The Who were masters of production. Their songs are always theatric, big sounding, but with lots of layers and subtlety, and variety mixed in. One of the few bands can enjoy them loud, or quiet. Nobody performs like them, though. They own the stage.

Thank you for reaction video Monique! This is one of the greatest classic rock songs ever recorded. The intro is actually not a synthesizer at all, but a rare Lowrey TBO-1 organ that featured unique settings. It creates a unique soundscape for the rest of the song, which blends a rural feeling with lost optimism for the Woodstock generation. Adding the violin coda was a surprising but perfect touch, making this an unqualified masterpiece.

In the UK, in the 1970's/early 1980's, we had a recession, and it became very difficult for anyone, including teenagers, to find a job. There were thousands of teenagers trying to find work, but all they were told is that there was a recession and nobody wanted to hire them. Hence teenage wasteland. Teenagers felt like they had been thrown on the scrapheap by society.

The WHO still rule my dear, they produced several of the greatest songs and albums in rock music history. They just have a sound quality that only a very few bands could match, whether in studio or ripping it up on stage. Don't feel too self conscious about dancing. Great music shows us who we truly are. I myself am an overweight man in the states with a background in ballroom and swing dancing, and I am more than willing to get a groove on when the situation calls for it. Moog synthesizer at the beginning. Keith Emerson of Emerson Lake and Palmer was the leader of the use of and helped to developed more abilities of the Moog Synthesizer. He had a 1968 Moog with the old school tech of tubes, that was taken back to the maker several times (Robert Moog ) to add more capabilities and it got bigger. You can see the original in the following video ---> Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Knife-Edge - 2nd version (1970) - a great song then see how it got bigger in a new cabinet in this video ----> Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Karn Evil 9 1st impression, part 2.(Cal Jam,1974) Remastered by RudenkoArt - Both must see videos.

Baba O'Riley - was part of an unfinished Rock Opera as was - Behind Blue Eyes. Baba O'Riley was used for the theme song of CSI New York. - Tommy - was the name of The Who''s rock opera that became a movie. The hits from Tommy are - Pinball Wizard - See Me, Feel Me/Listening to You - & - Look In The Mirror - I don't think many people would recognize the name of the last one but it does include a revisit of the lyrics of - See Me, Feel Me/Listening to You - that's 3 songs. Elton John did Pinball Wizard for the movie.

More dancing! lol! This is a difficult song to continue dancing to, but, Yeah! Dance! Your face is beautiful! I love the reactions! The Lyric's are about Teens wasting their lives, Not about being cool and getting wasted. This is something I found on the internet about the Lyric's of Baba O'Riley "Roger Daltrey said in a recent interview that “‘Teenage Wasteland’ speaks to generation after generation. The bridge - ‘Don’t cry / Don’t raise your eye / It’s only teenage wasteland’ - if that doesn’t say more about the new generation, I don’t know what does.” He said, "The main advice I give youngsters is to be very aware of what you are getting into on social media. Because life is not looking down at screens, it is looking up. We are heading for catastrophe with the addiction that is going on in the younger generation. Your life will disappear if you are not careful. You are being controlled, and that is terrible." I can try to leave a link if you wish. Thank you again! You are fun to watch! Very easy on the eyes! So much fun to see your facial expressions! So much fun!

The synthesizer you hear at the beginning is one of the original ones. Pete Townsend had to program each sound it produces. It wasn't something you could just buy at that time.

Has anyone else noticed how the closed captions don't match the lyrics, hilarious at times. When Roger Daltrey sings "Before We Get Much Older," the captions read "Before We Get A Shoulder." HUH?
