This is Croagh Patrick's New Path - September 2023

This video shows the entire new path on Croagh Patrick from the statue of St. Patrick to the church on top. I filmed this on 7/08/23. This could be useful for anyone thinking of climbing the reek or if you would just like to see the new path. There is still much work to be done but now there is a much safer route to the summit.

Moving to the area next year ,my father's side are from here , can't wait to make the ascent always wanted to do this since the eighties ,the path looks like a real improvement.loved the first person viewpoint ,and the sense of just the viewer making the climb ,so many other videos are packed with other visitors ,it takes away that personal connection i think .

I did it 34 years ago on Reek Sunday with my uncle (r.i.p) no food or water, it was packed! It was a clear nice sunny day too. Plan on doing it again in April.

@@user-kp7qn2dn3p it took us longer than most because I have asthma and atrial fib and my husband has 2 knee replacements and a pacemaker. As we began the climb, I had to stop every 50-75 meters of elevation to catch my breath, then about every 100-150. We also wanted to enjoy the view at every vista since we'd probably never do this again and I wanted to see everything I could because my mother's family is from Mayo and Tourmakeady so I wanted to pick out landmarks. It took about 4 hours going up and 3 coming down. Most don't take nearly that long!

That pathway should be closed at once. I am from the other side of the country and we do not have such a beautiful walk and I am offended. Mountain less regions matter. 😅😂
