Semi-sleeper! Mk5 Fez’s in Zetec-S spec, still look sweet! I had a 1.25 Freestyle in Med. Steel Blue, and although it wasn’t quick, the chassis handled fairly well. The FRP 1.7 engine is tuned from 125 to 150bhp, IIRC. There were a fair few Pumaspeed 1.7 conversions into Mk5 ZS’ back in the early 2000’s on the Fiesta Owners Club.

I once had a mk5 Zetec-S with a Severn Valley turbo conversion, battery in the boot, charge cooler where the battery was. Absolute pocket rocket running 215bhp. Shame i blew it up

This is one car I wanted Adam to drive - the old Pumas and this shape fiestas drive so well. Excellent gearbox, engine response and steering. I loved my Puma 1.7 more than the 172 Cup I owned. Yeah the 172 had a ton more power and had more pointy front end but the Puma was excellent in all aspects apart from brakes.

I have a puma and had 3 renault sports. The gearbox and steering are great on the puma, but I think the engine is average. The Renault has a much more responsive and revvy engine imo and obviously more power.

I get you, I’m considering the Puma motor giving away 300cc and it was designed before the F4R. Ford really got it right with the inlet - and got it so wrong with the ST170!

Noisy cabin but it sounds tight as a drum. That linear supercharger boost is just perfect for it. Tis nice to see a wheel inside a tyre, pointless having that Quaife otherwise. Cracking little drivers car.

This is mint! Local lad to me got one similar. His was a mk4 but changed it to the mk5 zs bodykit, had a 1.7 puma engine but now has a mk7 1.6 turbo from the ST, I've had 4 mk5 ZS I absolutely love them. Shame the rear arch's rot. The 1.7 was a better engine than the 1.6 too! That stupid breather pipe under the inlet on the 1.6 was terrible! Always splitting and if you didn't know the engine you wouldn't of known it would of been that, very easy and cheap fix though

I had a red 3 door 1.25 zetec white dials pop up sunroof, stainless steel exhaust,induction kit,ported polished iridium spark plugs and leads then remapped .... 75bhp standard 103bhp when finished it was lowered on coilovers and always felt shit quick on the back roads because they are so light it was doing 0-60 9's and got 122mph out of it on the motorway going to Kerry the reason they are so tunable (zetec engine) and so fast is because they are all DOHC 16VALVE and built by Yamaha

@@notmenotme614 I never said it was fast had a Chrysler 300c that would 155mph as well and it was like a fucking boat but the little 1.25 zetec s on the back roads the handling was sublime there was nothing that would keep with it was lowered on coilovers and in 3rd gear at 6,000mrpm and cornering like on a Raleigh track you can have all the horses you want they're no F$#King used to you

I traded in a mega unreliable saxo vtr back in the day for an imperial blue zetec s. Lowered it on spax suspension and a janspeed cat back and a pipercross induction kit. The gear box the grip the noise it made was awesome. It wasn’t the fastest but it was a proper little drivers car you could go everywhere flat out.

Isn't puma gearbox an IB5? Same as Focus mk1 (1.4, 1.6, 1.8 petrol ones)? This Gearbox can easly place over 50nm it was designed for (~240nM?). With quaife You can easly place almost 300nM on the ground. Owned 1 car with IB5. After 2 engine swaps (stock 1.6, another 1.6 and 1.8 frankenstain with 1.6 & few 1.7 parts) it still was working great. I believe that 1.8 did over 220nM.
