As someone who was raised Catholic, I can confidently say…I have no fucking clue. It feels wrong to fixate on how graphic his death was as that was never supposed to be his message. Granted we had crossed in church that showed Jesus on the cross, but they were for the most part very tame. It may be to show just how much pain he went through for us, but I think there’s better ways to express it than showing a bloodied and beaten dying man similar to what The Passion of the Christ did. Maybe it’s those brick and mortar Christian’s who use fear and coercion to convert people. Which, you know, that’s always a great thing to do…

As a Christian I can answer this.. so the blood sacrifice in the old testament points to Jesus Christ and the sacrifice he made for us, I asked recently to people “why did God choose blood sacrifice” and well from what I’ve heard is that the blood is to show the person that sin leads to spiritual death, and if you think about Christianity in the shoes of the symbol, the cross was a bad torment device, it was the worst death punishment you can experience for the most extreme acts of crime.. God gave up his self in life form to understand us, to not condemn or judge but come for the sinners.. when he died on that cross he made that disgusting punishment a beautiful thing.. you see because of our sins we were supposed to be on that cross or in hell for our sinful acts.. I mean think of Christmas, a 100,000 award or a accident and everyone is usually trying to save themselves risking or even purposely destroying the life’s of others to be on the top, this leads to murder, sabotage and etc ( I watch a lot of crime shows) But when Jesus died on the cross he made a bridge between earth, heaven and hell, we give ourselves to the God who reached us through the beautiful sacrifice and be humble enough to know nobody is good.. the kindest people that people know can become bad people from abuse or neglect, or something that’s a motive. But the bridge of Jesus keeps us from hell and lets us be with our creator which is why he did this sacrifice You may not understand the Bible or believe in it, but I would suggest looking and studying it because as a women with 11 bibles almost 13 if you count the family Bible I can say that I’ve had many questions and still do but I can’t deny the Bible because how much all the scripture just points at itself.. Jesus came because the old testament has 613 laws, this is so that the chosen people of God wouldn’t act like the nations around them, and I believe homosexuality isn’t necessarily a sin I can see why it could be seen as one but looking at the context around those verses I believe those verses are just misread and misinterpreted by Christian’s and it happens quite a lot like psalm 46:5 isn’t about women it’s about the chosen land.. anyways we couldn’t save ourselves from these sinful acts.. and that’s why Jesus came, when Jesus died the veil of the Old Testament fell or ripped as in the old covenant isn’t a thing anymore although the 10 commandments and repeating verses or stories are important so the entire word is still used but we don’t follow some of the Old Testament books because that covenant wasn’t with us anymore Also girl or sir if you have been hurt by the church, so have I been to.. I used to be a satanist, a witch and a athiest before i looked into science and the fine tuning arguement isnt the best but i highly think that if their is other life out in the universe God made it perfectly good for them to live like how our earth is.. many Christian’s are very politically right winged but politics shouldn’t matter in a faith, many Christians are self proclaimed but a lot of us aren’t true Christians, I struggle with sin almost every night as a female but only men can relate because it’s pointed to them more then females and so we never get help, I saw a story about a Christian missionary who was a pedo. I want to go into missionary and seminary school to spread and learn about the gospel but I honestly sometimes think I’m not loved by God, that my past sin means I’m not saved.. but the lord died for every single sin I’ll commit pasta present and future and to pray about god for guidance

There was a massive statue of the crucifixion - hung on the very back wall of the church - made of unpainted white stone, and I always thought it was beautiful. The focal point and area with the most detail was his face*. The first time I saw a fully painted statue in front of a Protestant church, I thought there some sort of horror attraction going on. It was just… gory and kinda gross; the feet and the hands held way more painted detail than the face. *statue Jesus was also entirely nude and I spent many a sermon staring at the _distinct lack of cloth,_ if you catch my drift. Boy, I sure do wonder if that was a clue for anything that I would discover about myself at the age of 14……
