This Huge Fish grabbed my tiny bait, what a result! This week's fishing film is about Graeme’s battle trying to find a bit of fishy action in his local river. His first trip using lures was in sub zero conditions ,and he struggled to get the rod bent as he was new to the river...2nd trip...he made the critical change..Small deadbaits twitched through likely looking areas, his favourite technique...but even he was amazed at the size of fish that took his tiny bait. What a result...Then it’s into the Totally Random section where a complete mish-mash of topics will keep you watching as you never know what is going to turn up next...It’s time for another episode of "The Totally Awesome Fishing Show"...Enjoy.

Hi Graeme, What a great piece of filming here. Superb Fish on the Kanji Rod. We are definitely heading for Winter now with the Gritters out during the night from Fife to Aberdeen whilst driving the Lorry last night. Hoping to start Cod Fishing sometime soon, with the warm Floatation Suit on of course. Nothing beats them for warmth with my Lined Eiger Wellies. Steve in Fife.

Great watch, informative and encouraging as always, - I’m a beginner and haven’t caught a pike yet, little nervous although tempted to have a go, wouldn’t want to catch anything so big - the stretch of river that you are on isn’t far away - good to see that very decent fish live in that river, couple of hours in the winter on an afternoon is doable and survivable in the cold, since Pike are an apex predator it should mean that somewhere in the river must be smaller fish which keep them alive.

It truly bothers that no longer can you just go to any river or canal without having to go and pay for the day tickets.. once over you could just go to any river drop in your rod and a way your go.. in the north east of England it's all about territory.. recently I thought I had found some river that was fishable but then I find out that one mile of natural river is now owned by an angling society.. they certainly don't keep the river weedless.. no they just bring attention to their society and money for their ticket's but yet they do no maintenance on the river yarm.. I'm not saying all angling societies I like this but not everyone wants to go populated heavily fished river.. for me just going and dropping your lures into a river and hoping for the best is part of the fun.. you didn't say that this river your fishing in Greame was day ticket or is it simply just river you can fishing with your rod license? There are NO wild rivers( good rivers) left in the UK that are free to fish as long as you have your rod licence.. rivers are either owned by syndicate A holes Weedless.. you're either the luckiest guy or it's all down to skill Greame. I think I need to be travelling down south for the weekend or at least every other weekend .. it seems to me North Yorkshire is just more stress than pleasure fishing..
@mikehaines6520
@mikehaines6520 8 ай бұрын
It the same in the South, - the fishing rights are owned by someone - either day tickets or by an angling club, some of the angling clubs have been around for a very long time and are quite wealthy, they have a large membership although not sure how many members actively fish, the clubs do maintain the rivers for fishing as best they can but it generally relies on the members being able and willing to assist. There are few areas which are “free” - these tend to get abused. On our local rivers so few people fish these days, seldom do you see anyone, partly because it’s so difficult to catch anything, - most head for the stocked day ticket lakes which get hammered by match fisherman.

@TAFishing
@TAFishing 8 ай бұрын
I don't use crimps myself for pike fishing traces ,but I do use heavier wire cable,generally about 30lbs or so. If its multistrand I just knot it. Snip off the tag end and you can put a drop of Superglue gel or araldite over the tag end. I think the wire spool I use is probably not made any more,was it Tideline or Tidecutter or something ??. It was basically wire line for either trolling or sea fishing .But if you check you local tackle shop they might have something similar.

Great vlogs graham question for you wat sort of braid do you use for pike? Is it 4 strand or 8? Any help appreciated 👍👍
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 8 ай бұрын
I have a feeling it was 8 ?.. It was 50lb Sidewinder Braid,I think it might be marketed as Sidewinder silk ?? Hope you can track it down,I only have it on the reels so no box to check stats. It was a lure angler that put me onto using heavy braid for lure fishing some years back.They want to get their expensive lures back and it makes a lot of sense as now I changed to it I can often drag out whole branches,get my end rig back and clear the river at the same time. Of course if you slam into a sunken tree or solid object its usually game over,but even then I have straighten hooks out with the pressure of pulling,then put them back in shape with long nose pliers.
