women by sharing household chores and other house duties. This is my personal view.

That they do so much work at home take care of elders etc etc etc Today there are thousands of working women who efficiently manage their profession and do all that.And their husbands share household responsibilities. The feeling of working and earning ourselves ,putting to use our education ,that feeling of contributing financially to the family, that satisfaction of being a part of service towards outside people to the country and being a part of social fabric is a special feeling. Only those who have experienced it would realise ,understand and value it. Note : Some home maker women seem to have a feeling that working married women neglect their household duties children elders at home etc. That's not true .They seem to be really good at that as well. And Not all home makers are doing their household duties properly. There are some home maker women gossipping around ,watching television serials and neglecting household duties,elders ,fighting with them etc Also when children are grown up they would value the working mothers more .,because they seem to feel proud that their mothers are working women. No offence meant to anyone who is not a working woman plus home maker .

(May be another year or so for some.) But those who had earlier worked mundane without that special feeling might not feel like returning to work. Some women even if they want to return to work ,may not have a conducive environment at home ,not supportive husband's or good cretch facilities nearby etc to take care of kids. .In such cases they may become full time home makers. Let us not forget that even then , they seem to have some options to be self employed at home or do part time jobs from homes. Some women in their own ways may try to justify and give reasons for becoming full time home makers. These are generally those who themsel ves dont want to do any job at all. Therefore due to such various things the percentage of women returning to work seems difficult to predict as it seems to vary as per the places like in tier 1,tier 2, tier 3 cities,towns,sub urban, rural areas,villages etc. We have to have enough real statistics about that Note:By saying justifying i dont mean to hurt anyone who chose to be home makers.Its their lives their choices .I am aware that I have no right to comment as to whether being home maker is right or wrong. I have seen nowadays men want working woman+ housewife. If wife is working then they dont like the fact that their wife cant cook, do other household chores and take care of kids. If wife does not earn then they find it difficult to run house with single income because of very high cost of living. Most men will not take their non working wife seriously and will disrespect them. So they expect their wife to earn, cook, do other household chores, produce kids and take care of them because mothers are primary care givers. In other words they want ladoos in both hands. Still I have seen women spend more time in household chores, cooking and childcare even if both husband and wife are working and home and kids belong to both.

Yes of course.... To be honest working wife/daughter in law is a one woman solution. Indian in laws and husband need a girl who is well educated, earning a handsome salary, gives her salary to her husband and in law not to her parents who made her capable of earning, should cook for these lazy creatures, only girls' parents have to bear the expenses of wedding ceremony, should take care of kids, should attend guests, should take care of in laws and husband even if they are not supportive, respect in laws and husband even if they treat you next to slaves and blindly obey her in laws' and husband's commands. This whole concept of being a house wife whose only job is to cook, clean, laundry, baby sitting, this is wrong. These are called chores not work, chores are meant to be done by everyone, every single member in the home(except old people and kids) can take turns and cook food for the family daily, every individual must do his/her own laundry and clean the utensils used by themselves, and of the couple have kids, both mom and dad can take turns to look after baby, if we do this then there will be no need for women to be "house wife" and our workforce will increase and also family income will grow

If a homemaker was eliminated..just think about the expenses a man would have to incur..say in a city like Bangalore where I live Maid 2500 Nanny for 2 kids 18000 Cook for 2 times 6000 Tuitions 6000 Care taker for parents 12000 to 15000 If u keep a 24 hr maid say about 25000 but cook and tuitions again will have to kept separate. Now dear men, the total is about 40000 to 50000 . Plus something a wife does exclusively for a husband.just out of love..which is chargeable outside...thus moral of the story A homemaker also earns money if we look it at this way....every penny saved is every penny earned..

I hate when men push their wife or even gf not to work.. Then when wife spends money, he complains.. First off, if husband is having any issues financially or any other. He should be able to share it with his partner. So she’s able to understand that it’s not her. Secondly, not even only online. As far as in America, if you have car and license (with your car insurance) you can even sign up for Uber or doordash.. all these apps which we use to order take away. They also make pretty good money. I started by driving Uber myself, then when I had the money I got my trucking license and now I’m earning more then enough to take care of my family, my monthly expenses, and myself...

It doesn't mean every women have to earn to support her husband or herself. She has given Up her whole ambitions to raise a family. If both men and working women respect that, it's enough. Also in-laws see working and non working daughter in laws differently..It's one's wish to do what she feels needs the most. Ohk a good concept on how to come out of a smaller issues on families/marriages by simply supporting her husband financially. But I am worried about those womens who face problem more than just disrespect, like physical/mental abuses, violence etc. Treat her like another person who deserve respect even if she is housewife. Even a housewife faces lot's of problems on home like household maintenance, handling childrens/In-laws etc. What if she talk with her husband exactly the same like shown in video above on issues she is facing in home.
