Neața! Oare am aceeași problemă și la Vw Lupo FSI 1.4 77Kw... Dintr-o dată nu a mai pornit mașina și nu îmi mai ,,citea nici transmisia(cutie de viteze semiautomata)"...Am dus-o la electrician și după ce a dezasamblat aproape toată partea electrică, mi-a spus că E posibil să înlocuiesc și CPU sau cum îi spune al mașinii și unitatea de control a cutiei de viteze! If your car has random troubles and you don't bother diagnosing it for 2 years, you're lucky you only get to replace the ECU. Always search for the root cause even for "minor" issues like whole instrument cluster flashing error lights, instead of waiting the car to totally fail.

I own B7 and i have never experienced problem with ECU, Ecu is cheap and its easy to replace and program the ecu on all vw passats or other models of the vw, you just need to have correct tools to replace and program the ecu,

After replacing the ECU, the car (B6 2.0 TDI 170hp) behaves the same: the engine stops randomly, only when I drive slowly, steadily, properly.

I would argue that most problems with VAG cars are caused by wiring issues. Fault codes may suggest a module is faulty when the fault is actually in the wiring going to the module. Of course, if you see water damage on modules, then the module may be faulty because of the corrosion caused by the water.
