George Michael wrote this song in like 1980 when he was just 17 years old! 17!! He wrote, composed, produced and arranged this record and he created/composed that saxophone riff himself. After he finally found a saxophonist to play that riff exactly how he heard it in his head, he finally recorded the song in 1984. George can basically sing any genre, but I would consider him a soul singer. "Blue-eyed soul" but he has brown eyes! lol He has an incredible vocal range and amazing control over his voice. He is one of the VERY few singers who you cannot tell if it's a live performance or a studio recording. The richness and smoothness of his voice! WOW! Yes! Please react or just listen to more of his music catalogue. He writes, produces, composes, and arranges about 95% of his stuff! Some of his live performances that truly exhibit his incredible vocal range and I think you would enjoy very much are: "Love's In Need of Love Today" (Stevie Wonder cover) which he also performed with Stevie Wonder himself on stage at the Motown Returns to the Apollo concert in 1985) , "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" with Elton John kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKSuooCEedSFatE , "Calling You" with the amazing Lynn Marby (Jevetta Stone cover) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJC9XpJ9pdKDoas , "They Won't Go When I Go" (Stevie Wonder cover) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZLXkmChqNKroMk , "I Can't Make You Love Me" (Bonnie Rait cover) kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5O6e4Juh7KaZ6M . My favorite George Michael song: "Kissing a Fool" kzbin.info/www/bejne/npnQm2l9opJpetE , "One More Try" (which he wrote, produced, played all instruments, composed, arranged, sang and recorded in one 8 hour session) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHiYf2Z9eJKgaJI , "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" duet with Aretha Franklin (YES! Aretha Franklin!) , "Spinning The Wheel" kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4TSfoeho8SEnMk . I can go on and on, but I think I should stop. lol Enjoy your GM journey!

Yes, I'm 70 and still listen to him. I remember when he won the AMA for favorite soul singer (against Michael Jackson and Bobby Brown), and favorite soul album for "Faith", many African Americans were pissed off that George a "white dude" won. Gladys Knight, Spike Lee, Public Enemy ,rap groups, etc. etc. etc. were ticked. George went back to England . He couldn't understand why America was so Black/White. I don't think he ever got over it. He had issues in her personal life. My fav songs of his are "Kissing a Fool, "That moment with you" but many others. He did duets with Aretha, which won the grammy for best duet, Beyonce, Whiteney, Stevie, Garth Brooks, Queen, Elton, but I have to say my fav is with Mary J. Blige from Stevie's cover "As". It was in a movie too. If you listen to his interviews, he was a very intelligent man. I guess if we look at it today, George was right about America being so black/white. I swear he wrote "Praying for Time" for the years 2020-21.

Yep, you beat me to the punch. Alot of folks wrote songs when they were teenagers. Bernie Taupin Wrote "Your Song" at 17 that of course became Elton John's breakthrough Song. Paul Anka had a bevy of Hits under his belt most notably Diana at 15, then Carole King wrote "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" at 19 for The Shirelles. Keep in mind that this was slowly the beginning of George's Solo Career kind of like with Justin Timberlake with "Gone".

Fun fact here.... did you know that Aretha Franklin when she first heard this song asked who wrote it and upon hearing that George wrote all his own music, she asked George to write a song for her , but George was still in Wham and was scared to write a song for one of his inspirations that he had looked up to , that he said no . When he was embarking on his solo career , his first song was a duet with Aretha !

One of George Michael's very best vocals in a career filled with timeless classics...He had a voice so smooth that even whipped butter was jealous. George Michael (English: George Michael, real name: Georgios Kyriakos Panagiotou, 25 June 1963 - 25 December 2016) was a British singer, songwriter, lyricist and music producer of Greek Cypriot descent. [36] He became world famous mainly during the 1980s and 1990s, and is considered a very important talent in music even after his death, as he had a wide range of vocals. [37] He has also been described as a soul singer, although his work is closer to pop than soul. [38] It has sold more than 125 million records worldwide. [39]

I have a collaboration for you to react to if you'd like. George Michael & Elton John "Dont Let The Sun Go Down On Me" LIVE (George is in a blue suit) Beautiful lyrics with 2 amazing voices. These kind of collaborations are so special.

Now you have to do "I Want Your Sex".... It IS and ISN'T about what you think. The video "explains" the message. Follow that with "Faith", which "I want your sex" opens the video for "Faith". The video for "I Want Your Sex" had groundbreaking content, especially for the "times" with AIDS being an epidemic. Regardless of all that, they're seriously great songs, GREAT DANCE tunes, and George Michael was an amazing artist! Thanks for the reactions!!

I saw the girl who is now my wife of 30+ years in a night club and asked her to dance to this song, what a song, "guilty feet has got no rhythm".
