My mother used to say "God was really showing off when he created Elvis"
@sonofjay8172 жыл бұрын
It crossed my mind once that I wonder if God created such a man to demonstrate a limit story of the potential highs and lows of an individual when taking the wrong path in life. Elvis who seemed to embody perfection in his prime was depressing to watch in his last performance.

Those looks are partly from a full Cherokee great, great Grandma called Morning Dove, on his Mom Gladys side. There are b/w pics of her online in native dress. There's a channel with recolourised b/w pics of young Cherokee people back then & they're all stunning looking. On his Dad's side , they traced his roots back to Ireland in the UK & a he had a few German ancestors too. ( Recent UK documentary).

Close, close but then there’s “If I Can Dream.” I know, two different songs: one Rock and Roll and the other a plea for brotherhood and peace. Bottom line is that anything he performs becomes alive because he inhabits the emotions and meaning of the song. The man is flawless as the greatest interpreter of lyric and melody that’s ever lived.

Scotty Moore was unbelievable on guitar. The way he played those gibson guitars. Those riffs, and fills. He was insane on guitar. So sorry we lost him anot too long ago and DJ Fontana on the drums. You know his early records on sun just had Elvis on rythm guitar, Scotty Moore on lead guitar and Bill Black who died a few years before the 68 special on bass. That's why you have Alan Fortas on stage and and Charlie Hodge on some backup vocals and guitar it was just a.3 part band and they created magic with Sam Phillips delayed tape echo.

Billy back in the day Elvis was always fascinated by the way the crowd reacted to him. So when he was in concert he would do things like move his leg or make a specific face or flick his finger and watch the crowd go wild because he couldn't figure out why they were doing it. The people who knew and were willing to talk about the fact that what he was doing was literally playing with the audience to get a reaction from.

Tryin' To Get To You was first recorded by Elvis in 1955. Yes, the man could sing. And as you noted - no autotune or any other technical innovations. Just raw, natural talent. You can't go wrong with the 68 Comeback Special; it's Elvis at his very best. Your reaction made me laugh - thanks.

Greatness is greatness... no matter what age, genre, generation... all true performers and musical artists bow down and recognize and admire and envy the talent and personal magnetism possessed by one person, which was Elvis. All superstars of the last 40 years, have dozens and dozens of performers on stage with choreographed dancing, backing them up to create excitement and spectacle (which is fantastic ,we've all seen some really great shows and videos of them) but no one has had the talent and presence to literally stand there by themselves captivating an audience to the point of Hysteria , night after night year after year.... alone all by themselves.
