This happens when you let your locs grow out too much.. so you're locs are binding together. So when you try to pull them apart, you end up breaking the hair strands.. over a period of time you will have to bind some together to mentaine structure and strength. Also because it's micro locs, it's much harder to weave the locs properly. So the locs are breaking at the tiny loose spaces between them. Also avoid using conditioner. This will soften and loosen your locs. You have to preserve the roots inorder to have healthy locs. I hope I helped in some way.☺️

I am always so envious of those with micro locs. Seeing this video put a lot of things in perspective for me, so let me first say how much I really appreciate you being completely honest and real on your video. As I was watching I was literally talking to you like…. Giiirrrlll….👀😩. Your video has made me realize that I absolutely do not have the “discipline” for micro locs or sister locs. I definitely do not have the budget to pay for the reties at this point in my life. Lesson for me is I need to be happy with the locs I have and the fact that so far I have been able to maintain them myself. Your locs are beautiful!! I truly wish you the best on your journey.❤️

Thank you for being so vulnerable with your followers. As someone who's had traditional locs for 7 years I can say that microlocs and sisterlocks require regular maintainance (4 weeks or so) to avoid the roots joining and thinning. However if you don't like to maintain your locs regularly, then go the traditional loc route. Either journey is beautiful 🖤 for me personally I'm the type that hates retwisting regularly so traditional locs work perfectly for me. Just encouraging someone out there

@MargauxChanel3 жыл бұрын
But retwisting doesn’t last NEARLY as long as interlocking does, which means you have to do it way more often. So essentially you’re still taking just as much time maintaining your locs in total if not longer. I know from my own experience, hence why I stopped retwisting personally. But keep doing whichever you prefer.
@keisims4443 жыл бұрын
@@VM-nu2lg all I use is water and oil to retwist, water and softee hair grease if I’m desperate lol I do it every 4 weeks and wash my hair biweekly. I wash before I retwist and after I finish washing I apply a tiny bit of oil/grease to my scalp and roots, then retwist. It must be my hair type, but my hair holds the retwist very well without a gel or holding product.

We are currently takitaking down all of Our 320 twist locs without cutting them because they're disturbing with all of the twists on top and winding back on themselves so taking them out and doing actual microlocs with a 4 point rotation. It's less to do with retie schedule as it is the twists twisting back and looping over and onto them themselves as locs weren't twisted tightly. After they swell spaces in the locs had no where to go but back onto themselves.
@nunubian94193 жыл бұрын
I lost like 2 locs but I eventually reattached them once my hair grew out a bit. Don't stress yourself, you can pop them back in lol. Honestly, I only retie if I go too long without maintenance (even then I might retwist a few). I don't use tools when I retie just my fingers. I accidentally interlock my locs together with tools a few times and fixing that is hell. But majority of the time I palm roll (I have 547 locs). It's quicker lol Have you considered retwist instead or retie? I runaway from my retie days and just end up retwisting anyways lol

What you stated about someone else not introducing someone else into your head is contradictory. If you did, in fact, have a trusted loctician, you probably would not even have suffered those problems. Of course, when shampooing at home, you still have to take the time to separate each loc so that they do not conjoin at the roots. But keep in mind, that generally speaking, a professional loctician will complete your retightening in one sitting over one to two days and then you would not have to stress about the process and be done with it. Reputable stylists and locticians DO exist and you could definitely benefit having their number just in case so as not to have another situation like this.
