I think there's a lack of perception to just say the Magic Begins is worse because it's old and has low budget production. It is an unlicensed and unofficial adaptation but objectively a better Dragonball movie if you choose ignore that it is a "bootleg" or "knock-off" (which I don't. it's not a dragon ball film for me). In contrast Evoultion has the license, budget, technology, and rich history and reference to draw from but failed in all aspects. You can slap a new title to it, change character names and it could be a different product.

The dragon balls were too small. Goku doesnt look asian and his hair is too short. Piccolo shouldve been designed better. Why is Chi Chi too weak and calm. Bulmas hair isnt blue. And everything the host pointed out in the video. Master Roshi is way too young. In the cartoon Roshi woulkdve kept groping Bulma & made a naughty comment and got hit by Bulma. In this movie he is scared to touch her. Yamcha knew martial arts in the cartoon when he was a kid but not in the movie as a teenager?

To be fair DragonBall: The Magic Begins is more based on the original Dragon Ball: The Curse of the Blood Rubies. It's almost scene for scene which is why it's more enjoyable. DragonBall Evolution on the other hand is a completely different story not even close to any of the stories we know from the original Dragon Ball franchise. It just throws random stuff together hoping it comes out good but it wasn't even decent.

Dragon Ball Evolution shouldve been teen Gohan and Videl, his hair is closer to Gohan's, and they couldve still used the high school aesthetic if they wanted to. Fun fact, i was never a dragonball z kid, i knew of characters but never watched it, DB:E was my first exposure to like Dragonball content, and even i thought it was bad with my limited knowledge. I will say i dont think ive ever seen someone accidentally create a SPY KIDS looking shot, but that scene where Goku hops across the lava makes him look like hes in SPY KIDS: 3D

I remember getting excited knowing that they already have a movie on my the OG Dragon ball Z cartoon, but seriously when I started watching it I disappointed first with the actor who they chose for GoKu. He looked like a usual Bihari from India, who though are usually smart and good looking yet super nerd at the same time. No offense to my bihari bros but everytime he came on screen it was like he was about to speak something in bhojpuri. Moreover, it seemed like they changed some characters or story as it felt less relatable. In the cartoon I remember master roshi was an extremely old person, but here it shows him almost notoriously attracted to Bulma! The OG Piccolo wasn't impressive at all, while in the cartoon series he looks compelling and dangerous even in negative shade, though I remember the time I watched Piccolo and GoKu were almost always at each other's back supportingly. Bulma just had a streek of green hair😅. I mean I know things cannot be completely copied same to same from cartoon to reality, but still things could have been more better. Chichi I never saw fighting with anyone in the cartoon (Although I know she too must be a martial art fighter). The dragon balls were not as glowy and attractive as shown in cartoon. Also, the age Goku started his training was way earlier probably after he started walking.
