Elvis' music was like a combination of Rock and roll, Country, Blues and Gospel. You can tell he's so happy to be back preforming live. I think it's so cool you and your Grandma can share this. I think that would really touch Elvis ☮️

I LOVE this performance and your excitement watching it. Elvis was inducted into five Halls of Fame: Rock and Roll, Country, Gospel, Rockabilly and R & B. His songs often had a combination of different genres. I am currently on an Elvis kick and he was so amazing. The fact that he was so kind, down to earth, helped so many charities and individuals out and was so incredibly handsome makes me like him even more.

I know you played football. Elvis loved football, too. Had his own team with uniforms and cheerleaders. He had 3 TVs in his TV room so he could watch 3 games at once. "Lawdy, Miss Clawdy" is another one you would like from the 68 Special.

Elvis first recorded this in 1954 (!), at age 19, just a year out of high school. That version is often played on the 24/7 Elvis Radio station on the Sirius XM Radio network. Both versions are very similar to one another, but in this '68 version, 14 years later (age 33), his voice is much more powerful, richer, fuller, deeper, more confident, but with the same emotional depth and charismatic tone as at age 19!

I just love this performance so much. It's just so good. And that is his old band that he was doing it with, it was a segment during part of that 19 68 Comeback Special. And I know you like to do live videos, but Elvis, particularly with this band, had so many incredible hits. And they were hits for a reason. They're all just so good, and there are just so many good ones, there aren't nearly as many live performances, and so the only way to listen to those is to the audio. But you will love a ton of that stuff. Hard Headed Woman, A Big Hunk of Love, Teddy Bear, Let Me Wear Your Ring Around My Neck, the list goes on and on.

This is rock n roll stripped down to it's building blocks. No amplifier effects; no guitar distortion. Rock n Roll was built on the combination of RnB, Gospel, and Country. Rolling Stone called the Special "a great moment in Rock."

I was a teenager at this time. This was called "Rocka' Billy." A combination of two music classifications. "Rock and Roll" and "Country" (aka Hillbilly). Went to one of his concerts. Absolutely great. Someone threw a rose upon the stage, and he stopped the concert and told us that he appreciated us ( his fans) but "please do not throw things on the stage because I cannot tell what is coming my way due to the lights." He continued, "I was doing a concert a while back, and someone threw a beer bottle up on the stage just as I was going down on one knee. I landed on the broken beer bottle with one knee and required stitches". Then he politely thanked us and continued the concert. Nothing else was thrown on the stage. Also, went to a "Jackson 5 Concert". What a talent Micheal was, even when he was small and singing with his brothers. This era birthed some fantastic talent!!!

Probably one of my favorites! He is FIRE here. No artist is the sum of one performance BUT, this one performance shows his charisma, his dedication and pure pure talent. They didn’t call him The King for nothing. It’s definitely Rock n Roll but he did perform and brought many genres of music to his performance. Rock, Blues, Rhythm & Blues, country and even gospel. I do wanna suggest more SRV, some Tom Petty and The Black Crowes!

Elvis was constantly singing, sharpening his knives, working on his craft. If you knew him and were around him, he would sing playing either a guitar or a piano for hours. Many times after two shows a night in Vegas, he would have his female group, The Sweet Inspirations, come to his suite to sing gospel songs until the early morning hours. He was real with his. Thankfully, your grandmother loved the music and didn't believe the BS about him being racist. There is truly no artist like him then, before or even now!

Elvis ... "Bridge Over Troubled Water". ( he covered Simon and Garfunkels classic hit) "Just Pretend" ( this is a C.western song) "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You" ( a ballad), "You Gave Me a Mountain" "Viva Las Vegas" ( from the movie) "What Now My Love" ( '73 Aloha concert rehersal) "Blue Suede Shoes" ('68 Comeback Special) "Polk Salad Annie" ('70 Las Vegas), You've got to watch the Elvis movie if you haven't already. Watch it with your Grandma, I'm sure she'd love that being she's such an Elvis fan.

LAF While listening to this at his most passionate (when he almost couldn't stay in his chair) my lamp started freaking out doing a great strobe light effect! (And nope, just a normal bulb.) That was so much fire that Elvis owes me a lamp! 🔥💡 (Okay, since I've swung on his birthplace's porch swing many a time and my parents lived across the street from it in Tupelo for many years and were friends with his cousin, I forgive him--God bless & rest him.)❤‍🔥
