I'm not sure if you recognized Leon Cromwell. He is the first demon lord introduced, just a few episodes into season 1. He is the one who summoned Shizue. They reminded us this episode that he is trying to summon a specific individual. He was frustrated/saddened in season 1 when Shizue was "the wrong one again" (or words to that effect).

Reason why Demon Lord Frey helped Clayman was because she owe him a favor back from Charybdis arc (S1 ep18-19). Frey is the Sky Queen and also the Ruler of the skies. Thus, she had to deal with Charybdis and would struggled or had many casualties as a result. However thanks to Clayman, Charybdis went to Tempest and was dealt with by Tempest (Town) and Milim instead. As a result Frey owe Clayman a favor and thus she did what he wanted by giving the necklace to Milim, she's actually friend with Milim and was just blackmailed after Milim has been controlled (else he would use Milim to destroy her like Carrion) to be his collaborator. As shown in the episode, she made Clayman stop hitting her and is the one taking care of her since she has been controlled.

Different shows take that concept and shape it around their world and its characters. - There are currently four True Dragons in this world. 1) ??? 2) Milim. 3) Veldora. Our beloved and perverted dragon friend. 4) Velzard. Ice one and elder sister of Veldora. - Guy - Ramiris - Milim. These three share an interesting past and if I remember correctly it is revealed during the Walpurgis. Although, there are anime-onlys who have guessed part of it because it was "foreshadowed" at some point in previous episodes. - Think of Clayman as a commander and Rimuru as a leader. Clayman stays back and uses his "pawns" to do his bidding. Rimuru, on the other hand, rushes first to the action and his subordinates follow him exactly because of that. That alone shows how different these two characters are and how they will eventually clash.

Actually, do you guys remember about milim nava backstory, so after milim mother give birth to milim her mother's died and then her father took care of her. Some spoilers.. That 2 maids are actually the primordial demon green and the primordial demon blue. Guy gave them names mizary and rain. So guy have 2 primordial demons and rimuru will have four primordial demons (black, white, yellow, and purple)

I think you should not worry about the season being left in a cliffhanger because the novels, especially volume 5 and 6 are just that long. The first season covered up the first four books quickly because there's not much world building and politics stuff involved but starting from volume 5, it starts to get politically heavy so there's so much to discuss and too many parties involved in it. They are finished in the discussions and the battles are all that is left so maybe the season will be finished at the very exact end of light volume 6. They cannot leave a cliffhanger since the next volumes are a bit long too. Cutting them into parts will be awkward and unsatisfactory. That's why you don't gave to worry about cliffhangers.

Clayman is literally a rug compared to Diablo, even before being named by Rimuru. Rimuru after consuming the Orc Lord would have beaten Clayman. That is the only point in the story where they had 'almost' the same rank and he has some sort of chance beating Rimuru. Any point after that specially after Rimuru absorbs Charybdis, and the Sky Dragon, Clayman becomes Shitman. He wouldn't stand a chance against Shion, Diablo, and Benimaru in a 1v1.
