Yikes ❤ Cold world 🌎 As a black man, having a relationship with an Irish woman , we went through issues with her family, but 2 this day, they remain anew. Her father disowned her and then had a chance to spend time with our son, and our son became his favorite grandson. There are other interracial couples in her family now. So this movie was more of a look into the psychosis of racism and even self hate in my opinion. The glory of life is in what we make of every situation....good or bad...how did you react...what was your response ❤ Great reaction, MJ ❤

@@3rdNationInc Man, I'm so happy your comment turned around from that start - I'm glad your wife's father came around and the family is good to go now. As in my family, it's just, depressing honestly. I grew up in Brooklyn NY, so needless to say, being poor and growing up in the "hood" it was a melting pot of everyone and everything. And thankfully my parents were super progressive and open to basically anything lol however one of my cousins wasn't so lucky. Her parents just could not accept her fiancé/husband being black. And to this day they barely have any contact with them. I just don't understand it, I really don't. Especially when it's your own daughter. I can understand to a degree a singular person who you don't like if they are shitty to you or something, but the racism and absolute hate for someone of a different skin color - I don't understand it and I'm nearly 50 now. Ok rant over, sorry man lol

I thought the Japanese party guest referred to Asian testimonials and interviews with those foreigners who toured southern American plantations during slavery. Asians were never a significant part of American slave ownership. Nor did they gather any labor practices they were willing to implement back home. Enslaved Chinese were briefly sold in western, Central and South America. But he represents foreign curiosity with race in America

Upon rewatch you can notice small details, for example the dinner bit was definitely rehearsed for their victims, Andre was on the phone with Rose while her brother snatched him, and Walter was trying to make a run for it but always snapped back.

I think everyone that watches this movie has to watch it two times. After you understand who the characters are, it's like watching a totally different movie the 2nd time. Jordan Peele did an incredible job with this movie. The cast was incredible as well. Us by Jordan Peele was really great too. I was so happily surprised by the quality of his movies. His movies will one day be classics. And in the horror genre, that doesn't happen often believe it or not. Jordan Peele said all of his movies all happen in the same world too... Think of the MCU. I am interested to see what he does in the future and if any of his movies cross paths in the world he's created.

In an alternate ending, the police showed up and arrested Chris , and it shows Rod visiting him in prison asking him about the whole incident, but he replies, "I don't remember"

Fun fact, this ending was hated by the director and many copies of the movie have the other ending instead. The planned ending and the one I saw my first view is he’s choking her out when police arrive and it’s not TSA , it’s he same cop that wanted his ID. And the dash cam footage shows him pulling up seeing him choiking out his girl . She screams he killed my family and trying to kill me . He puts his hands up and next scene he’s in prison talking to his friend who’s apologizing that he was convicted of a bunch of murders, attempted murder of his girl , an arson charge , destroying evidence charge and in and on. The viewer quickly realizes how bad that whole scene looked and his ex girlfriend Ed lives and testifies agsisnt him. Director said he hates the TSA ending so much becasue the audience isn’t thinking about how stupid that is to leave the scene with your finger prints everywhere and this “prominent family” one that is highly connected to the government and officials are all dead ! It looks really really bad . Truth or not

One of my favorite movies. I have just one complaint: the photos of her with other victims that Chris sees before going downstairs. That reveals that Rose is in on it too early. I think it would have been more surprising if they omitted that scene in the closet, leaving it to the stair scene for the audience to realize Rose is involved in the family's plot. Then her not finding the keys for a while and finally finding them and saying, "You know I can't give you the keys, babe" would have been far more impactful. If it was still necessary to show that Rose brought other victims, they could do it after that, in several ways ... for example, maybe have the room where Chris is tied up downstairs have pictures on the wall of Rose with other victims.

9:20 She's in a power struggle with the cop.. she's not being protective. But she''ll take advantage of that effect, to serve her gain. On the cops side, he can afford to walk away, at that time. The 'request' to the guy was about submission.. Nahsee's used to do that almost 100 years ago.. before the WW2 in Germany, there was en entire build up of nahsee dominance in society and submission to authority was one of those conditions of dominance. Asking for papers is standard; it's a role and right of power of every Regime that's existed on Earth. They're the ones who categorize us and give us the papers, after all.
