I want to be hyped, though I am skeptical. As much as I LOVE dinosaur survivals, the past few that have released have died off fairly quickly, mostly due to suffocating beneath the "big three" (The Isle, Beasts of Bermuda, Path of Titans.) Here is to hoping this one gets off its feet and doesn't die off in weeks/months like other projects on Steam has.

Yea but the problem the other dinosaur games had is that they wernt promising like this one, in order to grow and give the chance for the devs to work on it you need people to buy it and if it doesnt provide enough gameplay in the first place, people will get bored and other will not buy it anyway but this one seems to provide a lot of gameplay and not to mention that it will get released in engine 5. So it seems that it will provide good gameplay and graphic in its release.

@@trinity4700 What do you mean? I own all three, and each have their own potential. All three games are taking different paths and therefore have different features that suit them. I'd argue The Isle has become the least promising due to having four different reboots/recodes now, and the most years in development hell. Bermuda has been delivering quite a bit recently, and Path of Titans has made the most progress in terms of how many years it has been in development.

@@trinity4700 I do not think that the game will have a lot of features upon release. When looking at their discord, you barely see any gameplay mechanics besides walking. The dinosaurs look unfinished, I have not heard any sounds and as I said, I have not see any gameplay mechanics or features. And this game is already 1,5 years in development and planning on releasing at the 2 year mark. I just doubt this game will become anything. Its not promising at all. Too much should be in the game that has not been shown in a somewhat working form at all.

I hope they add Raptor Prey Restraint. Instead of chasing small animals and trying to line up a bite, you could just pounce and pin the small animal down and make the killing blow. Not only is it easier, it's also accurate to how Paleontologists believe Dromaeosaurs killed prey.

@@temujinchannel8584 Kinda, but pouncing smaller animals would take far less stamina and there'd be a special animation for pouncing on small animals. The raptor will pin the animal down by the neck and you can either hold it there until your prey breaks free, or you can do a bite attack that will kill it.

Honestly I'm fucked hyped for this thing. I'm so glad someone on KZbin is covering it. Now, I understand that the market is getting oversaturated already, but Primeval Horizons seems to have what others don't. It has advanced combat systems (grappling, symbiosis, injury, bacteria), advanced survival systems (I think it's gonna have preferred biomes, but I'm not sure, and sickness), and most importantly, they're putting hella effort into optimization. They're also very efficient and very up front about the dev progress, while simultaneously not acting like they have a stick up they're asses. Overall, super hyped

The Isle has revamped its gameplay image 3 times (sandbox->progression->survival) and revamped its *game* twice. There is nothing else to it, only one of the 2 games has been able to survive without flipping its image upside down and inside out.

something a survival game finally did right, the migration mechanic. really hoping that it gets added because games like path of titans and the isle have a huge problem when it comes to those certain popular area's getting overpopulated. for example - impact crater in path of titans. it's really annoying when you want to have fun, fight people 1v1 find some food and almost never have any luck finding anything because most people are always on that overly populated area. ugh. you can barely even ever 1v1 people, those always just turn into 1v5's out of nowhere.

The other fossil pieces discovered in association with Dakotaraptor were actually found to be Dromaeosaurid in origin. So it’s still safe to say that Dakotaraptor is a valid species, although part of the issue with Dakotaraptor is that it’s still based on fragmentary remains, but it’s important to remember that even these fragmentary remains are still certainly from a Dromaeosaurid except for the wishbone of course, hopefully more fossils of them will turn up in the future so we have an overall clearer picture as to how they looked. Same with some other dinosaurs, namely Spinosaurus as an example.

I also agree with your opinion on the Ceratosaurus as well, it’d be cool if the next season of Prehistoric Planet focused on other time periods of the Mesozoic like the Late Jurassic and such, although I wouldn’t mind if the next season went back to 66 million years ago because Dakotaraptor was never shown in a single episode of season 1 and 2, not even Ankylosaurus or Thescelosaurus were shown in either of those 2 seasons of the show, even if they had just one episode for the 3rd season, if there is going to be one, that showed T. Rex, Dakotaraptor, Alamosaurus, Edmontosaurus, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Struthiomimus, Pachycephalosaurus, Thescelosaurus and Quetzalcoatlus and then showed dinosaurs and other Mesozoic animals from other time periods in the other episodes, I would be happy honestly. Another dinosaur from 66 million years ago that deserves to make an appearance as well would be Maip Macrothorax, and maybe Carnotaurus could make a return as well since it was only in season 1 and didn’t appear in season 2 and they’re both from South America.

I love the injury system. If you can be permanently crippled you will think twice about taking on a tough enemy. It will encourage predators to act like predators and go for the weak and crippled first, rather than ankle biting a formidable opponent to death. And herbivores won't want to KOS as much if they risk putting a target on their back to EVERY predator afterwards by losing a limb.

The cool thing about baurusuchus is that because it's believed to have lacked lips, it looks like an awesomebro animal, except it's ACTUALLY ACCURATE. I like this because it's kind of a neat twist to see something that looks so overtly awesome bro with all the armor plates and scales and big scary teeth, and also to have said awesome broness being how it actually looked. It feels surreal. As a side note it's really weird that baurusuchus lacked lips. Most notosuchians showed signs of lips but some of the predatory ones for some reason did not.

There was a dinosaur game I once played. Long dead by now. It wasnt very good quality wise either.. But it somehow was the best survival experience I ever had... Growing up- a challenge. you'd spawn in knowing very well you probably wont make it to adulthood, with each run consisting of escaping, hiding, chasing, hunting and constant searching for food and water as each new growth stage introduced new opportunities aswell as risks. I remember being so utterly disappointed when I played the isle legacy for the first time and finding out that most dinosaur games really were just walking simulators with food requirements attached, and I am still waiting for a dinosaur survival game to really nail being about surviving. And this one seems to be on a good path!

what it sounds like is that this game lacks anything special, that sets it apart from the big three. it would be the fourth if it had some type of unique gameplay, path of titans with its quests, beasts of bermuda with its combat, growth and perks, and the isle for its realistic graphics and high quality, with elders and special mechanics with each dino, as an example. most of those games are different in some way, which is what makes them rival eachother. even though this game may die off like the others, i still hope it doesnt, and it becomes something special and different.

The gameplay loop is different. It has severe and permanent injuries, migration, nutrition, etc to encourage players to behave more like animals and give them something to do. I actually want to play this, unlike The Isle or BoB. Purely because, if they do good on their promises, the SURVIVAL part of the game will actually be fun. Herbivores will have reason to be concerned where to find their next meal, carnivores will have to select their targets wisely and fight with finesse to avoid a crippling injury, and more. Every action feels more important than in BoB or The Isle.

I only plays the Isle out of the 3 major game and have some knowledge of the other 6-10 game with similar theme but I do want to see only a healthy competition and not lose any of these games because each what shown off have potential and different takes on the theme. I personally want more survival games that cover all the eras where multicellurar organisms appeared so from the cambrian period to the modern day. The Cenozoic Era could be a good game if covering this era which is also huge and the team is small, there will be hopefully a game based on the Alien Biospheres on the planet named Tira. Also a game would be good for Permian period and a combined game which covers all the eras. For single cellurar organism there is Thrive which hopefully some day could become a better Spore. I hope these games will find their audience and once this game will be available I will try it out too.

The Isle's 13 creatures all have unique animations, ability's and calls, they also play differently from the rest of the roster. PoT has yet to add nesting, a mechanic they have shown on OFFICIAL trailers for nearly a year now and there is no talk on its development. The Isle already has a climbing mechanic being finalized and PoT doesn't even have pouncing.

looks like they are finally adding the ability to grab/pin your prey with your big toothy mouth as nature intended. hopefully you can also collide with other dinos instead of clip right through them. Imagine charging someone down with a headbutt, knocking them to the ground and then grabbing them by the neck when your mouth. or charging another dino as a triceratops, impaling them on your horns, leaving gaping wounds.

We'll see. There's been a lot of promising and not much delivering in dinosaur survival games so right now actions have got to speak louder than words. I'll add this to my 'keep an eye on' list and we'll see.

Who here thought they where expecting the show primeval but a pvp game to fight each creatures from each episode like levels ,or you actually play as these creatures and have different mechanics to fight the human characters to unlock upcoming creatures when primeval was cancelled.

I Try not to be Hyped, because this game ticks ALOT OF BOXES. Oh. Hehe. Looking forward to more Information during the next Months. Thanks for Sharing and informing. Let's see how dominant the Alien Lore is implemented. If so, i hope it keeps it "real". :D But yeah. Let's not get too hyped and be cautious. Dinosaur Games. We know them. And we know the heavily different opinions of People in that field. :D

I wonder why its never a big and stable company that does these games, its always the most smallest teams which is kinda a shame. Such games need better and bigger support. Cause every survival game I play lately is so empty , only like 2 or 3 really full servers (beside path of titans, path of titans is always alive)

It's always been a niche genre, and it's not a simple one to insert yourself in. Even The Isle never broke 12k concurrent players.

I am skeptical, it seems like dev promises everything people want to hear but that''s A LOT of mechanics to implement and developing game isn't easy at all. Imo dev is overpromising, I won't get hyped until those mechanics are actually in game because people can promise anything but that doesn't mean they will actually do it

Problem for me with this whole subject genre is the lack of any goals or targets in the games. It's just go in. Eat...die. I would kill for even an open world game with a plot, proper quests/side quests or collectibles.
