I’m a welder, it’s unsurprising the framers built around the weldment, it happens more often than you’d think. I’ve had to get pretty good at carpentry and drywall over my career, because sometimes the other trades aren’t willing to undo their hard work 😂 I love exposed I-beams in residential houses, it always looks amazing when finished. Acme Acres is going to be a beautiful property, and it’s a ton of fun to see your vision come to life, been here since the beginning!

My mom used to be the closest to the door, but then she switched with my dad because she was tired of me or my brother entering their room at night (due to nightmares or difficulties falling asleep) and waking her up since she was the closest 😅

My wife and I have our side of the bed that doesn't change no matter how the room is oriented. She sleeps on her side and it's the side facing away from the middle. We even sleep this way in hotels.

As for who sleeps on what side of the bed, honestly for me I get up at least once or twice a night to use the restroom while my partner sleeps through. So I like to be closest to the bathroom to provide the least disturbance and if that happened to be on the side the bedroom door was, so be it. The house is looking great! So excited to see the progress 😊

I'm a firm believer in whoever gets up in the night more to use the bathroom or has to get up earliest sleeps closer to the door. As far as defensiveness goes, there are enough safety measures in place that I'm well aware of them before they get to anybody.

The glass windows in the back reminds me of my grandfather and grandmother built a house in Mocksville, NC. Their whole back of the house was glass and overlooked their pasture with horses and a lake it was gorgeous. Hopefully if it is not too intrusive we can see the view when it is finished, I'm sure it will be absolutely beautiful!

Yalls house is SOOO BEAUTIFUL I'm so excited for ya'll! I hope to have something this beautiful one day. We are currently getting evicted MIND YOU I have a 6 year old daughter because my landlord refuses to accept rent because I have an emotional support animal (a cat) who does nothing wrong just supports me I tragically lost my dad. But we aren't aloud to have "pets". So now we are getting evicted for "non payment" court is on the 31st. I'm super stressed we have nowhere to live, there is nothing for rent. Yall pray for my little family that we have a miracle. Depression has kicked in.

As far as which side of the bed you sleep on, for me depends on how " safe" where you live feels. Right now we live out in the country, so it's pretty safe. I sleep further from the door, so she can get to the bathroom easier in the night

The Bed Debate xD My husband usually picks the door side for same reasoning.... I'm more of the, if you're waking up early/often in the night... you get the bathroom side. We lucked out that our bedroom is designed to fit both our view points xD ground floor though, with a window opposite the door, I think "defense" is pretty mute since there are more options for entry lol.... but get a dog! lol. At least that way they're likely to wake u up before they get to the bed room sort of thing... House looking beautiful though! Coming together nicely!

My husband always has slept on the side with the door. If you are going to can from your garden. You will need a a good size area to put the jars, then you will still have leftovers. But it’s always easy to give some away.

Just a tip with getting puddles on your floors, find the center of each puddle and put a 10-12mm hole through the floor it will save your floor from rot, instead of water sitting on it

When i moved in with my now wife, i had to switch sides from what i normally did. Especially odd since we moved the bed to the corner. She is closer to the door, because the children wake up and need mom. But i enjoy sleeping in the corner now 😅

The two steel beams don't need to be welded on the bottom. That wouldn't help the beams do their thing. The bending forces in the beams would be transferred by the bottom of the beam, which is zero at the end of that beam that the joists are attached to. The weld would be transferring zero force.

In my house - with my parents - my mom sleeps closest to the door so its easier for her to come help me out. (Disability life) but also no one has ever broken in through the bedroom door but someone has broken in from the bedroom window so... dad still first in the line of fire

I normally sleep on the left side of the bed... So regardless of where the door is, thats where i lay... we lock our bedroom door at night, so if someone got into our house first the alarm will go off, then they will be met by a locked master bedroom door... then they will meet their god cause i am armed in my room... so wouldnt matter which side i slept on

To answer the question about sharing the bed, to be honest I've never really thought about it. Ever since I moved in with my wife when we weren't yet married, she has always had a thing about I'm closer to the door. It's for the same security reason, and I've never really questioned it. It makes sense, but similarly to you Toonz I'm also basically dead when I sleep. So she'd wake up first and I'm murdered in my sleep. 🤣🤣
