Some creators are so passionate about their creations that they will take on the very companies they helped create when their creation is pushed or used in a way they never intended or wanted it to go. Look at the Super Mario Brothers. After that first live action attempt it was thought Nintendo would never again let their IP be put in another medium ever again. Then nearly 2 decades later we got the Super Mario brothers movie we should of gotten the first time.

It's weird that they chose to change Oolong's skin tone, maybe the ears and nose looked even worse when light skinned, so they painted the actor and the nose and ears black to (poorly) hide the flaws. Who knows? But one thing is for certain, this is not, by definition, blackface. And no, just because his true form is light skinned, that does not make the transformation blackface. Yes this is true in that the original Hong Kong Cantonese and mandarin versions of the DB: The magic Begins film are more accurate in their own interpretation translation for most of characters in the movie’s storyline but not all of them completely might I add. And plus their was a Japanese version of this movie released by VAP Inc an subsidiary brand of Fuji TV & the Toei company but it’s practically lost media and incredibly rare to find and also in proves this film is shockingly not an bootleg movie like most websites covering the history of the motion picture claim.

Old kung-fu movies have the same problem, asian language translation into english, especially languages in the east like chinese, korean, and japanese are incredibly challenging compared to translating other languages into english. This is because these languages are so far apart from english in terms of language families. It is manageable nowadays due to translation improvements but it is still a problem. Back then, there were less translators and the ones who were there were worse at their job and had less tools.

The reason why I think this bootleg Dragon Ball movie is better than Dragon Ball Evolution is because Dragon Ball Evolution was able to use the names of the characters some of their abilities but chose not to follow the actual story but Dragon Ball Magic the right issued to use the names of characters and abilities and didn't have the technology to make the quality look good but yet still follow most of the story for Original Dragon Ball so this is my reason on why I think this movie is better than evolution just wanted to give you my opinion of both movies( not meant to take in a bad way just sharing my own opinion) thank you for reading😊😊😊

I find it hilarious. I always enjoy seeing the various Vietnamese dubbed Chinese films that my Vietnamese friend likes to watch on her phone. I like looking them up & watching them with English subtitles. The action isn't always convincing, but it is fast paced & good for some laughs. That's how I became acquainted with Stephen Chow's older stuff, like Flirting Scholar. The effects crack me up. I don't think DBE can beat this in entertainment value.
