I've been using this kind of pre- and post-distortion EQ for years, but I just do it manually. When using distortion, you really need to think of what you want to distort and what you want to keep intact. Using an EQ before or after any kind of saturation will have a very different effect.

@AGAU10224 жыл бұрын
So the sidechain is frequency specific? Do you know if Saturn's side chain is frequency specific or single band?
@KnzoVortex4 жыл бұрын
And it's cheaper ($69 vs $99), has *3 distortion types* (did you even wath the video my guy?) and a sidecahain mode. before badmouthing something, I highly recommend you pay attention and muster a basic understanding of the thing you are badmouthing. However, for me this thing is rendered useless by the lack of oversampling.

Yes, I bought Spectre only because of multiband capability which gives less hassle and faster workflow. For one band Blackbox HG2, for sidechain a lot of other options.
@johnthecreative4 жыл бұрын
I may the only person in the world who doesn't like Saturn 2 or Spectre but I demoed both recently and couldn't get either of them to sound nearly as good as a lot of other saturation plugins I know of. Both are fairly CPU-intensive and as far as the multiband ability it has I don't find it that useful. Either I want to saturate a track or I don't. If I want multiband there are work-arounds to getting it to do that. The Saturn and also the Spectre plugin that is similar both sound very strange and fake to me and their tape doesn't sound like tape, and there are much better valve and tube saturation plugins out there - I'm talking about dozens of better options. I think these plugins also have a convolution reverb built in that I suspect is humming on some low level, and doesn't really make it sound better in my opinion, but some are probably unaware that it's just a little reverb they could add if they wanted to in a less CPU-intense way.

It’s got nice graphics! The typography I really dig, but they have probably been heavily inspired by Ableton on this. Their website and also the fonts used in the UI are the exact same sans-serif Avant-garde / Century gothic inspired font as Ableton uses. Very curious indeed, maybe they want to appeal to that user base in particular? 🤔 The plugin looks very clean and easy to use unlike those “try to be realistic it’s even got screws” skeuomorphic thingies.

Can you review Coffee, Titanium 3 and coral eq plugins by acoustica audio. They are free :)
@KnzoVortex4 жыл бұрын
Coffee sucks way too much of my CPU to be any good, can't even judge the sound because of the horrendous CPU hogging it causes. Btw, you should really check out Airwindows plugins, I've heard about them a few times but never really looked into them, it's kind of daunting the amount of plugins he has and the depth of the website, but Chris, the guy behind it, makes some of the best analog emulation style plugins you can find, and all for the most of his stuff is free! The sound quality on the plugins is absolutely remarkable, and comes very very close to the real stuff. Chris is also extremely tranparent with his work: o big compary name that could have alternative motives (it's just one guy) and no 3D modelled designs that cause compaines to spend so much on how a plugin looks: his plugins literally do not have UIs, just a couple of sliders and your ears, kind of an odd decision, but it mostly works out, and it allows him to work more on the plugins than the visuals. (I'm sure it's also a reason he's less popular, no visuals is not ideal for marketing) So yeah, you should really check it out. Mr recommendations would be: ToTape6: awesome tape saturation/distortion plugin, amazing sound www.airwindows.com/totape6/ And also the beginners bundle. (Also, remember me at all ;D )
