What a legend! So many players tell of the positive influence Coach Russell had, not only on their athletic performance...but in their lives. They say that "he had a heart of gold." I'm so happy that he had the chance to step out of Vince Dooley's shadow and build his own championship teams! He was always the "winning factor" at UGA...not just with the defense...but with the ENTIRE team. Such a great person and a great coach!

Georgia Southern was the dirtiest playing team I ever played against. Bad when they were winning, Twice as bad when they were losing.

Vince Dooley is one of the most overrated coaches in college football, just my opinion?

I agree. He was horrible. Dooley wasn’t a players coach. He was more like management. The players like employees. Unimaginative, unwilling too change, stuffed shirt.
