@oliversvoice43833 жыл бұрын
I finished iStillPsycho, as part of my iCarly rewatch today, and (while retaining the darkness of the original) I feel the first part is darker because it feels a little more… real. The idea that Nora is a sociopath born out of bad parenting/social life, and was able to plan things out all on her own, felt a lot more intimidating to me than a family of crazies. The spinning wheel was intimidating, especially the detail that Spencer could spin to death if the back button is pressed, but it did feel a little more cartoony in comparison. However, the B-Plot was well done and that climax felt very satisfying to watch… even if Mrs Benson came off as a racist in this story.
@ME.S.E3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I wonder if Mrs Benson would've been that disgusted if he was white. But ya know.. It looked like her disgust came from the job he has and stuff. Cause when she thought he was a guy going to church etc she let him live with her. After discovering he's not wearing suits and is speaking like he does (lol) and hearing where he works (don't know why that's a problem. Is she also disgusted when Freddie goes there and then comes back home?) she threw him out. But it's a Dan Schneider show, so she's probably racist as well. Lol.
@dragonflarefrog14242 жыл бұрын
But Nora didn’t plan things out, she just locked them in a basement because they didn’t account for such an insane thing happening. They even broke out, and for some reason ran back in even though she clearly didn’t have a real axe. As for her family being crazy, I didn’t find that less intimidating then Nora because I never found Nora or her family intimidating. It was more there actions and the scenarios they caused, but they’re not like say Chip or the Prisoners who escaped the pants who were physically threatening. I thought the Spencer thing was a great plot device to keep the characters in check, and I don’t think the general idea of “Spencer will die if you don’t comply” is cartoony, but the method they used was silly. I’ll agree there.

I always enjoyed the darker episodes in Nick sitcoms as it broke most tropes and taught us lessons. My favorite dark episode was of Drake and Josh. Josh has enough of drakes antics and decides to cut him off, stating he's not his brother anymore. Throughout the episode, Drake's life starts going downhill and suffers a ton of misfortune, while Josh has a great life and is happier. Drake finally snaps after a classroom accident and breaks down in tears, apologizing to Josh and saying he needs Josh in his life as he's his brother and loves him. The episode has very few jokes and is a very depressing take on how being selfish can ruin relationships with those closest to you

the thing that made it even creepier for me on second viewing was the laugh track. It's a regular thing in the show, but in this episode specifically, it feels like it's played at the wrong times. our fan favorites are shown tortured and trapped, and the laugh track just keeps playing, as if we're supposed to laugh with it. feels like the viewer is the only one that thinks that the situation is wrong, and even the show itself is trying to convince you that this is funny. just my opinion.

If Sam caught Nora off guard before she could even press a button on the remote, then bam you're saved. I never got into Sam and Cat (it mainly felt like it was for younger audiences) so I'll have to check out the Nora episode before your video comes out. The first two parts of the Nora trilogy I always thought had a tragic side to them. Nora is so lonely in the first part, that even her own parents won't stay for her party. And the clown having an aneurism is downright depressing. The second part I think is more creepy as we learn that her parents are also psycho. This time I feel a little less sorry for Nora, but I still have some pity for her as her parents clearly haven't raised her right. The torture of Spencer and the fact Gibby is stuck in the chimney for so much of the episode is a bit harrowing. But I really like the callbacks with the shock pen and fencing Bensons, plus the whole B plot is very fun and nicely progresses the character arcs of T-Bo and Mrs Benson.

Like, they stay too light hearted to the point where im not invested in the episode, and am well aware im watching just another episode in another tv show. The Halloween/spooky episode of Boy Meets World where they get locked in school at night is a great example of a dark episode done well in an overall light hearted tv show. The first episode that featured and introduced Nora. I felt like that was more like a minorly dark episode with a bit of comedic antics, even though it was played for laughs. It still can be a cautionary tale for terms of who to trust and who not to trust while being careful in the real world on who you meet. The second appearance Nora made. I got to say that was darker than her first appearance. Sure, it was played for laughs but it also is a dark reminder of how some crazy, psychotic and dangerous people should never be given a second chance or that some people deserve a second chance but some people shouldn't even get one chance if not a second one.

I agree that the set up is just way too dumb. This is like a someone scamming you out of your life savings, you get them arrested, and then giving them MORE money when they ask for a loan at the hearing. - I've seen other comments talking about how Carly and her friends never learn anything, especially when it comes to trusting/meeting people they meet online. Looking back on the memories I have of this show, they're not wrong. You can name so many episodes where the main conflict could have been avoided all together if one of them had just used an ounce of scepticism. This episode takes that to 11 with them repeating the same dumb mistake with the main difference being that they KNOW Nora is bad news.

@@edra2005 If we are being honest, sam has some way worse. the point of his character was literally to mirror sam.

I think I remember this iNora special more than the original. I think it’s cuz the entire cast was involved including Freddie’s mom and T-bo

this episode was Dark but Gibby almost meeting his doom that was pretty dark. When he jumps or falls from the ceiling even back then that looked painful.

For me, it's more like "It's another iCarly video, right? It IS ANOTHER iCarly video, RIGHT?" Really enjoying the iCarly coverage. Fun show, and always a fun video discussing it.

The second Nora episode was so out there/far fetched. Like they'd go to her house AGAIN, and her parents are both crazy and in on it. Yeah right.

Honestly, because Sam was there with them, I feel like there were a million ways out of this whole situation. Like, they shouldn’t have even gotten to the point where their phones got put in a blender. 😂

Nora really left an impact for only being on two episodes of iCarly, she's up there with Nevel as the villain icon of the series

The main thing I hate about this ep is just how easy it was for her to trick them. Would of preferred her working her way into their lives then tortures them in their own home.
