@Cinemassacre : I know I'm waaaaaay late in finding this. Regarding NES Star Wars: It was a great game for me as a kid. Unfortunately in this video you quit before it got to the best bits. Once you escape the Death Star, you get to do the Quad-lasers vs TIE Fighter sequence, then X-Wing vs TIE Fighters sequence, and then finally a fast paced 2D upward "trench maze" to final get to the part you get to launch your torpedoes. Or you can watch others do it in their KZbin videos. Empire Strikes back was long, if you had got past Dagobah, you had to fight Cloud Cars with your X-Wing (similar style to Snowspeeder level, but fast paced), then do same crazy map in Cloud City, then try to defeat Boba Fett's Slave I in your X-Wing, then another big maze to fight Vader. I had the old Nintendo Power books back then to help. Once you memorize the mazes, it's just the fight sequences that are hard.

It's crazy seeing how far these games I've grown up w/ have come. I just finished the new star wars VR game on oculus quest & aside from a cpl bugs here & there, I can honestly say I've finally played a completely immersive & interactive star wars game where I actually felt like I was literally in the star wars world.

I loved disco back in the day, I still don't get why many were against it. It's not like the rock station that became 92.3 KTU was of any worth. It was fresh, new music inspired by soul. Even white people like me got into it. Disco Demolition Night should have never happened.

As a child, I played the Game Boy version (a port of the NES version) and I couldn't even leave Tatooine. Now, more than 20 years later, I'm making use of the quarantine spare time to finish games I couldn't as a kid, like Super Mario Land 2 and WarioLand. Those were kind of easy. But Star Wars... Man, can you believe I actually left Tatooine but without the lightsaber? I'm playing over and over again with the little goddamn blaster, getting further everytime, but it's a pain in the ass.

One of my favorite Star Wars games from the 90s was Xwing/Tie fighter for the PC. One of those where you create a character for campaign, earn medals etc and if you die it's permadeth. In a way I liked that cuz it motivated you to commit instead of just winging it, but also made any trial & error attempt a suicide run lol
