YOOOO let me say this from experience. You see that those pulleys have gunk on them and the belt is showing wear? That will eventually wear a hole threw the belt and could cause a massive failure. The pulleys need to be spotless before being installed against the belt, which should also be clean from gunk.
@Anfurnyy4 жыл бұрын
I was gonna say seems like somethings fucked if the idlers and stuff are literally pulling stuff off the belt. I'd bet one of the 3 guides are too close to the belt causing it to heat up.

That's a gates racing belt. I bet that it was a part of the whole timing kit which would explain the paper water pump gasket (Subaru uses a steel gasket for the water pump). IMO get all that gates crap off the engine. either OEM or Aisin timing kit with OEM or Aisin water pump is needed for this car.

I recently bought a 2011 black STi with mods... poorly treated by previous owners. The paint has a ton of swirls (love hate relationship with black paint) had to get a whole new timing belt kit and ac belt cause the previous owner put it on wrong and it slashed the middle of my timing belt. Lucky It didn’t snap. He had wheel spacers with some rep wheels. Fenders were hanging cause the wheels poked passed them so every bump I hit it would get worse. He had no splash guards so I had rocks in the engine bay and in my intake filter. COBB filter mashed up against the frame so it was crushed. Bought the splash guards, new filter, and got some properly fitting RPF1s with no spacers! A lot of money put into the subi but it’s a dream car of mine! I love your channel and your positivity. Now all I need is a dyno tune and get the car running healthy! Already have the accessport ready to be married

That lock up on the DCCD/blinking light and cruise light is the Clock spring/steering angle sensor. Had those two mofos go bad and the Diff was binding and locking up like a mofo. Easy fix for the limp mode! It’s your speed sensor. Located under the TMIC right on top of the transmission. Swap that out and it will run great and your speedometer will work again. Had this issue on multiple STI’s. Car doesn’t know how fast it’s moving and throws itself into limp mode.

You show how easily you can do most of the dreaded expensive major service on Subarus when the timing belt and kit with tensioner and idlers get changed . Many don't take that opportunity to do the water pump which you show is easy when you get that deep into it. I was wondering if Bobbi would be called in for one of her trade mark mega deed interior cleans ha ha ha Doing great and you know those rims have to be gold or red lol

Wow that was scary to watch. You work alone and safety wise you are probably okay, but wow. I used to be a foreign car mechanic and all the shops I worked at had a policy if you have all the work done just replace the water pump always. When in any doubt replace the water pump and only buy new pumps, the factory pump always costs more by better. I think it is time to take this junker apart and do the Devin touch and fix everything under that hood. It has a lot of issues, every time you point that flashlight at something there is a problem.

Man you got lucky with this one! How did it not blow out all the seals with 3 gallons of oil in it.. lose oil pressure from the crank fuckin up the oil in the crank case. Wonder how the cars emission components are doing after burning all that oil?. What a score tho. Wish I could find something like this. These early model Sti are becoming hard to find, and if you do they want like 15-18K. Which is completely ridiculous.
