Not taking into account the Paul storyline. I find it interesting how Doc Ock and Norman’s storylines are sort of reverse. Ock is trying to remain a villain and is suppressing his heroic side, while Norman is trying to be a hero and suppressing his villainous side, both will eventually return to their true natures. I can see a finale where Norman has subconsciously been planning his ultimate betrayal towards Peter and willingly succumbing to his sins to become the Green Goblin, and Doc Ock will arrive as the Superior Spider-Man to team up with Peter and stop him.

I agree with you on the new villains thing. Like "the big 3" villains (Doc ock, Osborn, and Venom) have all become heroes. I can't take Otto seriously as Ock after Superior Spider-Man, Venom is basically a more interesting hero then Peter, and i kinda really like Norman and issue 26 was the perfrect time to clear the board by killing him and bringing him back as a villain via demonic shenanigans.

I think the reason why doc ock's mechanical arms are good somehow is probably because his inner subconscious is still superior Spider-Man i think that's what they're setting up! I'm really looking forward to the superior Spider-Man series and I hope it stays this way for a while. doc ock is my favorite Spider-Man villain but i thought that was a great progression of his character!

​@steelheart538 If they are going for that route, then I hope that the Superior Spider-Man/Good Doc Ock persona is the one true Doc Ock that sacrificed his life at the end of the original run of Superior Spider-Man, while the other Doc Ock persona is a duplicate persona of Doc's old personality created by Doc after the first Spider-Verse event. As for explaining why he still became good after his resurrection via cloning, well I think they should make as if the spirit of Good Doc Ock was influencing his duplicate clone persona to do good deeds without him noticing. Of course until his deal with Mephisto brought him back in to his old roots, but this time make as if the duplicate clone persona was given back the original body of Otto instead and is now no longer the influence of original 'Good' Otto as if he has a barrier in his mind to resist 'Good' Otto's influence. Sorry for the long ass essay, it's just I will like to see the dynamic of two Doc Ocks fighting against each others philosophy, 'Good' Doc Ock being people can change for the better while Bad Doc Ock being people can never change. I find it interesting for hero's archenemy is actually themselves, I mean look at Miles, his new archenemy is his 616 counterpart, Ultimatum.

Spider-Man should take notes from Batman. You can say they overused Joker, but DC and the writers try to branch out with new villains such as Court of Owls, Mr Bloom, Batman who Laughs, Failsafe, etc. as a way the Batman titles don’t get repetitive. And when they eventually do bring villains such as Bane During Kings run, he was used as a turning point of Batman along of building a story around it. Rather than fanservice.

I'm struggling to accept the level of consciousness the mechanical tentacles have. While it has been somewhat alluded to in the past. It was never to this level. For the longest time Dr. Octopus controlled the tentacles with a very small element of A.I. that wasn't really all that advanced. The tentacles would save his life if he was unconscious but it wouldn't preform high level tasks on it's own. Otto has always telepathically controlled his tentacles. He never needed an advanced A.I. to complete tasks for him. This is kinda a major retcon to the character.

Honestly, if Doc Ock is going to continue being his average evil man self in this run, Superior should just come back as a separate person. If volume 3 of the superior run is going to take place in the present, just make superior come back some other way as a separate entity that still has all his development, that could make for an interesting story. Would it be kinda bullshit? Yes. If they did this, would it probably be done through some very contrived means? Yes. But in my eyes that would be so much better than having Doc Ock suddenly remember that he had character development and revert back to Superior, only for them to likely regress him again. And making Superior spidey an entirely separate person might free him from being killed off/mephisto'd into oblivion again, which I would definitely like. Whatever happens though, I just hope his third volume treats him well

If they want to do old school Ock again, I think it'd be kinda cool to go the clone route (I know) Superior Spider-Man would exist as Ock post hero arc, and a clone, perhaps from a forgotten contigency accidentally activated, becomes the old school Doc Ock, with memories from before Superior. Then you could give Spider-Ock a real difficult mental battle with the physical manifestation of the douchebag he used to be

I think a big part of the problem is that creators know their history and realize that giving their best ideas to a company that will underpay them and give them no rights (or royalties) for their characters and stories in the future has never worked out well for the legends of the medium, so they’re better off keeping them or using them elsewhere. I wish we did have great new villains, but unless something major changes re: creators’ rights, I think leftovers will remain most of the menu.

PErhaps the issue with Zeb is he aimed too big he wanted a instant classic story line that he could not deliver on. I also think he made a mistake very early on the big mystery. I have a theory when Comics do a big mystery the longer you wait to answer it, the better the answer needs to be and after a year? There was no way his answer was going to satisfy anyone but the damage done is the more you miss the goal the more damage you do. Like it's not just a case that 'Oh that wasn't good enough' it not being good enough actually makes everything else seem much worse. In either case away from trying to write the next classic spider-man and just being a writer, he can write a good story

So, my thoughts: - Peter and Felica should break up, because it's not working and Wells is not making it even better (if he's trying at all). Why did he put them together in the first place then? It's like "you want a puppy, but don't want to take care of it". And this poor attempt from Felica, setting Shocker up so can Spider-Man fight him "for fun" shows you how shallow this is about Black Cat. Like the early days, Black Cat is always for the fun not actual genuine love and doesn't stand when Peter is in a bad mood. Instead of giving him comfort and support (like MJ), she tries to distract him in some sort of "hero entrapment" - Peter obsessing over Kamala is really weird, I guess we'll see him in "Fallen Friend" for the funeral. Also, given the fact that they want a "young Spider-Man", they refused to use Miles Morales for this, even though he is the one who knew Kamala best. - Not showing MJ makes me divided: on one hand, not being in this issue will stops further character assassinatating her (and not mentioning Paul at all is even better). On the other hand, this "out of sight, out of mind" trick is not doing him any favors to us fans who are pissed at this run. If they are going to bring Peter and MJ back together in future issues, not addressing her awful behavior, especially towards Peter will make the fans (including me) furious IMO. They cannot get away with this. - Norman should be the last person Peter comforts. The first person should be MJ. MJ, of all people. Seriously, them being friends is the stupidest thing they can do, given their history. Just because Norman was hit my a "magical sin-cleansing shotgun" is not an excuse. - Of course it's Wells's fault, it's also Lowe's as well. Did you remember in his latest interview about issue #26, how Wells wrote it and Lowe just gave a thumbs up? Yeah, so why it shouldn't it be? Not to mention MJ's horrible character assassination. And Paul "the plot device" Rabin.

But how come Peter did not sense that Otto bot in his room as he fell asleep? And why does Felicia look young again? In the previous comics she looks old like in her 50’s because Peter was gone for four years as he left to the other dimension. But I guess the new artist Ed McGuinness change it so that’s good. I don't mind the Spider Man & Felicia being lovers, in fact I would much prefer it over the Peter-Mary Jane relationship to some extent. It's just that it was overshadowed by the fiasco that is the botched break up of Peter-Mary Jane relationship (for a second time) among other things

If the rumors are true Then it’s about to get worse. Mary Jane’s gonna become a full-time superhero, known as jackpot and supposedly is going to put a rift between Peter and Felicia. Personally, I’ve always preferred Pete and MJ but I am with everyone when they say they are tired of this romantic drama nonsense that should’ve been done with years ago. Pete needs to move on as a character Mary Jane needs to grow up as a character and Felicia needs to put her foot down. Basically all these characters need to grow in progress. Now I’m hoping these rumors are untrue, but they already are apparently coming from the same source that spoiled the death Miss Marvel, so I don’t know .

It needs to stop, Marvel ruined them. Problem is Peter is just going to constantly get ruined no matter who he is with. The longer relationships last the more they will be ruined with Marvel's current direction.

@@XwoooahXoh I know man. I figured the problem with Spider-Man and his supporting cast after MOD was common knowledge among us comic fans , so I didn’t bother bring it up. But I do agree with everything you said. Really it feels like the only way to fix this problem is to address one more day properly and I feel like that was something Nick Spencer wanted to do but editorial wouldn’t let him. It’s funny you had people give Spencer a hard time with his writing a Spider-Man being mid, but now everyone seems to celebrate him as the last good run Spider-Man had. I personally liked his work, but it’s one of those things, Where are you miss them once they’re gone.

@@MardonNaLou I liked it but was very disappointed by the end when it changed to Kindred being the Stacy Twins and dropping the ball with Peter's soul, it was clearly interference in addressing OMD in some level. All that talk about what Peter's big sin was and it was nothing ever answered. Stacy twins had no beef with Peter. It should have been Harry and it should have been Peter's fault for making him that way, not Osborn.
