I’m pretty sure that Coldplay credits all 4 members regardless of who writes the song, as they also divide royalties evenly. And I too have heard Gweneth Paltrow say he wrote this for her after her dad died, although I don’t know if CM has ever confirmed that. It’s one of my favorite songs by them!

Chris was also close to her dad who loved music. Her dad brought a rare keyboard/piano that gives this song its unique sound. The piano was delivered the day he died - or very close to it. After a few weeks, Chris asked Gwyneth's mom about the piano and she gave it to him. He used it to write this song.

This too is my favorite song by Coldplay. I was shot and ended up being paralyzed from the waste down due to a bullet in my spine. I remember laying in the hospital bed playing this song over and over again fully relating to every element on every level. For anyone who has ever lost something they truly could not replace, someone or something they’ve cared for this is a song that definitely hits the heart. Much condolences 💐 for the loss any has taken who may come upon and read this post.

I can't listen to this song without crying. Along with Bruno Mars Talking To The Moon, it reminds me of my beautiful son and my husband who passed away. He wrote this song for his then wife Gwyneth Paltrow to comfort her after the death of her dad. Beautiful reaction James.

could I recommend to listen to a cover please? a very new cover but a truly gorgeous cover. BTS covered Fix you just last night on MTV unplugged. Coldplay have shared it on their social media already as well as commenting on the MTV video itself and have said it's beautiful. I’m in the video (not that you can see me, I’m in the crowd). That live part was filmed at the Bolton Wanderers Football Stadium and they actually played the song twice. Chris asked us to go even more wild when he was swinging the light and the fireworks went off. He joked that we had to get it right because they couldn’t afford any more fireworks. They were supported by Elbow that night. Elbow are totally worth listening to as well. Amazing band with great lyrics and vocals.

I always get shivers up my spine when I hear this. We all need 'fixing' from time to time so perhaps we should look around and hope that we can 'fix' someone. In 2007, my wife and I caught a plane to go on holiday and while we were boarding there was 'pop' music playing over the PA system. Everyone was on board, the doors were being shut and this song started. It ran for about a minute and someone - probably cabin crew, stopped it and said that she had been asked by the Captain to stop the song and to delay the safety announcements whilst the song played. The song re-started and it seemed like all the passengers just sang their hearts out to it. During this time the flight-deck door was open and at the end, obviously having heard it, the Captain thanked us all because he'd recently had a death in his family and it meant so much to him. When we landed, he came off the flight-deck to wish us all a happy holiday and stood by the exit door to say goodbye to each of us. That was some flight and some Captain!

There's a choir here in New England called Young@Heart. They r all senior citizens. One man, who is dying of copd, sings this song. It was 7 years ago,vso I'm sure he's gone now. It was supposed to be a duet, but the gentleman who was to sing it with him died suddenly on the day of the performance. His wife wanted them to go on with performance. You can see them crying in the audience. Sorry I don't have the link, but u can look it up by the title. The song takes on a whole new meaning sung by an elderly person. Please give it a listen. 🙏

I am in love with a lifelong alcoholic, and I watch him kill himself a little every day, struggling with the horrible pain from his past and the scars it has left. He occasionally gets sober, but so far, never more than a year. I didn't think I would ever have this much love or this much patience for any human being, but he's so worth it - it's just nearly impossible to convince him of that. But I will always lift him up when he falls.

It's a great love song. It's about acknowledging lost love (a lost father-in-law) and the healing promise of love (from a husband) moving forward. But it's written in such a way to be so accessible to anyone who has lost love -- but still has other love in their life -- that it can help them through. And even if you've lost everyone, it's still sung in the first person, so you have this person singing a promise of love to you, and I think that's why it's such a beloved song.

Needed this today. Just had to help my furbaby, little Joey, move on to Heaven on Friday after a 6 month battle w/a cancer so aggressive the oncologists only gave him 1-3 months tops to live. That was last August. He was such a strong, sweet, funny little boy. He was my baby. I know he is with his older brother, my beautiful furbaby, my sweet son, my 😇 Chewbacca, who passed on January 4th, 2019 from lung cancer, & all of my other family members who have passed- animal or human. And of course, he is w/the Almighty, basking in His luv. My heart, my sympathies & luv go out to the person who requested this, & to u, @JBLETHAL TV, & to everyone who has lost someone. God bless.❤
