In my Jedi Academy retrospective a few people kept recommending to me a few mods. One of them that kept coming up was the Movie Duels mod and holy crap it is amazing! This is the best Star Wars game ive played and nearly decade. Hope you enjoy this review of what is now one of my favorite Star Was Mods out there!

Yeah, despite Disney's best efforts to tarnish George's legacy, it is still amazing, and basically any Lucasarts game is still goated. I keep returning to them from time to time. I never played the EA SW games, not only do I not want to, but I doubt I could even run them. 8 GB VRAM requirement is just too much for Fallen Order.... I've got 4.

Playing this Mod in tandem with the VR mod was absolutely unreal. Everything about the game translates over so well other than the fact you can't see your own body, but you can stick out one hand to force choke and bring someone closer while swinging your lightsaber to chop'em up.

Ok that i need to try! So far Half Life 2 VR mod is my favorite VR experience but this might replace it if I can get it to work

I played through the VR mod literally day one and never thought to try to run it with movie duels, I'll definitely have to try that in the future

The Jedi Knight Series was a massive part of my childhood. Still is a game I love to this day. Thank you for continuing to put a spotlight on a series that helped shape me!

Only found your channel recently. Holy shit I am loving your content. Your vids on Outcast and Academy got me through work today, and after coming home and booting up Academy only for Tavion to one shot me with her sceptre, I feel like I need to get my touch back. Been playing it since 2019, when I tell you it’s come far it’s come FAR. And it’s gonna be adding lots more too. It’ll effectively be the best lightsaber combat sandbox you can find. If anyone is even thinking it looks pretty cool, you’ve no idea. Highly recommend it and thanks for giving it some love in your video.

This mod is the definition of a sandbox experience. If you like Dragon Ball games, this feels like the Star Wars equivalent of BT3. A huge roster of characters to pit against one another, with all the main fights and what-if scenarios thrown in as well. I've spent hours treating this game like a toybox, making NPCs fight each other, or swapping characters to play missions as. This mod is even going to see a new mode, where they re-introduce Academy's multiplayer so that you can experience that as well with all of the new additions And adding Disney star wars is good, because Force Awakens can end how it should, with the better trained and experienced Sith wiping the floor with a stormtrooper and a Mary Sue

That sounds awesome! Since i made this video i went back through Academy's updated campaign in this and just spawning in new allies or playing with the new weapons' was worth it. Not to mention every duel felt intense do to the dueling system. Such a great mod!

I'm just amazed at how they reaccreted some of the cutscenes. The engine isn't that great for cutscenes but they worked some magic on it to make it work lol

@@BBQBARNES-GAMING In all honesty, the engine worked fine for cutscenes, but it was--much like Skyrim was for its time--very limited back in the day. Essentially, scripts were juuussst enough to get by. 🙂 This was because new ground was truly being tread by JO, JA, and even stuff like Deus Ex. Great stuff!

This mod is awesome. Wish it had New Jedi Order characters like Jaina and Jacen Solo/ Darth Caedus though. Would love to play a recreation of the fight between Jaina and Caedus from the Legacy of the Force book. The fan film totally hyped me up for that even more.

Actually, bud.. They didn't accidentally leak the source code. It was a requirement that it had to be made publicly available, under a specific rule or law. I forget what it was, exactly. I've worked on the Movie Duels mod since 2017, which was when I began the Movie Duels 2 (originally created by a JK community member named "Wector") and decided to rebrand the name to better suit. Calling it STAR WARS: Movie Duels. It was done as a Remaster, to bring it up to standard, as it was too good of a mod to be left behind. Especially when the likes of Movie Battles II (multiplayer mod) was gaining so much traction. Make sure to continually check back on our moddb page, for mod updates and content. As we're still working on the mod and adding things to it.

Oh cool. I saw some interviews where they kind of skirted around the question on how it got released and saw some comments that it wasn't supposed to get leaked so assumed that was it, but cool to know it was supposed to be released from the start. Yall really did amazing work with the mod. I'll definitely be keeping a eye out for updates because I'm still having a blast with it, especially running through Outcast campaign again with all the added features.

The montage at the start was done by the company Sky for there Sky movies channel, they go through a phase of renaming some of the movie channels to represent the movie they are playing all day (i.e. Sky StarWars, Sky MiddleEarth Sky Wizardingworld, SkySuperheros

I just added the link in the description. It is on Moddb you need to download the Movie Duels - Update 6 Part 1 then part 2 files then follow its instructions for where in the game file to copy it to. hope that helps!

This mod is cool and fun and packed with a bunch of details. but I wouldn’t recommend donating to the team or joining the discord. There was a bunch of blatant racism and other types of bigotry being perpetrated by both members of the dev team and supporters. The people who made this mod are seriously not good people. Be wary when engaging with the forums and stuff while you play.
