Seeing a lot of "it's overstocked" comments. Whether it technically is depends on the species of fish (growth, social behavior, etc.) and whether there's adequate filtration. I don't want to pretend I'm familiar with these fish species but then again I wouldn't think of claiming it's overstocked with my knowledge level.
@zakosist21 күн бұрын
You got a point, but I get a feeling if those fish every wanted to swim faster they would crash into the walls. And if there is conflict there is not much space to get away. Not very much room to move for them. But maybe they are a type of fish that dont really need it to thrive and are generally calm. To me it looks overcrowded, but we dont know if it is from the fishes perspective
@RepairBeyond21 күн бұрын
@@zakosist I do agree there seems to be a lack of hiding spots which would turn ugly in case of conflict. A study I glanced over years back about the well being of Zebra fish in the context of crowding (in storage for animal experiments) suggested they actually are fine with being very crowded compared to some hobbyist perceptions. Whilst the study was empirical, the rationale is that they are schooling fish and actually feel safer in numbers. In addition, the impact of aggressive behaviors may diminish if a victimized fish can hide behind other fish from the aggressor. If there are just a few fish, chances are an aggressor is going to be picking on the same victim all the time.
@garg453120 күн бұрын
@@RepairBeyondYep, one of the reasons having large groups is important is it helps them to feel more secure and also spreads out any aggression, though of course you’ll still need to provide enough space and filtration to accommodate a large group so as to avoid other problems
