3ds’s have a custom antenna for streetpass. They will slowly degrade, it’s part of the hardware. So in 50 years or so when the 3ds antennas degrade enough streetpass won’t be a thing. Streetpass isn’t dependent on software or servers, it’s all hardware. So streetpass will always work if there’s pristine 3ds’s. Just to let you know. You could get streetpasses as well from net pass (streetpass in modern world where you can do it online) if you have custom firmware on your system, but it’s definitely not the same feeling as seeing that green light, light up and knowing you passed a fellow 3ds user in reality. (But it allows you to play all the street pass games on a regular basis like you did in the past)
