it looks like the hotel was occupied by someone, because in front of the door where there is a pool there is a pool cleaning machine and a pipe that is neatly rolled up like it has just been used

The onsen was clearly not abandoned. There’s still using it. The building not so much. It looks like that building was recently vacated. Like in the last few months. I don’t think it was very smart of them to keep the lights on when they were at using space. Unless of course they were actually renting it.

Japan really is an interesting place. I've always wanted to go there to see it myself. Such an interesting mix of ultra modern and traditional culture. Plus, it's nice to see a place where stuff is generally left alone, unlike most places where anything abandoned gets swarmed and looted if people leave for more than a day.
@ironhell813
@ironhell813 Жыл бұрын
Japanese believe anything that wasn't successful or was abandoned is cursed and they won't loot or in many cases even trespass. However this doesn't mean they will use it again nor would they sell it. They both believe that the place can never be used again plus it's owner still believes that the land is valuable to sell. Even though it'll never sell because if the aforementioned curse thing. Japanese people are screwed up. An entire race of high functioning anxiety lunatics.

Awesome episode. Couple things that I find striking is that some of these places look really clean, even after being abandoned for years. Another thing is that there is pretty much 0 evidence of theft or vandalism. It makes these places so much more interesting to explore. Last, but not least I also get the impression that everything is unlocked and easy to access!

@@Estellay504The hotel they stayed at is certainly no longer in business. However, in Japan, if you enter an abandoned hotel without permission, it is a serious crime called trespassing. And the hot springs where they bathed are still open today and are not free. Perhaps to disguise their criminal activity, they refer to the hot springs they bathed in as if they were the hot spring facilities of an abandoned hotel where they stayed. However, the hot springs they entered without permission were not the hot spring facilities of the abandoned hotel where they stayed. The hot springs they bathed in are located in another hotel that is still open today. The abandoned hotel where they stayed and the hot springs where they bathed are separated by several hundred meters. So what they are doing is a clear crime. They are repeatedly trespassing in Fukushima and throughout Japan. I think this kind of behavior will antagonize Japanese people.

I have mapped out over 2000+ abandoned places in Japan and work closely with a website hidden from the western world, only known in Japan. If you are still in Japan, or go back, drop a comment so I know you see this and I'll message you the website and the list. I don't want it public, but I trust you guys. I've mapped some amazing locations, never seen to the public eye. And we keep it up to date, so we have places that were recently abandoned or found.

So I really enjoyed this explore, with nearly everything intact, and I'd have gladly watched a couple of hours of you getting into the hotel's nooks and crannies like I would myself. Maybe there's a certain kind of voyeur that craves all the little details of the building's former life; if so, I'm all about it. Just sayin.

1997 was a bad year for Japan. Several banks and financial institutions collapsed late in the year and there was a run on the banks. Domesitic tourism faltered as people weren't keen on spending disposible income when the economy was faltering. It wasn't uncomon for hotels just to close their doors with a view to reopening 'shortly' after the storm had passed. That time never came, and with the devaluing land prices, they weren't even atractive for redevlopement or sale. Thus you end up with the time capsules you see in the videos. Plus also with the extremely low crime rates in Japan, alot of places go untouched until the weather and lack of maintenance take their toll.

@simplepixel5617

@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath I did think about that before posting the comment, but i did it anyway because for me it seamed that the damage is only in rooms where there are ceiling and wall panels. At least that's what I saw briefly in the video. You were there, I'm not going to argue with you :), but I saw many videos with 7 and even 8+ earthquakes in Japan, and just minor cracks occurred in walls. Mild earthquakes could displace wall panels and just that. But again, you were there, so my arguments are invalid. Another great video btw.

This is just my guess, but I think it might be used to keep track of hotel guests for every room on every floor. Because traditional ryokans pay great attention to service details, any living habits or service requests of hotel guests that may affect the service may be recorded in the book. Moreover, this type of hotel should have many regular customers. Only by recording this information can the hotel ensure that the hotel can provide the same or better service quality when the guest checks in next time. And the round turntable should just be more convenient to take these books.
