This Is a Start - LOTRO Update 38.0.1

I hear all the complaints and I'm not going to argue with them, but I don't even remember when the last time I had so much fun and felt so happy just playing the game. The new regions are astounding, both in Gondor and in Umbar, the story-telling is top notch. Crafted gear is in fact easy to get because while simply questing and digging/mining on my way I managed to max out all of professions, get most of the recipes, get enough resources and already made some gear that I can't even wear yet - all in 4 days of casual play. The new cosmetics are wondeful, and the City of Umbar itself is just unbelievable. The raid and other instances will come, they already adjusted the resources for crafting, making them easier to get. And even lag is not too bad on Laurelin. After Gundabad which drove me insane with its mazes, tedious and long boring quests, with constantly being lost and never seeing the sun this is just god given. I never even fully completed Gundabad, will wait until I reach new level cap so at least when I'm cornered somewhere because the map is useless I don't get bullied by a hundred mobs. There are great things about Gundabad, and the latter part of the epic quest line had some of the best story-telling in the game (if you managed to survive through the boredom of the first half), but with Umbar I'm just having an absolute blast and will be doing it all on all characters I can. I would strongly recommend to just start playing it, read the stories, admire the views, and maybe you will love it just as much as I, and many others as I see in the game chat, do. It's very fun!

I don't understand why the developers ever thought that 30 ingots was going to be good idea to craft anything ever. I would *never* mine 30 nodes out in the world for 1 piece of armor when the expectation is that I can get gear as a quest reward anyways

Will they modify the professions’ toolkits? Since now we can modify which ones we want.

Last I remember is that the crafting events are supposed to allow you to build tools for whichever professions you have

Pretty sure most mixers are using Universal Toolkits at this point except for stuff that requires extra crit.

@@meinking22 I don't remember any universal tool. Does it have all the tools in one? I ask because it's difficult to walk around with more tools in your bag.

@@marcossjdr Yes. It's called the Universal Toolkit. It has all the tools in one. It's only available from the store and not too expensive (something like 200 LPs). I've also got them from Hobbit presents but that's a dice roll.

The Flame of Ancalamir is now functional. And I just checked my scholar, and there are no scrolls recipes.

Also checked my tailor, and the light/medium armour recipes now require only 6 hides and 0 red sea stones.

I've been hearing lost of negative feedback for the new expansion, but as a new player who has been living this as its first expansion at cap level I'd like to praise the worldbuilding they've done with Umbar: the landscape is absolutely stunning and the storyline is really compelling! I have been enjoying the game really much, and it saddens me to hear that much negativity with all the devs' efforts

You're new, when you get to the point that you've been through 3-4 releases with zero content, your tune will change.

Louie this was not a step. Maybe foot. Not even hobbit or dwarf foot more like a rabbit foot. They just fixed a few things that were working before Umbar. They should start adressing the player base and come up with a plan how to fix this mile high mess.

What I wonder most about this patch is the things they don't mention but still will be 'fixed'...I hope. I'm only level 50 on my Warden and am currently finishing my quests in Angmar, and I also need to visit Sarnúr before moving on to Eregion and Moria. Thus, I don't worry about the content in Umbar right now (still a few months away from getting there). But after U38, I did notice (and others have as well) that with the change to the primary stats of the classes, my Warden lost all her Evade ratings except that little I got from a cloak I had because none of the stats gives Evade ratings any longer. This is a bad thing since one of the Set Bonus in Blue that gives you Morale on evades is now useless, not to mention the trait where you can sacrifice your Evade ratings for more Block and Parry. But I can't sacrifice something I don't have.

@@mechwarrior13 Nope, nothing in the patch notes about it. But there are always some hidden fixes they're not adding in these notes, either because they are too small or SSG hopes that not many have noticed them in the first place. That way, they won't look as incompetent as they are at times. I hope our Evade ratings are back with this patch and that they only 'failed/didn't bother' telling us.

I did log in after the servers had opened again. There are still no Evade ratings from the main stats. Without a couple of gear items with raw Evade ratings on them, my Warden still has zero Evade. Either they haven't fixed it yet, or they think Wardens should rely on essences and the Evade you get from some of your gambits. If the latter, then Wardens below level 100 are f****d since getting any reliable essence gear lower than that is nearly impossible.

@@deviliciouspanda2430 There is already a thread about the issue on the Warden forum of Lotro, and I've sent a bug report to SSG. But with all the other problems in 'Corsairs of Umbar', I fear it has drowned in all the noise of everything else that needs to be fixed. Hopefully, they are aware of this issue, and a fix is coming. But considering how long they kept the Warden in a ditch before the revamp, I'm fearful of how long this will take.

Its all in normal order. Some bugs at release, first patch with hot fixes. More stuff will come with time for sure. Why not enjoy with new content instead of whining :D Its great.

No, the low level content is still fine. And the Umbar issues will probable be fixed long before you get there, unless you're planning to power level or use a level boost.
