I've had the same error messages and issues you show. My printer stopped printing the day I cancelled the HP+ ink subscription, which seems a bit suspicious. I haven't even tried to install any new cartridges. It tells me it is on my WiFi and the signal is strong, and at the same time tells me "The printer is not connected to the internet". Everything about the HPSmart program is messed up. It tells me it can't print the information page while it's printing the information page. !! It tells me to go to the home page and sign in to the home page from a page that I can only get to by having already signed in. I cannot get it to print, period. Haven't been able to since December. I feel totally scammed. I will never buy an HP printer again. Ever. Thanks for your candid review - I wish I had seen it before I wasted the money!!

I have the same issue and I contacted support and was told I needed to renew my warranty. Also, my instant ink was suspended.. My first HP was an Office ink jet which lasted for 10yrs, this HP Envy 6455e is only 2yrs old. I will not never purchase another HP.

Signing in is a nightmare. A bonus though- it printed the info page. I’ve got the same deal with the wi-fi. Good luck going down the rabbit hole.

Exactly the same experience with all the comments here. I feel forced to say: NEVER AGAIN shall I purchase another HP product. Ever.

Get this. I have this same printer, and like most modern people, I didn't need to print anything for about 4 months or so. Guess what happened during that time? The inks dried out, and despite my best efforts to waste 10 pages doing "deep clean" - I had to replace them! B

yeah, that happens with all ink printers. You need to do at least 2-3 pages weekly

Thank you very much for the detailed information. I had trouble re-connecting the printer to a new router, and this solved the problem in a few minutes. I spent several hours trying different you tube suggestion with no results, until I got yours!!!

A forced wireless connection and subscription service, for a printer? Yeah, I think I’d rather use Windows XP and an “ancient” printer instead. I do have some printers but don’t really use them, some have problems but I also have some that I’m sure will work fine with new ink. I prefer the older ones anyways, so I’d rather get new ink for an older printer than get a newer one. The wireless connection just seems like something for advertising, if I’m printing a document, it’s easiest to do it on a PC with a reliable USB connection. Sorry to hear you’ve been having problems with it despite it being new, it might honestly be a better investment to get an old office grade printer from the 98/XP era. Still a great video regardless!

That's something I may consider doing, given how unreliable printing currently is. Even if its a B/W only printer, I could use that as my daily-driver and reserve the HP for color prints, copies and scans only. I also wish there were a hard-wired ethernet port that could be used in lieu of WiFI, but I guess that's too much to ask of a consumer-grade printer!
@TheOriginalCollectorA1303
@TheOriginalCollectorA1303 Жыл бұрын
Consumer grade printers used to be quite nice, at least depending on the models. Definitely worth having an older one for everyday printing, you could even find one that only needs toner instead of ink for B/W. The HP is alright as a backup, but if you find an older color capable model, I’m sure you’d get more use out if it also. Plus I’m sure it’ll have USB, Ethernet, and if it’s slightly newer, optional WiFi, however I’d always prefer a hardwired connection. If you go far back enough, you might even find some old Apple printers, I’ve seen some still working! Might need some extra setup, but a printer is a printer.

Friends don’t let friends buy HP anymore. Unless you are getting a business class, they are all junk. Get a Brother with the 1 year or 2 years of ink.

I bought the same printer. What a horror show. Wont print unless it feels like printing, paper jams, exploding ink cartridge, keeps losing wi-fi, should I keep going? because it’s depressing. Thanks for the vid.

I will never buy another inkjet. I currently have a Dell LED (basically laser, but it isn't, lol) printer and it's absolutely amazing. It was purchased brand new for $100 from Dell 5+ years ago and even then it was a few years old. It has since been discontinued, unfortunately. For $30 on Amazon I can get all 4 toner carts and they will easily last me a couple of years, at the least. It's only used a few times a week between myself and the kids. I could never go back to inkjet and all the BS that comes with it. The only downside with the printer is that I can't get it to print wirelessly anymore with MacOs. It's just too old. I'd like to upgrade to a new Laserjet but can't bring myself to do it because the Dell works perfectly other than what I just mentioned.

At the time, I was contemplating getting a Laserjet, but I needed a printer right away and settled on this one. In hindsight, I'd probably be a lot better off having bought something like your Dell printer of eBay if for nothing more than the longevity of the ink. I've considered trying my luck using an ink cartridge refill kit, but it seems rather messy. Also, it's convenient being able to print from my Mac and iPhone, I'll give it that. But having to keep powering it off an on just to get it to cooperate is an incredible pain in the rear. Stick with your Dell, at least it's not a sleeping beauty that refuses to wake up.

@@stereophonicstuff Lol, 8 hours after making this post the Dell died!! Well it didn’t out right die. It says there is a rear paper jam but I cannot for the life of me find any paper stuck anywhere! And I’m not the type of guy to spend an entire weekend trying to fix it. Could be a faulty sensor or something really simple. Perfect for you to tinker with! I’m gonna be buying a Brother Laser Printer probably today from Amazon. We need a printer in the house.

That's an enticing offer, but if I have to deal with one more pesky printer I think I'll lose my sanity! Hopefully the Brother printer is just as reliable as your Dell was. In fact, if it's not too much trouble, let me know how it works out if and when you get it; I've heard good things about them.

@@stereophonicstuff I just hate to throw out the Dell when I know it can probably be fixed. It really is probably something very simple. I just don’t have the time to deal with it, ya know? I have so much stuff like that in my garage, a lot of it still works great. Unfortunately, it’s easier to simply throw away than to deal with getting rid of it. Actually, even throwing some things away is hassle. Sad, but true.

Just a quick follow-up... I did indeed purchase a Brother HL-L3210cw LED color printer. It was $215 from Amazon. So far it's been fantastic! It's a very basic color printer, but that's all we need. And toner replacement is very reasonable at about $60 (generic) for all 4 colors. If I remember I'll try and comment again after some long term use.

I will NEVER buy another HP Printer. What absolutely garbage. I bought the HP ENVY 6455e several months ago. It had repeated problems and had to be rebooted many, many times. Virtually every time I turned on my computer, I had a problem with the printer. Then when it was working, I noted it sucked ink like a vacuum cleaner. So, I decided to monitor the exact number of pages I got from one HP 67 ink cartridge. Well, I got 48 pages before it started giving me "needs ink" message. Then it stopped altogether at 53 pages. Are you kidding! only 53 pages to print on one cartridge? Thats about 50 cents per page. So, I bought an Epson. It could never be as bad as this sorry HP piece of junk. I also was a stock holder of HP stock. I dumped it. They should be put out of business.

Mine is less than six months old and doing the same thing. My last HP was so much better, had it 6 years before it died. This won't last the year.

LaserJets (even new ones) are the only good printers from HP.
@stereophonicstuff

I'm still kicking myself for not getting one. I may pursue getting an older LaserJet (possibly even B/W only) to have as a reliable daily-driver printer, and use this HP for copying, scanning, and color prints only.

I bought an HP LaserJet M277dw brand new in November 2016 and it still works terrifically today, seven years later. It is built quite well and it has no issues with cheap aftermarket toner cartridges. I can't imagine newer HP laser printers being worse, but if they are, bummer.

Yup, POS. Mine works great - if I can get it to work. Nearly always shows off line. Always a different solution to re-connect. I've spent many hours (at critical times) trying to get this junk to work. I'm done with H-P! Buying a new printer and giving this one away in hopes somebody else will also write a poor review. Not to mention a monthly subscription and spyware required to use this POS.

That's so lazy of HP. A sticker over the USB port. That only makes me even more curious to want to plug it in and see what happens.
