Exploring the woods of New Hampshire I caesura across a stone bridge out here crossing a river. No doubt it is from the colonial America days and was built by the settlers.. Well I went back out there today to see what else I could find and no doubt this is a lost road. Cart path, wagon trail and a road that lead from one farm to the other this is one. Soft shoulders on the sides embanked in some spots and three bridges in total I found. The forest is heavily overgrown after a couple of centuries and made it a bit difficult to connect all the pieces but I did for at least a mile. I was hoping to find a cellar hole where there would have been a house but I did nt. What I did see was rock walls cutting across the landscape showing us that people where doing something out here back in the 1700's . This was a great hike with exploring the New England History that surrounds us and lost out in the forests.

With all that glacial till around there, it might be a good idea to carry a gold pan. That river looked hot! I know I'd have to check it.😊

I would think that detecting the road would give you answers to the many questions that you have . ( who was there , and what did they gain by putting all that work into making those bridges .) I think that all those answers could be answered by the things that you could possibly find in the road .

You have incredible knowledge about the New England rock wall systems. Would you consider applying your research and knowledge to a special describing the types of, sizes, uses, etc of the walls, road systems, etc of Colonial America? I watched another video from a university that I think clashed with what you present. They indicated that it was the sheep industry that started the wall systems. (??) It would make a fascinating video special. Thanks.

Reminds of a time in the back areas of okinawa, a stoned court area an I could just smell the old bronze coins from the 1600's and then I got that low bronze signal and just knew it and out pops a Buffalo nickel :)) had to be a coin dropped during WWII 🪖
