Walking quietly on my own recently, not paying too much attention to the direction I was walking and I fell straight into a hole in the ground. When I regained my senses and my eyes adjusted to the light I found I had fallen down a rabbit hole and the wall was plastered with pictures of a strange but intriguing band. Unable to move I was left with no choice but to go through the entire catalogue of music the band had hidden down there and the more I listened the more I found myself regaining strength. Mesmerized by each individual band member from Saiki's beautiful voice and her graceful presence on stage, to the bright and bubbly Miku and her amazing backing vocals perfectly complimenting Saiki, her Rhythm on the guitar flowing seamlessly with the Lead guitar of Kanami who from the outside appears as a polite and somewhat shy person until you place a guitar in her hands and she becomes one of the most amazing guitarists I have ever seen. MISA on the bass who endlessly pumps out amazing sounds and intricate patterns that I am not even sure I have seen before working in perfect harmony with the wonderful Akane on the drums who is flawless in her fills and double kicks and with the most endearing smile as she lives her life to the fullest. I was hooked and felt I had found one of the greatest bands EVER and when I had finished listening to all the music and interviews I could find, I emerged from that rabbit hole as a new-born and proud MADIAC. Beautiful music is in the ear of the beholder and my ear (well both of them actually) is completely tuned to Band Maid, I hope to be listening to them for a very long time and I hope they continue to amaze me. They also did an acoustic session which is phenomenal and I have watched each song many times but then I can listen to Onset, Freedom, Domination or influencer and many others where they completely rock out. Love these girls :) Peace out - Maidiacs :)

Singer Saiki asked Kanami. lead guitar and composer to write a ballad for her. Kanami claims to be in love with Saiki, so who knows what emotions were at play here. Either way, and it could be an in joke, t he result is truly brilliant and illustrates the depth of talent in composition, Kanami, and performance, Saiki and the band. The solo is just perfection. These are a group of wonderfully talented musicians with a work rate that defies description. They deserve world domination.

Their Band-Maiko song Gion-Cho is a good follow-up to these two songs. Another song that like Wonderland wanders into some jazz areas. Gion-Cho is one of their ' April Fools' specials ... it's truly unique. this was near the time when Kanami started getting the rest of the band to do more of the arranging and 'fronting' of the 'lead' parts I'm a serious fan of Kanami's lead playing, always so tasteful and perfectly fitting for the song, so Trust me when I say that this is one of their best songs despite the fact that Kanami doesn't do a guitar leaf part leaving it to MISA sand Akane to lead the way ... and boy do they ever. Gion-Cho is one of the rarer official videos that get reacted to, but it truly is a musical AND cinematics masterpiece.

Absotively! Gion-cho is different from any other song you’ve heard. All of BAND-MAIKO is sung in a different dialect than their usual songs. Miku takes on a role, like an actress, to fit the song.

I once officially described saiki as the Maria Callas of rock! Her costumes have gone from the flamboyant ones of her early years to functional ones! If you look closely, you will see short sleeves on the inside and long sleeves on the outside! The bottom is a mini inside and a long skirt outside! Well done! She has a great sense of fashion. I'm sure she designed the costumes as well. I don't think there will ever be another rock vocalist as talented as she is.

Saiki's belt with Miku backing her always sends chills down my spine and make all the hair on the back of my neck stand up. EVERY SINGLE TIME. And so far the version of Daydreaming that literally makes me cry is the Studio Coast version. The piano, the strings, it just pulls the heart so hard. If you can find the Studio Coast version, you really need to sit back in a darkened room with your headphones on and just listen to it. And the names again to help you. Band Maid Is; (In order of joining band) Name/Age: Nickname: Position: Miku Kobato Small Pigeon/ Band Founder, Secondary Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist, Main Lyricist, Age: 31 Koba/Kuruppo/ Backing Vocals, Backing Tracks, Arrangements 10/21/91 Cluppo Kanami Tono Princess/ Lead Guitarist, Primary Composer, Backing Vocals, Keyboards, Backing Tracks Age: 31 Kanamincho/ Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Arrangements 9/28/91 Mincho Akane Hirose Gorilla/ Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks, Age: 32 Ah-Chan Arrangements 12/14/90 MISA Barefoot Assassin/ 5 String Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks Age: 30 MISA-MISA-MISA Arrangements 10/15/92 Saiki Atsumi Ice Queen/ Primary Lead Vocalist, Backing Vocals, Lyricist, Backing Vocals on Backing Age: 28 Sai-Chan/ Tracks, Backing tracks, Arrangements 2/8/94 Sensei (Teacher) And to me, the guitar solo when it comes at you is like a scream of emotion and longing. Daydreaming is Kanami's fave ballad- She composed it on the piano. But for me it's Wonderland. The arrangement is so exotic and lush- rim shots from Akane and Saiki's vocals- shear quality. There are certain other lead singers, actually no others, that can never achieve such heights, literally.

Thank you for your reaction. Daydreaming is arguably the most beloved song by fans. In their top 10 by far. But Wonderland is underestimated when it is made for large concert halls. This version in Shibuya is beautiful and powerful. Misa's bass is omnipresent in these two songs. You are right to emphasize the importance of the rhythm section as well as Saiki's voice with Miku's complicity. Don't forget that Kanami is the composer and how subtle and intelligent her talent is to add her little melodic touches throughout the songs. Band Maid is a rock band that always surprises us and the most harmonious that exists today.

Of course everything else is brilliant as well.

Daydreaming is a sad, beautiful song. It is my #2 Band Maid song. Here are the lyrics: English Translation Daydreaming, don’t wake me up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul As we swayed under the moonlight Our shadows blended together Clumsiness intertwined I hope tonight does not end This may be wrong Though I thought it was over I still want to believe I feel more alive in this moment Day Dreaming, dreaming about you Day Dreaming, dreaming about you So, I'm daydreaming, don’t wake me up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight, Don’t go I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul Feeling the distance of this breath Somehow I love you so much Our shadows start to move And dissolves in the early hours This may be wrong Though I thought it was over I still want to believe I feel more alive in this moment Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you So, I'm daydreaming, do not wake up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight Do not go I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul

The catalog of this band is the purest wonderland, which quite often leaves me daydreaming.... The Top 10 songs of B-M may be quite different for many of us, but as sure as the amen in the church, is that almost everyone has 'Daydreaming' in it. Rightfully so, imo. For me, it even occupies for quite some time now and so far unchallenged the first place. :) It repeatedly manages to put me in the exact state the song title describes with its instrumental and Saiki's phenomenal voice. Well, at least until Kanami's solo brings me back like a hard Right that could make even a professional boxer jealous and leaves me with nothing but goosebumps. I love it, and it's one of the absolute best songs I know in general. 🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!'_ 」 --- *BAND-MAID* 'Manners' 🕊

Of all my many favourite Saiki vocal moments, several of them are in the song Wonderland. When she sails through 3 octaves at one point (4:35) and uses her head voice (female equivalent of falsetto) to get up high and then drops it so low, and all so smoothly. And Daydreaming is just a perfect jewel of a song (even with it's U2's The Edge guitar sound at one point - that man would be in trouble without his delay pedal!). Band-Maid can move from moving ballad to in-your-face ROCK so easily - maestros of songwriting and lyrics, every one of them! Talking of lyrics, I put English subtitles onto that MV of Wonderland but if I put the link to it here, this comment will get removed...so I'll put it in a second comment above, it will disappear from here but you can still see it so have a look if you're into the superb lyric writing of Miku!

Wonderland is often underrated as it's on Conqueror, and some fans don't like that album because for some of the songs, they moved away from the fast tempo hard rock sound a bit. However, the band wanted to show they could do more than that. Wonderland as you said is a great jazzy, funky song, and is a vocal showcase for Saiki and Miku. The climax when the intro/chorus riff comes back is a highlight. There's a lot of information on Daydreaming as it was released as a single. There's a lot of lore behind the song, and as you mentioned it has a more modern sound. Saiki tasked Kanami to listen to a lot of current at the time influences, like EDM, Tropical House and such, and try to incorporate some of those elements into a song. You can hear stuff like claps, chimes, and the overall EDM influences with buildups and drops. Kanami made a demo with some of these elements, and then Saiki told her good, now make it Band-Maid, and thus this song was born. It was also one of the first songs Saiki felt like she was ready to sing about love, as she had avoided it before. Kanami's solo in this song is often regarded as one of her most emotive and powerful solos as well.

Wonderland is one of my favourites, I love Saiki's vocals on it and just the rhythm and bassplaying in general. Daydreaming is one of the lower ones for me personally as I find it somewhat boring and whiny and I think it is somewhat overvalued by a lot of people, but it is a fanfavourite so it's probably just not for me (like most of their more ballad-y style of songs). I have seen people compare this to U2 and I don't like U2 either as I find them also boring and whiny, so that might be it. I tend to not like "love song" sounding ballads I guess. They have a couple of other ballads, a bunch of them of their album Conqueror. Also as far as their names go: - Lead vocals: Saiki - Rhythm guitarist + vocals: Miku - Lead guitarist: Kanami - Bass: Misa - Drums: Akane

I don't hear anything with them that I emotionally attach to, but technically I certainly respect their brilliance, and I like their songwriting. I have no comprehension of how good their lyrics are, I think something is lost in translation. The second song you reacted to is the first song by bandmaid I've heard that actually makes me think of "classic rock" which is kind of cool, because they are really more metally than hard rocky imho.
